Accidental Champion of Earth - Chapter 13: If This Were A Video Game… I Would Definitely Be Overpowered
Added 2023-06-15 00:46:06 +0000 UTCXavier’s eyes snapped wide open, and his vision was assailed by a stream of notifications.
The first four were kill notifications.
The goblins. I killed them. I won!
He dismissed those and read on.

Xavier rubbed his eyes. He had gained titles? Four of them? His eyes widened as he read each one, thinking of all the stats that he’d just gained. His body surged with sudden strength. He felt the subtle shifts in his mind.
All this because I was the first?
And there was more.
Congratulations on completing your quest!
Here are your rewards:

Xavier couldn’t hold back his smile. He did it! He defeated all fifty goblins, and—most of all—he didn’t die! He moved to leverage himself to his feet with his staff, but… he didn’t need to.
He felt stronger than he ever had in his entire life. He looked down at his body. Though much of him was covered in the grey robes he wore and all the goblin blood—not to mention more than enough of his ownblood—he could already see the difference.
His shoulders had become broader. The muscles in his legs, arms and torso thicker. He let go of his staff with his right hand and touched his left bicep, flexing it. It felt… huge.
Xavier shook his head and stood with ease. The timer was visible within his vision. Forty seconds had already passed, and there were still more notifications to read.
Title Unlocked!
100 Stats: This is a common title that everyone receives when they have reached a total 100 combined stat points.
You have received: +1 to all stats.
Title Unlocked!
First to 100 Stats: You are the first person in your world to reach 100 total 100 combined stat points.
You have received: +5 to all stats.
Xavier eyes widened. Doing some quick math, he realised that just that morning, he’d only had a total of 34 stat points, now he had over a hundred?
Not only did I get a common title for achieving 100 stats, I got another one for being the first! On top of that, it was his biggest title yet. He felt another shift in himself. He looked down. His muscles weren’t any larger, but they must be denser, right? He remembered when he’d put points into Speed he’d gotten skinnier. Maybe those two stats level each other out. Speed doesn’t make me too bulky to move fast.
If this were a video game… I would definitely be overpowered. He wondered what other things he might gain for being the first in his world to do it, but he also wondered how he was the first. He had to imagine there were other people out there who’d chosen Champion that were more suitable than him. Maybe… maybe they’ve just taken longer to complete the first quest.
Either way, he couldn’t complain, could he? He was gaining massiveadvantages, advantages that no one else on Earth would ever be able to get. He frowned, that fact making a weight of responsibility fall upon his shoulders.
That Navy Seal died for me without even meaning to, now I’ve gained titles no one else will be able to get. If I die, it won’t just be Julian Myers’s sacrifice that goes to waste, all these titles will be lost with me. He clenched a fist around his staff. I need to keep gaining moreadvantages. Stay the strongest, so I can defend Earth and earn the right to be one of its Champions. He looked around, at all the dead goblins. Or have I already gained that right?
Xavier glanced at the countdown timer again. There was only two minutes left now. He’d spent too long looking at all the titles, checking out his new physique and getting lost in thought. Though he really wanted to check his status, he knew he should get moving.
He frowned, thinking about one of the rewards he had gained. A Storage Ring. He looked down at his right hand and noticed it was already on his ring finger. Storage Ring… is that like a bag of holding?
Xavier focused on the ring. As he did, a space was revealed to him within his mind. It was a dark space with four walls, roughly the size of his bedroom. He tilted his head to the side. “Whoa! That’s huge!” His eyes widened, looking at the space. “How do I get things inside it?”
That’s when he remembered: he had eighteen goblins to loot purses from. He grinned, and got to work, picking up a short sword from the ground and cutting one purse after the next, except his satchel was getting too full.
He paused, a goblin’s purse in his hands. He looked from it, to the Storage Ring. Everything else works by thought… He willedthe purse into the ring. It disappeared straight from his hand. When he looked into the Storage Ring’s internal space, he saw the purse sitting on the floor of the black room.
Xavier smiled broadly. He only had a minute and a half left before he would be teleported out of there, and he used it wisely. He put his satchel into the Storage Ring and looted every single purse and weapon from all eighteen of the Lesser Goblins he’d slain in the courtyard.
Then he activated Spiritual Trifecta and sprinted into the cafeteria, throwing as much food into the space as he could. If it worked like in books he’d read or games he’d played, the Storage Ring would keep the food fresh. He went to one of the vending machines, broke it open with the head of his staff, and put a hand to every single one of the beverages, focusing first on the water, putting them into the Storage Ring one by one.
Then he realised how foolish he was being.
He touched the vending machine itself, putting the entire thing into the ring. Much faster. He moved to the next vending machine—this one held snacks. Bags of chips. Bars of chocolate. Not the healthiest things, but he would need whatever he could get to help restore his Spirit Energy. Not to mention his Health.
It was then that he realised he was missing the most important thing of all: coffee.
He had no idea how long he would be trapped in this “pocket world.” And he had no idea what kind of beverages they would have.
Xavier couldn’t remember the last time he’d gone a day without coffee. He knew it wasn’t the most important thing for him to have—knew that he could go without it—but if he was going to be fighting for Earth against goblins and who-knew-what type of other monsters, he would definitelywant some coffee.
He went to the café area of the cafeteria, where there were full pots of coffee still sitting there hot. Part of him was tempted to take the espresso machine and grinder, but he doubted he would have electricity wherever he was going.
You will be transported to a pocket world in
5…
Better keep moving.
4…
Xavier placed a hand on the coffee pots, rushing from one to the next.
3…
He let out a breath. Before the timer had reached the end, he’d managed to put all ten coffee pots into his storage. He stood there, gaping at the cafeteria, empty of vending machines and every food tray in each of the self-serve windows.
Did I really just do that, acting as though it was a life-threatening situation?
2..
Maybe I’m going a little crazy, after all I’ve been through…
1…
Though, admittedly, who wants to go without coffee?
Commencing transfer of XAVIER COLLINS.
