I'd really love to hear Jenny talk about her process and advice for analyzing and critiquing media. Even if she doesn't necessarily have an actively & conscious process, I think it would be really interesting to hear her go ahead consciously break down steps on a rant.

1. Percy Jackson is a beloved series yet an obvious attempt at the “lightning in a bottle” success of Harry Potter. 2. The expanded universe is avengers-level after all of these years 3. They made 2 awful movies that angered the fan base so much they just stopped after that even though there’s enough books for 10+ movies centered on Percy alone. 4. Disney owns the publishing company (Hyperion) but somehow they let 20th century Fox get the film rights even though the series was green lit because they wanted something Harry Potter-esque to adapt 5. The first movie was directed by CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS if how badly they wanted this franchise to take off wasn’t clear 6. A rumored to be faithful series with the author heavily involved is in the works. 7. I’m not gonna go into specifics about the movies because that’s Jenny’s ramble if you’ll vote Percy Jackson today! Please guys I have 0 interest in Buffy but also feel like that topic has enough legs to be a main video topic so like let the Greek-myth-loving bookies have it this month🥺

I believe it’s one of those shows like “Northern Exposure” that can’t be released on streaming (or even DVD) because they haven’t been able to clear the music rights. Shows that used a lot of classic pop songs on the soundtrack have run into that problem. “WKRP in Cincinnati” was unavailable for years. That’s why the DVD box set of “China Beach” was so “highly anticipated” because you couldn’t get it in any kind of home video. But even once you have all the rights for DVD, you have to start over from scratch when you want to start streaming.

Initially my vote was for Buffy (along with a few others and "South Pole Ice Tunnel My Little Pony Shrine", of course) but today I noticed that Percy Jackson was only five votes away at 565 to 570, so I switched sides and now it's three votes away, 566 to 569 (nice), I encourage more people to swap preference when you're backing the winner in a close race, if only for the thrill. My actions singlehandedly reduced the gap by 40%. How often does one find an opportunity to wield such power?

Honestly this is just one persons opinion, I’m on the spectrum and I had mixed feeling on that show!! I honestly kind of liked it. A lot of the people seemed like people I could get along with. I felt it was a pretty honest look at different parts of the spectrum! But yes, it did have a touch of that inspiration porn quality to it that most media concerning autistic folks has. Hope we can see something better!! Nothing about us without us!!

Ok, correct me if I'm wrong but I remember seeing that Netflix Love on The Spectrum dating show in one of the previous polls one time. Curious to know if any of you guys have seen it because me and my friends have and it's just awful lol- it felt really disrespectful towards people on the autism spectrum. Like it really feels like it was another one of that inspirational porn stuff for neurotypicals if you know what I mean. Like they only ever match people on the spectrum with people on the spectrum. They use an ASMR narrator to present new participants like it's National Geographic. There was one participant with red-pill ideology and it's all framed as some kind of an adorable thing. Like no one confronts him about this at all. They rarely give anyone helpful tips actually- there was like even one participant that when she practiced for a date- she was being told to lie for not wanting kids (because saying you don't want kids right now is apparently a very bad thing or something). I don't want to shame anybody who liked the show obviously but this show is a pretty good example of how society and media look at neurodivergents poorly to me. By the way, Jenny if you're reading this, thank you so much for bringing up the issue of people on the spectrum being portrayed poorly on media in your BronyCon video. Not a lot of content creators touch on this and mostly when they do, they really screw up by going into "PC RUINS EVERYTHING" territories and say "neuro-atypical" instead of the term neurodivergent. (**COUGH COUGH** YMS defending Sia on Sardonicast and on Twitch before actually looking on Autism Speaks. Literally comparing himself to her about "being canceled" and later after a few seconds actually looking on Autism Speaks and finding their bad stuff and condemning it (thank god), but never addressing this topic again on Sardonicast cause he's a popular movie reviewer, therefore, he's a genius who never makes mistakes. **COUGH COUGH**). So anyway, just curious to know if you guys have seen the show, and kudos to Jenny for addressing the topic in the BronyCon video 👏👏.
