I really respect an creator in the space of an ongoing media like manga, sitting with what they would write differently, and not making a bs reason to recon a pervious plot point

After seeing his work adapted on the big screen, Chainsaw Man author Tatsuki Fujimoto has since expressed sorrow over the fact that Denji and Reze didn't work out and seems to be lamenting why he wrote it that way in the first place. Assuming he's not just trolling us haha, what do you make of this and how creators can have different perceptions of their works over time?

During the scene in the pool, there's a sense of trust and vulnerability between Denji and Reze. The only thing that seems off is when we cut away to the spider closing in on the butterfly. It's an eerie visual that would probably make you cautious of Reze closing in on Denji like the spider, but in the end, Reze also ended up getting herself trapped in an inescapable situation. Also, when it starts to rain at the end of the scene, the spider remains curled up instead of escaping to find shelter, indicating that it may have died since butterflies can be toxic to spiders. In hindsight, what do you think the sequence represented?

In season one, we learn about Denji's interesting relationship with food, having grown up in poverty needing to make every scrap last. An extra at the end of volume one of the manga has also shown that Denji will eat almost anything, from orange peels to scabs from Aki's arm. Considering his reverence for eating, what do you make of what he does in the post-credit scene? Do you think he ate the flowers just to mess with power, because he didn’t want to waste them, or as a more sentimental act towards Reze?

Why do you think Denji changed his mind about leaving public safety after everything he went through with Reze?

Do you think this was Denji’s closest chance so far at a real relationship?

The Angel Devil claims to hate life in the city and following government orders. Do you think it’s more morally good for Devils to blindly follow their orders? Or is it better for them to do what’s right im their heart?

Let's do a hero ranking, your guys honest thoughts

The movie has a different aesthetic than season 1 did. The show was more subdued and cinematic, looking like it could have been filmed with live action, while the movie was more frenetic and colorful. Both are top tier animation, but have different feels. Thoughts? Pros and Cons? (Personally, I can't really pick a preference since they're both so dang good. I liked how the show's slower, mature vibe set it apart from other anime, but seeing some of the nutty visuals of the movie, I see the appeal of leaning into the experimental side of Chainsaw Man.)
