late to the party here but fun fact re: setting: VA has a town called Fall's Church, and there is a school in the same county (not in Fall's Church itself) that was called Robert E Lee High School, but last year they renamed it after John Lewis, a black civil rights activist and politician. I'm from the UK originally but lived in Fairfax County not far from Fall's Church for a few years as a kid and knew of the high school so when I was back living in the UK and picked up the books (never saw the show - this has been my wonderful introduction) I was like 'oh cool that's kind of where I lived but fiction?' Thanks for the comment man! I suppose the trouble Joss Whedon’s gotten into with his personal life the past few years may have lead to some backlash against his prior works, even making them seem hypocritical to an extent. But I totally agree with you, the works haven’t changed! What they were saying and have said has not changed! Buffy still holds up for me as an incredibly multilayered emotional resonant show.

I feel mostly the same way. I guess I'm not hugely surprised Jenny's not a Buffy fan, but now I'm super curious about WHY. When Buffy came out it was generally praised as being woman-centered and female-positive, with books and academic papers aplenty on the subject, but now the hot takes are more likely to be broad condemnations of Buffy as misogynistic garbage. The show didn't change, so what did? Ah, well. Still glad we got the VPD video!

Ah, awesome! They released it! The world is a better place! Even as I reveled in the 2.5-hour glory, savoring each and every China cutaway, during the whole thing I kept wondering in the back of my mind, "Huh, this shares so many elements with Buffy; I wonder what she thinks of that?", only to get that "At least it's better than BUFFY" stinger at the very end. All that time I gave to this show a few years ago has finally paid off by having all the context necessary to fully enjoy this video, and it was as great as I had hoped it’d be. Also thanks for putting the chapter feature in, that’ll make it so much easier to watch highlights or something in the future. And as another comment mentioned, the lost post-it note bit was amazing. Also I saw that a potential Originals video along with other CW videos probably won’t happen now after all this hassle, which sucks because I would have loved to see them, but I understand. Hopefully there’ll be a better way of distributing and monetizing them eventually or something.

I watched all of it at last; another great video! The China Beach Ads cutting in unexpectedly every now and then was hilarious, and the way they would cut off abruptly (at a slightly different point each time) only seemed to make the joke funnier! Haha chiming in abut an offhand comment. I'm not sure about other countries but in Canada you shouldn't donate a book to the library if your intent is to support an author. Authors are actually awarded a yearly royalty-type-thing based on how frequently their books were checked out in public libraries. But this program excludes books donated to the library. So the best thing to do is request that your library order books from authors you want to support. If you have books you want to get rid of, donate them to a school library or prison.

Hearing Jenny mention and then seeing footage from H2O was an experience because my ramble submission for last month was almost "Unfathomable (H2O: Just Add Water, Series 2, Episode 26, Available on Australian Netflix)" because I happened to catch that season finale on the family TV (my youngest sister is obsessed with mermaids; she has seen every episode of all mermaid related content on Netflix multiple times and honestly? I kinda get it) and something about it radiated such perfect Jenny critique material energy. It was so validating to realize I was right on the money. Incredible... I thought I'd have to watch this in a couple segments, but I couldn't stop watching. I watched all of Vampire Diaries (caught up on the first 3 seasons then watched from 4 on while it was airing), and then all of The Originals (surprisingly better in some ways), so I was sort of a fan of the show, but not the sort that would have watched this because I was a fan of the show... If Jenny hadn't done it, I probably would not have watched a 2-1/2 hour retrospective and analysis of any CW show... other than Supernatural. But even I wouldn't demand someone watch a show with 15 seasons.
