Daniel & The Snail

Thanks to Richard for the prompt on this short story.

One patron-prompt down, one to go!

I'd never heard of this prompt before today, but it really is a great concept and I think you made perfect use of it here - the prolonged punishment of Daniel's choice. There really was no joy for Daniel at any point in his journey, no refuge where he might've been able to enjoy his choice, despite clinging onto how smart he was. It also really worked how well Daniel came across as just some guy, I bet anyone could picture him as someone they know. The relief at the very end was truly felt. After all of the questions that Daniel had asked himself about what might've become of the lamp or the snail, it really was impossible to know how long it would take. But as always, the djinn had the last laugh. Also, "The store itself hadn’t even been converted into a Spirit Halloween" really got me. What a great way to hammer home how literally nothing was happening in this place, with the added sensible chuckle at everything becoming a Spirit Halloween :')
