[#234] GROTTO OF TRUTH Q&A XXX

After catching up on a whirlwind of recent insane news items, Dimitri and Khalid answer questions from the Grotto of Truth Discord about: the Aum Shinrikyo terrorist doomsday cult in Japan, whether seed oil discourse was a psyop, the spiritual susness of the Evil Dead films, the MK-Ultra roots of modern internet blood cults, and why certain groups of Marxists/leftists in the west are “straight-up anti-conspiracy people”.

Windup Bird Chronicle is as close as he ever came to directly addressing any of this. It's also as close as he ever came to writing a straight up horror novel.

If you do an Aum Shinryko episode, I’d recommend Haruki Murakami’s nonfiction book Underground. What struck me was the huge disconnect between the scientists running the ops (one of whom was publicly assassinated by a Korean (cough cough Moonie cough) and the rank and file who would be unable to kill cockroaches infesting their apartments. Asahara struck me less as a mastermind and more of a figurehead flattered into going along with a shaitanic agenda. I’d also recommend Murakami’s fiction as it reads well as the way his “magical realism” interacts with djinn/egregore type figures feels more nuanced than other writers. Particularly in “Wild Sheep Chase”, “Wind Up Bird Chronicle” and maybe “Kafka on the Shore”. Left me with the sense that something of major metaphysical significance happened in Manchuko prior to World War II. I believe I remember reading in an interview that when asked directly about it he shut it down pretty quickly and said no comment.
