At least it's a game reality show and not a "let's follow people around on their day and bleep out every other word, sometimes whole paragraphs!" Any game, no matter how dumb and nonsensical is always more interesting than that., IMO.

I love Survivor, and it's first season was also really heavily presented as a social experiment. They still use that kind of language at times, that it's more than a game. Like when they split tribes by race or more recently by generation. It's a great game, I don't know why they feel the need to make it more.

The glass wall was effectively pointless. The few times you got raw un-manipulated footage with the real room audio it also became apparent that it wasn't soundproofed particularly well, any better than say two rooms separated by a door would be. You could have a conversation through it. I guess it was to rub in to the past side that they didn't have comfort and food? It rarely came into play. I guess one could have used it to psych the other team out, like huddle like you're making some grand plan and point ominously to various members of the other team. No one used it for that.

Watched live! Bailey and I were hooked to the disaster and watched it realtime every week and like Trapped In A Island With Josh Hutcherson it comes up anecdotally all the time, how funny it is and how surreal the experience of watching it unfold was. I always get frustrated by how watching funny media is so "you had to be there," and people's eyes kind of glaze over if you try to tell them about stuff like this conversationally. Thank god for youtube videos

I loved being able to include footage, I don't know if I would do it often because youtube can be really fussy with uploading vids containing copyrighted clips (even if it's short clips for commentary and technically legally in the right, if the clips are in the contentid system you can get a strike on your account which I wouldn't want to risk). I felt pretty confident with this one because I highly doubt whoever holds the copyright for Opposite Worlds gives it much thought these days, and the full episodes I pulled were from youtube anyway so clearly those channels are getting away with it. It did take longer mainly because I did a soft-rewatch of the series, having seen it when it came out and remembering what funny stuff I wanted to talk about, but having no idea at which point in the season most of the events happened. In the editing process I think it only added a little extra time because basically I made a separate project file of the clips I wanted to use/react to first, then when I had my footage I just dragged them together. tl;dr I guess it about doubled the time but since I'd divided it into steps it didn't really feel like it when I was putting the final video together

Now that I think of it I guess you presumably see these so I might as well ask, when you were making this video, how did including footage from the show make the process different? Was it significantly more work? Can you see yourself making more videos like this in the future?

This was great. I noticed that this is definitely a departure in that it's your first video that mixes your personal style with what I'd consider more traditional for a youtube comedy review video. That's definitely a function of you actually being able to include footage from the thing you're discussing and cutting back and forth between you and clips, but you also used tropes like splicing a short clip from earlier in as a joke, and I think it really worked. So... I know this is a weird analytical comment but I noticed the change in format and the video is still great so I guess this just once again proves you can make an entertaining video out of literally anything!! Really looking forward to the next one, as always.
