You pointed it out last reaction Kenny, that in the Tower arc they showed the "initiation" of pummeling unsuspecting fighters with Nen, once they reach the adequate floor. That's why the people who fought Gon and Killua were disfigured, they were beaten by nen users, thus awakening their nen. Wing used the similar technique of forcing Nen into the kids in order to awaken it, but he didn't do it maliciously like the fighters in the tournament

2025-10-23 20:11:07 +0000 UTCIn Kite's case, Crazy Slots has a bit of a personality and mind of it's own, so it probably has a restriction to not be totally random but really it's the Crazy Slots Clown getting to choose. Like, it will force Kit into using a weapon that it thinks will be good in the situation, rather than just letting him choose, which might explain why the choices seem quite effective despite his protestations (though that could easily just be Kite's skill as well).

2025-10-23 15:05:15 +0000 UTCThe way Nen-restrictions work in HxH is that the more restrictions you take on to reduce the scenarios you can use it in the more powerful the Nen gets. So his gambling and that he must use it before being able to roll the slots again is basically helping making each and every one of those different slots more powerful. And the power amp is decribed as multiplicative, meaning for each new restriction you put on it becomes *a lot* stronger. Gon and Killua has restrictions of their own in their hatsu:s but a minor character with the right set of restrictions might have only very specific scenarios he could use his powers, but such a nen power could easily rival and one-shot much more powerful characters if it does manage to go off. So basically if Zushi were around his power level that we left him in, but got a Hatsu for a ki-blast that he could only use during the full moon night at the first day of a month, that amount of restrictions would likely make the ki-blast powerful enough to one-shot Killua or Gon with the power they have now. Although as we learned with Kastro - there is a limit on the number or complexity of powers one could master. So it shouldn't really be possible to just create one crazy-restricted power and then create additional powers to make up for it. Unless you got Chrollo's power-stealing book, you will likely only have 1-2 distinct hatsu:s, maybe 3-5 if you're very experienced. Hisoka only got two as a reference
