Great solo leveling comparison! Hunter x Hunter story helped inspire a lot of future anime’s. That’s one of the most beautiful things about this show. Even the way cursed energy works in JJK takes notes from nen and Bankai from bleach. The ants comparison is one of many Easter eggs referencing Hunter x Hunter in the community

I always forget how much Kite reminds me of like a mix between Sephiroth and Vincent Valentine. Mostly because it especially shows in this introduction compared to the rest of his appearances.

I mean ging had friends but having friends doesn't mean he doesn't allow Gon to have friends just means that he wants him to be capable of taking care of himself what will definitely be seen in a way this arc but hey that's just my perspective. He's just likes to strategize and be himself, Gon tends to be like that too both are uniquely the same but also not.

A good way I was thinking they could have done it is start with Mito musing and wondering where gon is then transition to little Gon and the whole being attacked thing with kite then a X years later and we see a now 12 year old Gon that way we "know" him but just like Gon have forgotten about him by the time this ep hits and it's an "omg it's you again" for the audience too

Definitely not *the* worst but still not good, the "best" thing he did was give up Gon(he still should have given a way for mito and eventually Gon to at least contact him) because he's clearly not fit to be a father and I fear for how Gon would be if ging had kept the poor kid and dragged him around everywhere on dangerous missions ect

There is one really crucial part this anime adaptation left out and fans have been complaining about it for years: Kites and Gon's first meeting is _the first chapter of the Manga!_ Gon gets attacked by a bear as a very small child and Kite has to kill it. It turned out the bear was protecting it's cub and Kite advocates for putting it down too, since without it's mother it will soon die an dthese kinds of animals aren't usually able to be tamed. But Gon, determined little Freak that he is vowes to keep and raise it, holding it even as it scratches up his body terribly. When he finally leaves, tehre is a shot of the now grown bear cub sort of waving goodbye, implying he really did raise it.

I always forget how insane the tone shifts get in this show. This arc, especially episode 85 and onwards, feel like an entirely different series sometimes, in a good way.

since i dont think we're watching episode 1 of hxh 99, i think its important to note, in that series, the VERY first chapter of the manga has Kite in it. He's not a character added retroactively, he was there on day one. He was removed in this version for pacing persumably, so we could get underway with the hunter exam, since he wouldnt reappear till literally now.

Man I love Hunter, especially the adaptation, but this the only thing I wished was different. In the manga Kite is the first character we see, even before Gon. So it’s crazy that they don’t introduce him until over halfway through😭 but show is still goated🔥
