Ramble - Hobbies

I explain in this video - since it's late (very my bad), I'm going to also just shoot a ramble for the second-place topic of Conventions and upload that one as its own ramble too.

In the meantime, I'm going to start the new round of voting on topics. So the suggestions message is going out now, and 5 and up patrons will see a new voting thread in a couple days, after the suggestions have had time to come in.

I went to try and find a web archive of the pony site that inspired my collecting (I know it was taken down years ago), only to find that the Wayback Machine only ever archived the homepage, and none of the articles. I went to link the 2nd site that gave me info on G1 ponies for years, which HAS been active all these years - and it turns out it shut down last November. Everything as I know it is falling apart. It's archived though. Click the link to check it out in all its pink glory. It's always been, to me, the most useful and digestible resource.

Oh and here's Yesterland.

Can’t believe I never realized you had a patreon so I just subbed and now I’m going through old videos but wow I love Jenny lore

Man the amount of videos you say you're gonna make and then that don't come to pass is so many. I'm curious what your thoughts were on Annabelle.

Chelsea Counsell

That fish shirt is so cool

Becky Thompson

I love the skit videos but I also love your long videos. I guess I would like to see more skits because it seems you don’t do them that often lately. I love the way you highlight various absurdities in whatever you make a skit about, like the idea we were supposed to feel empathy for Thanos or the many ridiculous aspects of suicide squad.

Where could I find the conventions ramble? The next ramble I'm seeing is from the start of October about rejected video ideas. This one would presumably be the August ramble, so is there any content in September? Conventions are interesting to me; I'd like to hear more about conventions if the content is out there.

Is that a Putt-Putt plushy??

QuailMan420

Can we get a video showing your collection sometime then? With anecdotes... Would be really fun I think, even if not a collector... We like seeing passion?

Sean Hanley

Now you've gone and angered all of your many, many creationist patrons. 😈😈😈😈😈

Patrick Zartman

Maybe I'm biased because I'm a super-language-nerd, but I think you can still learn another language; I promise you're not too old! I understand if you don't have enough time though since you have so many hobbies.

Christine Gerding

oh, MLP. I was a Disney Afternoon kid. Though I was much more into Sonic the Hedgehog (Adventures and SatAM) back then. :D

Reminds me almost of a Blackberry :p

Disney DID recently have the Flying Tires in Carsland, which were generally hated and then taken out but which I loved. A lot of people said the ride system didn't work well for them - I think because if you leaned a little too far, the rim of the saucer would hit the ground and stop you from "gliding." But if you had the hang of them they were fun. These didn't break down as much as the Saucers, I think just because they were made so much later, but the tech was all the same and really expensive to maintain. I DO think they were made a lot less-good after their first year of operation. When they debuted they had giant beach balls thrown out on the ground, which would get flung around by the air currents and which you could throw at people. Made the whole field of the ride visually a lot more dynamic, and more interactive, but they took them out because some people didn't like getting smacked in the face by giant beach balls. I think it was a liability concern (so was the possibility of someone reaching for a beach ball and getting a limb sandwiched between two flying tires). The lack of the beach balls meant people who couldn't figure out how to get the tires to move didn't have anything else to do. And visually it emphasized how slow-moving of a ride it was.

I feel like a sewing machine is a great way to pierce your entire hand with a needle and then not only do you have to look at the injury, you have to pull embroidery thread out of it, I assume, I don't really get how sewing machines work

Jenny Nicholson

I am with you on the hand-sewing thing, although sometimes when I'm several hours into a project that would have taken 15 mins on a sewing machine I do feel like maybe I should learn... I don't know, they just intimidate me! They're so fast! I feel like I'm going to sew my own hand to something! It's just not as fun. I like how you let your actual enjoyment of things guide you instead of liking things you're supposed to like.

You talking about western horse riding just made me think of this https://youtu.be/g_71ajhyCbA

Also, a mix is good. Or not if you don't want to. But yes. Skits, reviews, discussions and the Further Adventures of Daring Do. I love that video.

Stuart Payne

Bring them on in, they're missing out!

Old time Disneyland rides: Don't let anyone tell you how great the Disneyland Flying Saucers were. Great fun when they worked, but at least 3 times it broke while we waited in line. No ride for us. Thanks for nothin' Walt.

Some friends and I had a mock-gang as teenagers called The Pink Ponies, named after an MLP toy of the little sister of one of us. It was meant to be satirical. Of gangs, not ponies. (Thanks to Friendship is Witchcraft I did become an MLP fan).

Stuart Payne

I'm not a My Little Pony fan, but as a kid, I had some that would typically be ridden by Wolverine. I don't know why Wolverine would ride a blue pony with pink hair, but I suppose it's faster than walking...

AndyofCT

You've inspired me to replace my wardrobe with nothing but fish apparel. Also: I'm curious what Jenny's male-to-female fanbase ratio looks like. Because looking through comments, it's almost entirely (and uncomfortably for me) male.

PogieJoe

Quick numbers crunching for fun. Your skits style videos on youtube average 803 893 views (Suicide Squad has more than all others combined though), whereas all videos average 230 986 views. Let's face it... they're the funniest and most of your viewers are here for that. My own favorites are the rambles and anything where you analyze characters in depth. Does it matter though? Haven't you started out posting what you liked without expecting much of an audience? Oh and if you really want to be told, this ramble is technically June. I like that you really care about that if it means as long as you haven't caught up we can keep you around like a migrant worker in debt whose passport we're holding. My advice? Do a ramble every 29 days and you'll eventually catch up. Maybe ;)

Abel Cassius

I like the skits the best, the West World one had me in absolute stitches, but think it's good to mix it up.

you have a notification on your phone!

Dieter Mai

Yup that was rambly :) . Firstly. a mix of stuff is great and secondly, no need to apologise, it's not that late. Keep up the good work.
