Evening all, it's time for a midmonth update! As I mentioned previously, my main task this month is progressing the Harian plotlines, although there were a few thorny issues that came up.
One of those is dealing with the technicalities of the GPU Leaders, or Antagonist characters. In Carnal Coup, Directors were gender-flexible according to the preference settings chosen at the start of the game. I've continued that theme into Voyages, although more so, with the expanded physical options CV has. However, the tricky part here is that CV allows for preferences to be changed at any time at Watch Station rather than just once. I don't want (non-Figura) characters to be physically shapeshifting every time you chose a different recruit option, and so I've set up the following system: whatever preferences you're using the first time you encounter a gender-flexible character will lock in that character with those settings for the remainder of the game. So, fair warning, make sure those are set to what you want before you leave Watch Station.
There was also a fair bit of Duty Assignment work this cycle, particularly in adding a full set of system-specific assignments for the Seeder system. Aside from that, I did have to go back and correct a bit of an oversight in the previous update: I'd been so focused on the setup for crew promotions that I overlooked some of the things that should happen after the promotion, which is to say, the mechanical benefits of rank beyond the new titles. Crew will now get the additional stat points and traits they should have after being promoted, and like with initial crewmember generation, these additions are randomly generated at promotion time.
So, all in all I did end up spending more time on mechanical matters and less on writing than I was aiming for, but I still plan to spend the rest of the month on Harian plotlines. I'll be back in two weeks with some more scenes for you, til then, the patch notes are below, and patrons can find the game at the link in this post. Enjoy!
