Re: discussion at 2:30ish - Legacy of Violence: A History of the British Empire Book by Caroline Elkins is a good history of late colonial rule. Covers the Palestine mandate and yeah lots of unhinged brutality, she correctly places in the context of strategies of governance and ‘counter insurgency’
