VS 1x24

Enjoy!

Comments

I find it fascinating that when Askeladd was dying it had a white background with both thorfinn and him in the middle the same with thors when he died while thorfinn was holding him.

Sorry, but saw the word "Toga" and got My Hero Academia PTSD 🀣🀣

HBelmont 24

I think so unfortunately

JTBloodstone

im guessing no VS drop since they dropped two last wed?

End of the prologue, the finale episode of season one that is still considered one if not the best episode ever made. This is the reason it's so highly rated as 9,9 in IMDB and it truly deserves that spot. Man I love this anime so much and I am so glad you guys are really loving it so far. Now the true journey of Vinland Saga begins. Cannot wait for season 2. I know more people are watching this anime but I remember how it didn't get the praise and viewership it truly deserved back then when it was competing against other goated animes.

Cation

season 2 is what cements this show as a masterpiece imo, it’s so beautiful i cannot wait for y’all to experience it

robo

Next season builds off of this one so well and provides such beautiful story telling, can’t wait!

18:40 This is the exact same framing of when Thorfinn hugged Thors as he died... peak

Erin Ryan

Season 2 of Vinland saga and the chimera ant arc at the same time. You’re watching nothing but peak

Askladd didn't redeem himself but he died a heroic death

Erin Ryan

The bond between Thorfinn and Askladd is definitely as strong as a father and son. Though it is twisted with rage and hatred there is also trust and time. Its hard to see Thorfinn and Askladds true feelings because one is the master of suppressing all of his feelings under rage and the other is lying and manipulating 90% of the time but we can FEEL the connection they have. Askladd believes in Thorfinn and sees that Thorfinn does not belong on the battlefield and never enjoys killing. Its also what made him so angry at Thorfinn for being stupid wasting his life and potential. Thorfinn, Thors and Canute are probably the only Danes he doesn't despise. I also think he told Thorfinn to stay away because if Thorfinn saved the man who killed the king he would be executed alongside him. Thorfinn was six and Askladd is the closest adult he followed for 11 years, this will form a parental bond even if he hates him. Thorfinn is clearly stronger than Askladd but would never be able to kill him because subconsciously he does not want Askladd dead. I mean just look at what happens after he dies I don't need to explain it.

Erin Ryan

Askladd killing the king is so satisfyinggggggggg

Next season is so breathtaking I can't wait

Askeladd is truly a all time classic. The more I reflect on his story, the more I love him, the more complex he becomes. Born the child of a slave, lived in a stable, shunned and despised, to the point that β€œcovered in dust” became his very name. He killed his father through cunning, buried his mother in Wales, grew up there, and fell in love with that country. You might imagine he entered the Viking world to revive Rome, to bring civilization back to England, but he gradually realized how dark the Viking world was, and how desperately it needed a hero. He saw great hope in Thors and Canute, but because of their personal flaws, neither of them was enough. The image of that hero was so clear, and when what he cherished was threatened, Askeladd became the very hero he thought he could never be. In the end, with his dying words, he saved Thorfinn, to whom he owed a huge debt, perhaps Thorfinn was finanlly ready to hear. And moreover, he brought the secret who actually kill Thors to the grave, showing just how much he cared about Thorfinn.

Kenny and Montana I hope yall read this, but yall are THE GOATS for double dropping. I was worried since yall double dropped earlier in the show that you would not do it again. Yall are the best i hope yall know that.

Ian

Askeladd is one of the best written characters in anime, after everything choosing to use his last moments to comfort Thorfinn brings me to tears every time. I cant wait for your reactions to season 2! Even after all that the story really has just begun

Tyler

I don’t know if you did notice it, but askaladd is wearing a toga(roman clothing) same with his armour, it’s always looked incredibly different to everyone else’s. It’s symbolic of his heritage. Also, crazy that he just commits regicide infront of everyone. My goat.

no u uwu

My god, the hopeful swell of the music in the scene after Thorfinn drops the knife makes my heart so full.

Tyler Owens

thanks for the double drop! now all we need is a 24 drop for season 2 :)

Daniel Jacobson

This is Askeladd's time to shine, but a smaller moment I like is Thorkell supporting Canute after he killed Askeladd. Those two have had quite a unique dynamic, and it's a rare moment of softness from Thorkell.

HBelmont 24

Master class final episode!!!! These reactions are my biblical manna, sating me until season 3 (hopefully) rolls around. What a story!!!

Something of note about Askeladd's final moments: he had the chance to tell Thorfinn the truth about why he killed his father, but DIDN'T. Floki was RIGHT THERE. Askeladd could've told Thorfinn that Floki had ordered him to kill his father, but he instead chose to give Thorfinn closure.

HBelmont 24

Ah askeladd, you nuanced evil uncle Iroh, I love you

Shinji - ηœŸε—£

Man, it's been a WHILE since I've seen Kenny and Montana this stressed out and locked in. πŸ˜¬πŸ˜‚

HBelmont 24

And now the story transforms into once again an even bigger masterpiece... season 1 was incredible... but s2 is so so much better in such an incredible way..

Izrail Gevorgyan

I have never cried at an anime harder than Askeladds death and final words to Thorfinn. Pure cinema.

JTBloodstone

Yall are goated for this and the 18-19πŸ™

Marshall Bowie

In the end those were the characters for the next season

KT

When Askeladd beheaded the king, my jaw was on the FLOOR, and it stayed there for the remainder of the episode. 😧 The same happened when he killed that soldier back when he first learned about Prince Canute in episode nine; few characters had been able to catch me off guard like Askeladd.

HBelmont 24

Man, Askelaad was such a complicated and great character. I love this show. The wild part is, season 2 is even better than season 1! The story telling and character work and really everything in season 2 is just on a whole other level. Season 1 is still peak as hell though of course, especially with characters like Askelaad around and the whole subterfuge and politics stuff at the end of the season. Big fan of this show, hope you guys keep enjoying it!

Geese

Askeladd is the best character in the show. I love characters that are nuanced and often difficult to categorize.

defnotdai

Season 2 is PEAK as well. Starts off pretty slow as they build the foundation but once it gets moving it doesnt stop. I feel like a changed man every time I watch this show 😭😭😭

Jimmy

THANK YOU FOR THE DOUBLE DROP, SEASON 2 IS PEAK

Tyler Owens

Thanks for choosing my question ! It’s always great when you do but especially on a big episode like this, again maybe thanks

Lyrical Kell of Music
