Mega64 Record Club Ep. 49 - Bob Marley - Legend (#48)

Hello friends! Jennie joins me again to talk about Bob Marley - Legends. We have all heard Bob Marley songs but have we ever really listened to them? Watch Shawn give Bob Marley a chance for the first time in this weeks Record Club.

Hey no worries! I'm sure you'll dig those albums

Great episode and great album. I know other people have probably said it but playing samples of the songs is so nice.

Ooh I added both Catch a Fore and Exodus to my to-listen queue - thank you for shouting out some recs!

Wanted to say that I really appreciate you and Jennie always managing to make these episodes happen with how busy you two are. Y'all are great as always! And, I like when Jennie gives Shawn a hard time lol Sorry Shawn Great to see you come around to reggae though dude. Bob Marley is definitely a much easier way to get into the genre. The man's an absolute legend. And personally Three Little Birds is one of the greatest songs imo. I agree with everyone else that this compilation was a strange pick from RS though. Catch a Fire and Exodus are both great studio albums by him. Also, Idioteque is dope! Kid A is my favorite album of theirs. I'm hyped for Prince next week! 🙂 Keep up the great work! Edited for spelling

I haven't looked at the Rolling Stone Top 500 Albums list whatsoever beyond watching this podcast, but if this compilation is the only reggae on it....... well then yeah that would check out very much with what I expect of Rolling Stone.

When I was in an Uber a couple months ago the driver was playing this compilation, so it was kind of cool to hear a Record Club pick IRL and not because I put it on. A lot of great tunes but also a lot of ‘safe’ tunes. I’m interested in checking out a proper ‘full’ album to get a better take on Bob Marley. My favorites were Exodus, Jamming, Redemption Song and Could You Be Loved. Dirty Mind has one of my favorite Prince songs! I haven’t listened to the album in full but it’s a nice 30 minutes so that’s rad.

I had Head Underwater by Jenny Lewis on pause when you selected next week's song/album... Record Club freaks me out.

I also usually hate that they put greatest hits albums on here but I’ll give this one a pass because it was always pretty prolific. It was definitely the Bob Marley album I was listening to in Highschool. But yeah obviously banger after banger but I just feel like I’ve heard them all too much at this point and wasn’t 100% feeling it this time. I’m sure if I was in more of a mood for this it would get a much higher rating from me but for now I’m just feeling a 3/5. Still great though.

I dedicate this spliff to you, Shawn. 💿💿💿💿+/𝟓

Greatest hits records shouldn't be on this list. It would be stupid to give this record a rating. Of course every song is great! It's unfair. Anyway, Idioteque is a 5 for sure.
