April Ramble: Ranking the Disney Princesses

Ariel is not a character she is a propaganda machine

I think this is the longest one yet?

April Ramble: Ranking the Disney Princesses

Comments

Going through your back catalogue of rambles while I work on a cosplay... A Rapunzel cosplay. I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with your take.

KateArcade

idk i genuinely cant understand her take on that like i get tiana, even though i personally kinda like the dress, but i always loved rapunzels dress and i thought it really suited her too. and she had no notes on ariels pink dress which is objectively the most awful disney princess dress i have ever witnessed and makes literally 0 sense on her

Valentine

The way you describe snow white voice actress made me instantly think you were talking about yourself

Robert Romero Jr

i mean she’s one of the highest paid actresses now but back then she was definitely not

Aimee W

she even helped produce it to get it finished after disney did her like that with enchanted

Aimee W

I had to come back to comment abt how good your list was, and mentioning Amy. Giselle is my fav princess and I am constantly kicking myself for not buying her Barbie when the movie came out. Both her human Giselle inspired Barbie and the cartoon Giselle inspired Barbie I should’ve gotten both. Anyway. I waited so long for Disenchanted and. . I have been working on what I want to say about it since I watched it the night it released on Disney+. I am going to make a youtube channel just to talk about this movie and the absolute middle finger it was to everyone that waited 10 years for it. (and how imo they’d do the same with the princess diaries 3). Amy Adams is really the only actor I “stan” so seeing her do this.. and woman in the window(refuse to watch but i love the book and her casting is one of the only decent choices).. and doing the “imagine” video. I can make excuses and say it was because she was lois lane and wonder woman told her to do it but

Aimee W

Losing your voice while talking about Ariel was ironic haha

michael

Mulan and Moana are my absolute favorites for similar reasons- it’s just so much more compelling for me to see the heroine really want something but be their OWN obstacle. It gives them depth right off the bat.

Ophelia Brock

no inclusion of Princess Ozma the first Live action Disney Princess?

Jack Avalon

I couldn't have less of a personal investment or opinion on this topic in general... but seriously, you hate Alice in Wonderland? It's such a fun, creative, surreal film, same for both of the books... it's frankly very strange to hear someone actively dislike it. Wait, were you talking about the stupid live-action Tim Burton one? No argument there whatsoever lol.

Jed Grahek

Swear on my life, I was a HUGE fan of Atlantis as a kid but never remembered what Kida's name was.

Markus D

I agree with this, but also think it was just a kind of disappointing song. Like, I heard all this hype about it but when I listened to it I was like "THAT'S the song that you thought was so good you had to change Elsa from being the villain for?" I just thought it would be more epic. Also, I could've totally gone for an "Elsa becomes a villain then becomes good through love" kind of plot rather than one where she basically doesn't know/can't control how she's hurting people.

Markus D

I think Frozen is okay, but to me Elsa is really the factor that holds it all together and when she's not on screen I do genuinely lose interest in the movie most of the time. I do think that Olaf is a good comic relief character though, because compared to a lot of other Disney comic relief he has resonant emotional connection to other characters (see how even like... Timon and Pumbaa despite raising Simba for what's got to be at least a few years they never feel parental, fraternal, or like mentors as much as they're just like his "buddies", which made them a lot less interesting to me) and his humour is kind of dry. But when it came to like... Kristoff, I thought he was pretty boring and the "Fixer Upper" song sounds like one that should've been cut, especially since that scene comes up SO late in the movie and it feels really inappropriate to be wasting so much time talking to the trolls about whether or not Kristoff is an eligible bachelor.

Markus D

You can dump the end credits for all I care. That's not why I'm a patron.

Thread Bomb

I liked Frozen as a movie, but I am a bit bitter about the song 'Let It Go' (and its popularity). I used to work at an office that was upstairs from a day care centre and they would regularly sing this song so I'm a bit sick of hearing it.

James Flemming

I still have my fingers crossed for an Insanity 2 video!

Julia Nash

ELSA IS BEST!!!!! I was Upset at you bashing Rapunzel’s dress until you put Moana and Elsa so high they absolutely deserve it. Though my entire personality is liking baby pink so I’m biased.

Magicalbunbun

Giselle deserved to be #1 and Amy Adams deserved those royalties :(

Nina Fernandez

Little boys love frozen too. And Moana.

Kaylie

Aww I like Rapunzel's dress...… maybe I just love Rapunzel so much that I just like it.

Lily Sage

Your science is tight, but, I feel like you're just contributing to the ongoing stigma against Kida. If we don't take a stand and demand her inclusion, who will?!

che broadnax

This just became a lot more relevant due to Wreck-It Ralph 2.

Blue Corn

I really appreciate that you asked our opinion for how you want to do the credits. It really shows integrity to thank us at the end of each video. Keep on doing great work!

Daniel Folk

I want my name in the credits. Having my name on stuff is the only way to prove I exist because I don't have friends.

Joshua Crowther

Vanellope von Schweetz deserves ranking! https://io9.gizmodo.com/check-out-the-first-photo-of-wreck-it-ralph-2s-amazing-1826423157

Thomas Allen Wood

And I personally think the credits are a signature part of your videos. There is just something about the usual abrupt cut to the credits then back to the post credit scene that I think works great! (I also loved both of the IW videos. I know I'm late to the party on that comment... was a busy month!)

Theme Park Review

Oh yeah, and I love your top three!

Theme Park Review

Finally getting caught up on some of the videos! Love the Flower & Garden shirt! I was so, sooooo happy they included more Orange Bird in their merch this year! I feel like that little guy doesn't get enough from the merchandise team!

Theme Park Review

I always pause the credits to see my name, I guess that makes me a narcissist?

Jason James

I kinda just wanted Meg mentioned how Jane was briefly mentioned. I just want that movie to be acknowledged because I love it. Those mid to late 90's Disney movies were always kind of shat on by my peers because they weren't "classics" like Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid. Especially Tarzan which is probably my other favorite Disney movie. I was so surprised and pleased that there was no romantic focus for Elsa in frozen. Before saw the movie, I was shopping for my niece for her birthday or Christmas and saw a four pack of Frozen dolls with the sisters and those two guys. I just assumed that they both had romantic interests in the movie and was so pleased that that wasn't Elsa's focus at all,

Sarah Matthews

Is Meg ever in the princess lineups? I think Jenny wanted to keep it to the more established list of princesses. I do love Meg, she was my favorite as a kid. I've seen Hercules on ice (or something, don't recall the official name of the show) and have some sick merch from that, including a Meg doll. I especially loved that doll because she had flat feet instead of the weird tiptoe feet that most dolls come with. Come to think of it, my Ariel doll from Euro Disney also had flat feet instead of arched feet for high heels. I always liked those two dolls more than my Barbies. Random thoughts at this point lol ^ I agree with Elsa at the top as well. She's got some good emotional range and is allowed to be open about her flaws which is a newer trend in the way heroines are portrayed. I'm expecting to see more and more Disney heroines that walk that same path.

selo

I agree with having Elsa at the top. She wasn't wishy washy. I only wish you had mentioned Megara. If you had just said her name I would have been satisfied. I love the Hercules movie. All those mid to late 90's Disney movies are under appreciated because they didn't spit out any super marketable characters that would last a long time like Ariel or Simba. Once 2000 rolled around, I think cartoon animated movies lost steam because of Pixar and computers. Treasure Planet and Atlantis something are the only ones I can think of.

Sarah Matthews

Oh right, I'm ebarrassed I didn't remember his name, he's one of my favorite Disney villains. He's kind of an outlier really, he doesn't sing, he's not a jokester or a "muahaha" villain like the rest, he's dead serious, scary, and badass.

Austin Baker

I'm glad to see Mulan and Rapunzel ranked so highly. Overall a pretty quality list Shan Yu was definitely not Attila, though he probably was inspired by him. The "Huns" in the film were likely Tuco-Mongols like Genghis' ancestors, not Eastern Europeans like Attila and his bunch.

Shaun Cheah

Done. This was super interesting, I should go into more depth sometime, do a character study on each princess. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1y9mEimrVv54BHBDK4IcgO8bXx9gAEvhlMvcGcRa_UXg/edit?usp=sharing

Austin Baker

I don't care about the credits at all, do what you think is best! TFW don't have the financial stability to pledge $6 so I can be part of the coveted Sixers... I guess life goes on.

selo

Doing it right now. Trying to rank by best role model, but I am a guy and it'll probably end up opinionated and bias. I listened to the beginning so I'll be ranking 14 of the OG princesses. (Alice and Vanellope should totally count though)

Austin Baker

I like the credits personally - without it we never would have gotten the piano rendition of Sweet Dreams at the end of the first Jeff the Killer video and that made me laugh so. hard. It was the perfect little end piece. And the outros are always funny and well crafted. But you do you, if it's too much of a pain get rid of them.

Alice & Miguel Borges

How'd you do?

Shaun Cheah

I haven't listened to this yet because I want to rank them myself and compare them to yours. I'm sure I will thoroughly enjoy this though.

Austin Baker

I support you on Patreon because I want you to continue making content. I don't really care if my name is in the credits.

VaultBoy

I'm a programmer; if you would like, I could make you a program that alphabetizes and does the page breaks for you. It would take me like 20 minutes max (depending on the type of computer you run). You could also then easily play with number of names between breaks!

Nicolas Schank

I'd like to make it fade-in batches, the only problem being that the way the sony vegas credits app is configured, with scrolling I can easily add names alphabetically into their place in the existing credits. For fade-ins you have to manually insert page breaks between the appropriate number of names, so after adding the new names into the credits I'd have to delete and re-insert the page breaks every time, and for the current font size display that would be about 100 page breaks each time. This wouldn't be a problem if I de-alphabetized the credits and just added the new names onto the end, because then new page breaks could just be added when I hit a new page. I'm considering breaking up the credits into pledge tiers and removing alphabetization, and just adding people in the order in which they pledged

Jenny Nicholson

I enjoyed Lily James' performance in the 2015 Cinderella.

Stuart Payne

You could try showing batches of 100 at once instead of scrolling. It's more readable because the names aren't moving, so you can fit more columns onto the screen in a smaller font, and everyone can still find their name.

Nicolas Schank

I love Cinderella mostly for the sake of Into the Woods (which I'm in a production of right now) - a play that treated her character better than any other Cinderella movie did. I'd be curious to hear your take on the strengths and weaknesses of the Into the Woods Disney adaptation at some point.

Will Crow

Underrated

Bill Holt

Reduce the font size (stolen suggestion) and speed it up so the names fly by in 15 seconds or so. People can pause to see theirs. I personally think the names are a nice touch. If I show someone one of your videos I can point out my name at the end, and I think that's pretty cool. It wouldn't hurt that much if you upped it to $2 either. I'd still sub.

Tyler Tuthill

I don’t have any specifics on how this would work, but tie in the credits issue with your Purge video. Only those left standing remain, all else are cut. Keep Patreon Great!

Replace large-font scroll with small-font flash screens to reduce the time?

Luke the Apostate

I really enjoyed this video, and I loved your take on The Little Mermaid as essentially a wish-fulfillment fantasy of Ariel's dad. Bravo!

I like seeing my name but it's completely understandable if you want to make it 1 1/2 or 2 dollars. I wish I could go higher but the dollar-rand exchange rate is a right sod and alcohol and animal charities must have their due. By the way, your videos have been helping me put the finishing touches to my book of poetry due out in September. Only in South Africa. But still!

Stuart Payne

also please please do a second infinity war video!!! your marvel videos are my favorite!!!

Em

could you provide a link to the interview with snow white's va? i googled around and couldn't find it. also i totally agree your top 5 are the best princesses, but i think you underrated jasmine a lot.

Em

I feel like that lightsaber video is your “Man Who Killed Don Quixote.”

Peter Marez

I'm a chatty Cathy under this video but what about having the credits next to a reel of funny outtakes? This way the credits can be longer, the regulars can view the fun and us royals can view our names briefly flash across the screen.

R2

Agree with "Editing Jenny". Having long credits isn't so bad. Got to share the love with Patrons big and small. And it's kind of like a social proof thing? I've never thought it took too long anyway. Hope that helps!

Jonathan Baldie

Yo girl make money! The thanos suggestion sounds good. $1.50 Or $2 is fine for end of video credits because you are only gonna get more patrons going forward, so better to cut the population in half now. Also you already have the infinity war video filmed, so you might as well release it :) super excited to see the battle of the bands instalment of Jeff the killer, and honestly would love more vids where you read bad literature.

Annie

The seahorse episode was my favorite of that the ushow. It was probably the only episode I saw.

Kristian

You'll enjoy this, then: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=um8iwaRcIgQ

Shaun Cheah

I know I’m late to the party - but you could just include the names of new patrons in the credits if they’re at the $1 level, so they get that thrill once and then afterwards it’s only the higher tier people? Also, I definitely want to see your other Infinity War video!

Marian

I'm glad to see Rapunzel so high up. I watched Tangled one horrible night, not knowing much about it, and it made the night very much better. Rapunzel, the animation, the songs, Flynn, the horse, the chameleon, the step-mother, the bad guys, the not-so-bad-guys... wonderful. Unfortunately I watched Frozen after hearing about it for a long time, which took away from it a little. I enjoyed it a lot, though, just not as much as Tangled. My niece loves it (or at least she loves the merchandise). Also, in honour of the last home game of the great Arsene Wenger: 'Let it Go' (Cesc edition) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJMr6nrl7c0

Stuart Payne

Changes to the $1 tier wouldn’t affect me, but speaking of credits, being in yours has remedied a lot of my pent up resentment towards my parents for not signing me up to the Lord of the Rings fan club to get my name at the end of the Extended Edition, so thank you.

Sam

Isn't Elsa kinda just Elphaba with a happy ending? (Still really liked Frozen, though)

Que Eres

It was mentioned in a previous ramble that she didn't like filming with glasses because of the glare, but everyone kept complimenting the glasses and sometimes her eyes are too tired at the end of the day that contact lenses aren't an option, so here we are. Personally, I enjoyed the glare in this one. There was that triangle of light points that kept lining up to make it look like she had the Illuminati symbol in her frames; it was pretty rad.

Shaun Cheah

Did you mean the silence is comforting or that the silence is confronting? 'Cause it's somehow kinda both.

Shaun Cheah

My name in credits is not important. But the after credit bit is good. so you need to keep something. and I vote for second infinity war video

David Gallagher

what do you reckon the feasibility is of commissioning a short song? something like 30 to 40 seconds that fits your vibe that you could use for your videos when you don't have a joke one? I know people do it on Fiverr, and there are other services too--if it's a one-time fee and it's explicitly written for your use, then you don't have to worry about royalty-free stuff and you can not only make the credits shorter but keep from dead audio anyway. and do like. a dumb branding thing, if you want. (maybe the very nice Savage Garden man will let you use something from that Screen Junkies video. jk.) just an idea!!

Andrew Kornfeld

PS: I forgot to add Nani and Lilo, the original relatable sisters dynamic. And I would be all for a horsemovie ranking next, but I don't have the power to decide that.

R2

I've never really made up a proper "list" in my head of the princesses, but I did go "HA! YES!" when Elsa won the list. After you included Ana, I thought Elsa wasn't going on here because she's a Disney Queen, but there you go. Anyway, I'm big on Elsa because I think of her as the Mental Illness Disney princess due to her exhibiting social anxiety and depression and would you believe those are things with me too! But yeah, to the two big questions: 1. Yeah, I like seeing my name in the credits so I can pause it and point it out to my girlfriend and then take FULL CREDIT for the video existing. 2. Yeah I want another Infinity War video, because you tend to bring up points on things that I tend to not think of on my own, like how Ariel is propaganda machine.

Hailey S

The non-princesses have always been more engaging to me. Megara, the women from Atlantis, the fairies from Sleeping Beauty and even the Tinkerbell sequels, haha. I guess Jasmine was cool because she was rebelling against the law and had a pet tiger. Also I started to feel bad for her character because the Disney creeps made her 15 with a pencil waist and she had to kiss an evil old hypnotist.

R2

you could pick one generic, royalty free song and use it for every video...like a signature song (that is probably also in a bunch of other people's videos)...

AndyofCT

FONT SIZE Font Size font size .... .... is definitely the answer. You could also add varyingly flattering titles to the tiers, e.g.: Acquaintance Friend Sixer Confidant Trusted Advisor Mentor Role Model Best Friend Muse Raison d'Etre

Steve Ray

I didn't understand at first, but yes, *princesses* all get their jobs through nepotism. Ha!

Steve Ray

I'm happy to not be in the credits, they seem kind of rudendant at a point. But I also like the credits then 'bonus clip' structure that's established.

Booty McJohnson

I already couldn't wait for the Welcome to the Mansion video, now i'm even more hyped about it

denizay dönder

I’m interested in the new character you introduced, Editing Jenny, because she’s so mysterious. I need to start coming up with theories on who she really is. Mulan’s both my favorite Disney “princess” and my favorite Disney movie. The only flaw is that the villain is super bland, but all the other characters are so good that it hardly seems to matter. I admit that I was still a kid when it came out, so there could be some nostalgia points adding to it, but I really think it’s one of the strongest contenders. That said, I can agree with your rankings. New should not equal bad. In fact, I would hope the Disney princesses get better and better as we get older. I don’t know if I may have missed some of your older videos, but I’d be interested to hear a list of your favorite Disney movies (including non-princess stories), though we’re getting into the age where about 1/3 movies coming out these days are owned by Disney properties, aaahaha.

Kit (karmaplace)

I demand more respect and attention for Atlantis: The Lost Empire

Mac Smith

I would really like to see the Jeff the Killer video I loved the first book

Johnny

Yes to more Thanos (basically, yes to more content period :^). Enjoyed the piece! I'm sure you noticed this too, but, while your glasses are fetching the glare on them from the lighting set-up was noticeable. I'm kinda photophobic and ADD so maybe it was just me, but it felt distracting.

Tim Ruckle

One solution for the credits could be to do a splitscreen that scrolls the names on one side, while you use the other side to either show outtakes, promote or field topics, answer a selected question or just ramble. That way the video isn't interrupted and viewers have incentive to stick around for the end credits.

Voidscribe

According to the expanded universe of the Aladdin TV show, Aladdin's father was made King of Thieves the instant Aladdin made his wish with Genie, so technically he was an actual prince and not just pretending to be one as Ali.

Shaun Cheah

Wait what? If it's Aladdin who's the prince charming? Isn't the only prince in Aladdin the dude that gets his pants bit off?

Abel Cassius

Now prepare for future conversations about the series to be really confusing after the release of Purge 4: The First Purge.

The BabaDuck

I kinda love seeing my name at the end of the videos, especially sent to a menacing silence

Sarah Unan

I love how you unironically mention that the original voice actress got her job through nepotism in a video about people who exclusively get their jobs through nepotism ☺

Rob Gundermann

For the tiers you could list the big supporters first and then speed up the scrolls based on tier lvl :)

Scott Ferrier

I recall learning somewhere that it wasn't even originally glass; it was a "fur slipper" which was apparently an intentional allusion to something a lot less child-friendly. Early versions of fairy tales were weird.

Shaun Cheah

Also the book she's reading is Aladdin: "It's my favorite. Far-off places, daring swordfights, magic spells, a prince in disguise... Oh, isn't this amazing? It's my favorite part because you'll see: Here's where she meets Prince Charming, but she won't discover that it's him till chapter three."

Shaun Cheah

Yeah, the stinger gags are great; they're like the alt-text of the YouTube world. I believe that they were in some of the pre-Patreon videos even, just a silent black screen for a while and then a quick gag before the video ends. The credits just enhance the humour, if anything.

Shaun Cheah

Whenever the credits zoom by, I also try to see if I can spot mine without pausing or slowing. When I do, I go "it me!" and grin like an idiot for a bit. So you're definitely not alone here. I was actually fairly worried when I had to pause my support that my name wouldn't be in future videos but apparently one donation gets it there forever, which is fantastic but might be the cause of a lot of the name-clutter.

Shaun Cheah

When I saw that happen I thought I had a hot take for the YouTube comments and was all excited for a bit and now I see you've beaten me by eight whole hours. 😢

Shaun Cheah

There are some moralistic schools of thought that preach that a beneficial action's goodness is cancelled out if credit is claimed, so that all or most good acts should be done anonymously or in secret. "Don't let your left hand know what your right hand is doing" and all that. I think there's some truth to that; I have much more respect for those unknown millionaires who just quietly fund a bunch of shelters than those YouTubers who churn out "GIVING $100 TO HOMELESS PEOPLE [GONE WILD][IN THE HOOD][NOT CLICKBAIT]" But yeah on Patreon sometimes the tiers specify, like, hand-crafted rewards and such and people are like "Well I'd like to support this person but I don't want them to feel indebted to me to have to give me a thing; I just wanna give them money, so I'm just gonna subscribe without the benefits". And I just realized this late into my comment that those people wouldn't get the Patron-only rambles, would they? 'Cause if it's no name in credits but yes rambles, then that's the credit name problem already solved. But if it restricts access to rambles then I dunno, you're right; sounds like a strange option.

Shaun Cheah

You have strange ideas of perfection.

Shaun Cheah

Wow! I can't wait for that Jeff the Killer sequel. By the way, solid Jasmine impression.

Sam Cohn

I'm sure the fish kingdom has health class.

Bill Holt

Ariel's hobby is clearly hording.

J. Allen

Please make a 30 minute mourning video with a royalty free bagpipe sound track where each of the names of the credit purge people appear under your face streaming with tears for half a sevond before turning to dust and blowing away Thanos snap style.

Bill Holt

But also on a very serious note, the name on the credits was my main motivation for giving. It just makes me feel so god-damn cool.

Freyja Bills

Definitely another infinity war video

Chris arnold

I find the silence is conforting

Freyja Bills

WOOOO THE PURGE!! The first purge film is such a delightful mess.

Freyja Bills

As someone who literally lives in the west of Scotland: your impression was somewhere between pretty legitimately good and hilarious! Some of your inflections were bang on.

Young_Scott

I wonder what your thoughts would be on Black Cauldron.

Chris Dearing

PS - more impressions please!

Chris Pearce

Waiting longer and longer for your "post-credits" comment each time just makes it funnier to be honest! I'm only paying $2 (plus UK tax) but I did get a kick out of seeing my name in the last couple of thank-you rolls. But as you mentioned you could always change the rules for newbies.

Chris Pearce

It would be nice if you had some default royalty-free music during the patron credits.

The BabaDuck

My name is in the middle column of the credits and that’s where this Suxor intends it to stay! I’ll fight anyone who pushes my name out of the middle! Totally joking, feel free to make any changes that makes it easier. I’m here for the content, not to have my name in lights. 😀

More fun facts, Cinderella is tale type 510a (persecuted heroines). In its sister taletype (510b), the heroine wants to leave home not because her stepmother is cruel, but because her father wants to marry and have sex with her. Ah, folk tales. So wholesome and kid-friendly...

Alyc Helms

Fun fact, in the original telling of Cinderella, the wicked step sisters cut off parts of their feet to make the slipper fit, and would have gotten away with it if a singing tree hadn't point out all the blood to that idiot prince...twice. Edit; Editing Jenny gave me a jump scare!

"Ladies didn't have a lot of options in Fairy Tale times." -Jenny Nicholson

The BabaDuck

I signed up for the ramble videos and would happily disappear from a shortened credits list (mildly amusing though seeing my name is!). Though ironically I'm at $2 already, so the suggested change would keep me on there.

David Barry

I'm a new patron and first had my name in the credits of the Thanos video. I was excited and do want it to stay but I understand that it is very long so probably should go or be changed. On another note, how many Insanity books are there as I'd be completely happy if the channel just became a book group centred around the Insanity series.

LeapLemmings (Josh Jones)

Definitely want another IW video! And I died at the Thanos suggestion, thank you for keeping that in, haha.

Maxfield Stanton

Yeeeees!

TalysAlankil

Wow I really need to watch it again...

Abel Cassius

$1 for support. An extravagant $2 for for name in the credits. But obviously make sure you announce it just in case someone misses this video.

Jose Sanchez

I don't need my name in the credits, just keep on trucking. :)

Bailey Spencer

As someone who's mother is Scottish your accent was both somewhat accurate and deeply offensive

Spicy_big_boy

Not a $1 patron, but if I was, I would probably pay more to keep my name in the credits. If Jenny says jump, I say how high. Not ashamed to admit it.

Alex Belanger

Belle said, "I want adventure in the great wide somewhere. I want it more than I can tell."

Alex Belanger

That was fun! Totally agree with your top three picks. I would love to know where you would've placed Giselle if you had included her, though. In my opinion, she's the best version of the Rapunzel/Anna-type and would be at #4. It's a big advantage to have both a cartoon and live-action version, I suppose, but Amy Adams just did an incredible job. I also feel like Enchanted was the spark that led to the Tangled/Frozen/Moana renaissance, moreso than Princess and the Frog.

Daniel Anderson

Great list, but I was pulling for Vanellope from 'Wreck-It Ralph' all the way to the end!

Thomas Allen Wood

I think that there is an option when you pledge to you on Patreon to not have your name displayed publicly. I checked some option like that when I started my donation to you and my name doesn't appear in your credits (at least that I can find). I don't mind watching the names list on the credits, it's nice to know that so many people support your work. I hope that helps.

Daniel Fahringer

I love Moana so much I started tearing up just hearing you talk about her, lol. She's such a good character!! Also, I always interpreted Belle as having found her adventure - she has to rescue her father from this enchanted castle that she's then imprisoned in, she meets enchanted furniture and an actual beast, she gets attacked by wolves and then gets to enjoy the full freedom of the castle and being away from the village and villagers. And even at the end of the movie, I don't think her adventure is finished, you know, now she has a bunch of resources and maybe she can help her father out with his inventions and etc and go on adventures with him and his crazy inventions or something. I don't know! She just said she wanted something like out of a storybook, "more than this provincial life", and I think she found that. I feel like I'm in the minority for thinking that though... I sort of like the suggestion someone else had of putting new patrons in the credits, along with a higher tier of long standing patrons as well, I think that would be fun for new people and a nice reward for the people who support you the most. I like seeing my name in the credits, but it's not the end of the world, and manageable credits are nice for everybody!

Pocket & Locket

A suggestion for the patrons list. If you don't want to limit it to $5+ patrons, split the $1 names into three (or more) equal lists and just list one third per video. List higher tier patrons in all videos. Might be more work for you though.

JK

Stop! Your Merida is flawless! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Erica Comitalo

Belle never said she wanted "adventure". The only 2 books we know she read (from the original) were romances, and in one of them she literally meets prince charming without knowing he is one and that's exactly what she goes on to live afterwards (yes he's charming in his own way...) She wanted more than "provincial life", and she got castle life. She didn't want to be a country bumpkin, and she got to be a princess. Arc complete. Ok now I can watch the rest of the video.

I don't care to have my name in credits, I only put $1 so you could get a pizza. I like that the credits roll for a while and then you come back with a witty comment. It's like you are in the Marvel Universe.

I'd be interested in another Infinity War video. Even though I haven't watched the first one because I haven't watched the movie yet (soon!), I always enjoy your takes on things so the more the better! :) As far the end credits, I'd pay more to stay on, but I appreciate that that might not be the best solution for some of your patrons. Some thing I've noticed a couple of YouTubers do is have a few screens listing the names, but have the name size be bigger or smaller depending on the pledge amount. This way they can have the majority of their patrons on there as well as maximize the screen space. That being said, that could potentially turn into a lot of work.

Paul Gibbs

I really like seeing my name in the credits :) But I also think 1$ is too low, even 1,50$. But your call.

Sebastian de Reuver

Maybe make the font size on the patreon list a little smaller? That could decrease how long it is by 20% to 30%. It's kind of a temp solution though. I actually really like seeing my name in the credits despite only being a one dollar patreon but I'm did it for videos like this. You offer a lot for one dollar, the name thing is just a bonus.

CrossKnights

I'm the dork that got all giddy about my name being in the credits, and i got giddy again when i saw it on the next video. that being said, i would kick in another .50 if you did want to go full Thanos on this.

Nicole Thorn & Sarah Hall

Two things regarding the credits. First, just move the "name in credits" thing up to the $3 tier, or whatever the one after $1 is. It's not that big a deal. Second, that "editing Jenny" effect where your face is immobile in the frame while the background moves? Please don't do that again. I got physically nauseous just from that short clip.

Brandon Blackmoor

Totally agree with your #1 and #2. (Who hates "Frozen"? That's bizarre.)

Brandon Blackmoor

This video is spicy as heck. This would have been even more controversial than the Thanos one if it wasn't Patron-only.

Tobasco da Gama

You said it was inappropriate to lose your voice in a princess video but the fact that you were talking about Ariel when it happened was perfect.

Eric MacMillan

Also, apparently there are two $1 levels. One just says "I want to support Jenny Nicholson" with no benefits. The other is the typical $1. I mean, I guess if you just support and don't get the video, what's the point? I don't know.

Bill Lehecka

I like my name in the credits. It makes me feel like a bigwig, like I'm super important. Even though that isn't really the case.

Bill Lehecka

"Editing Jenny" is quite intimidating.

Blue Corn

The only version of Flicka that I've seen was made in 1943 and starred Roddy McDowall. I don't object to it being remade with a girl, but I think it's kind of funny of it's *always* been remade with a girl since then. (I didn't even know it had been remade.) Also... who the hell is Anna?

Brandon Blackmoor

Idea: Put new $1 tier people in the credits of the next video after they subscribe. Put higher level patrons in every video. Not sure if that would be too hard to manage.

tim_schu

No! No! Make it a line for like re-enactment of 'Where Eagles Dare". It's not exactly a Jenny kind of movie at any level, but I'd love to see her doing the Richard Burton-as-a-Nazi-agent lines.

Alex Woodcock-Clarke

I think I’m going to have to pledge $25 because I need the next ramble topic to be a line for line reenactment of Brave.

To be fair to The Little Mermaid, wasn't Ariel suppose to be the youngest out of a gaggle of sisters. Like Ariel is annoying and off kilter. But isn't she supposed to be balanced by the dourness of her background princess sisters?

Blue Corn

Oh ignore me I can see them now, I'm sure I couldn't when I first pledged the other day but nevermind. Super glad I pledged and have all these extra videos to catch up on now

Augustine Lloyd

Hey, do I only get access to ramble videos from after I started pledging and not the older ones? Or are they kept somewhere else and I just haven't found them? Thanks :)

Augustine Lloyd

Thank god. When either you or RLM posts, I know that I am going to have [x] mins of amused enjoyment. In a perfect world you would be kept in a cell and forced at gun point to churn out these wry, original pieces every two hours.

Alex Woodcock-Clarke

Perfect timing for a video! On the train to Oakland so a long video is great!

Love the long videos lately between this and the fanfiction reading. You're probably my favorite content creator out there, so thanks for all the work you're putting in to make them.
