The murder case is very interesting. A fascinating, macabre connection: the Golden State Killer, JJ DeAngelo, was active about three hours north. Officially, he was just a cat burglar at the time, but there is a great podcast (called 12-26-75) that makes the case that he, as a cop, probably framed two separate people for abduction/murder of a couple of poor young girls in Tulare County in 1975, and the perpetrator, from circumstantial evidence, was very likely him. Very probably not connected to the (possible!) Aquino situation, but an interesting parallel: some genuinely Satanic, extremely well-planned magick happening nearby in the same year. The eeriest speculation of the podcast people (some Innocence Project people) is that the cops knew and might have even suicided the DA who represented this carpenter who was clearly innocent even if DeAngeo didn’t do it, Oscar Clifton. Clifton was an Okie who had some tenuous link to communist organizing. Food for thought, even if it’s nothing more than “California was fucked up in the 70s”.
