Oh getting closer and closer to my favorite episode. 2E10

silentinfinity

Oh dang, I didn't realize that was Laura singing at the end

HBelmont 24

Its funny how magical items in DnD are nigh impossible to destroy and grog does it like nothing in this ep. Tbf the set up magic items breaking easily with the fabled Lance of Dragon Slaying being crushed by debris in ep 1 lol Also Laura Baileys rendition of making my way is so dam haunting, but I also love Sams and Ashleys version they sang during the montage lol

dannydarko27

BTW, Percy's electric glove is called Diplomacy because it only works half the time.

HBelmont 24

Hi! After watching this series idk if I’m the only one who wants this but I would DIE to see Kenny and Montana play through Baldurs Gate together that would be so fun

Jake Holdright

Blink-and-you'll-miss-it detail at 15:51: the object used to tie the vine to hoist Grog up is a severed hand. The very same hand cut from Agar in the bar fight at the start of the series.

HBelmont 24

I can't help but notice both Dominic Monaghan and Billy Boyd voiced short characters in this show (Archie and Garmelie). Wonder if we'll get Sean Austin and Elijah Wood doing the same.

HBelmont 24

I know you guys enjoyed the song they sang this episode. its actually a reference to a joke at the table where whenever one of them says making my way they all would sing the line form the Venessa Carlton song "making my way downtown". Also I noticed you guys skip the credits where they have additional music by Scanlon. This episode featured another rendition sang by Laura Bailey. Just FYI

Brian Bauer

Maybe i missed it, but in case you didn't catch it, Garmelie was voiced by Pippin from the Lord of the Rings, the second hobbit to be on the show

Mythic.Rob

This was the first episode where it was a very complete departure from the campaign in every way. The group is split here going on two adventures at the same time, at the table these were months apart and the group went to each of them all together. Also what ends up happening to Grog is a compete invention for the show. At the table there were a few rolls and he had to be forcibly removed from the sword then they left it behind if I remember. Very interesting how they did it in the show, I can very much understand why. Cover more ground, everyone gets to have arcs within the larger story in a much faster and efficient way. Keep in mind the Chroma Conclave arc was literal years. But they've manged to fit the story into a pretty well curated and condensed experience. Excellent adaptation.

They mentioned offhand, I'm pretty sure when the group finds Allura with the Fire Ashari, that "Syngorn just disappeared" after the dragons attacked Emon. It's super casual, really only meant for people who are already familiar with the story, and to secretly hint at this.

HamboneKablooey

I'm shocked that Garmelie's artwork didn't get censored. 😂 Also, "why do I have three peni?" has to be a top five Percy line in this show. I dunno which part is funnier: the completely serious way he says it, or the unconventional (and possibly grammatically incorrect) plural word for penis. 🤣🤣

HBelmont 24

i dont think its a condition that grog has, more a curse or otherwise semi-permanent effect that reduces his strength. though i dont remember it happening this way in the game.

ItzYourBoi

Ah, Satyrs -- the fae equivalent of Scanlan, only all Satyrs are like that. I agree with Percy, I find the Fae and the Fey Realm (the Feywild in D&D) to be very fascinating and kind of slept on. To those that write off faeries as a bunch of Disney princesses, I offer a look at Aesop's Fables or the stories from Brothers Grimm to be more accurate of what they are like. The fae are capricious, whimsical and nature-loving, but they are also mischievous and sometimes they can be downright scary.

Robert Bonfante

I remember him as one of the hyenas from The Lion King. 😂

HBelmont 24

Btw, a nice cameo: Trinket in Fey Realm was voiced by Cheech Marin :D

cryptc

Eeeee 😬 That's kinda messed up by the animators, ngl.

HBelmont 24

A not so fun fact - The bird the dies at the start was a reference to Marisha and Matt's bird Dagon. Unfortunately Dagon died a while back, long after the scene was included, Matt and Marisha completely forgot that that scene even existed up until they did their watch-along when the episode released and they watched the bird get torn apart, which hit just a bit harder given their bird died too.

StorytellerDave

Also if I'm not mistaken the sword 'enfeebled' (see the spell Ray of Enfeeblement) Grog in some way by mechanically lowering his strength by A LOT, since you guys were wondering about the specific condition. I can't remember if there was any type of exhaustion or other conditions on top of it though, but I believe it is just a 'strength score drain' kind of situation if that makes sense, especially since the main mechanic of the sword in game was increasing the wielders strength score while draining strength from opponents.

Geese

So they mentioned in the episode when they were in Pyra that all of Singorn planeshifted to the fey wilds. I hope that helps

Blacknight5468

After the first season where Percy was so serious and vengeful, seeing him genuinely happy and curious about the Fey Realm this episode is such a nice change of pace.

HBelmont 24

Also, if they can tell which member of Critical Role voices which character. Cause I had a hard time with that.

HBelmont 24

One day, friend. One day . . .

Can yall drop a reaction to the Mighty Nein trailer I want to hear what yall think each character’s class is

RED

If Kenny and Montana were tripping, how do you think Appa, Hogarth, Winry, and the rest would sound to them? 😂

HBelmont 24

A big reason why the Fey Realm likely reacted the way it did to Vax is, like Kenny said, due to the armor. The Raven Queen in Forgotten Realms lore if I remember correctly, is Queen of the Shadowfell, which is sort of the opposite plane to the Fey Realm. You could think of the Fey Realm as tied to strong expression of feeling while the shadowfell is very muted and dulled. As I mentioned in a previous comment, the Matron is basically the Raven Queen, and therefore likely ruler of a Shadowfell-like realm that is opposite the Fey.

Geese

YAY VM reaction :D BTW it was mentioned in a previous episode that Syngorn hasn't replied, as in when they were at Whitestone I think, and they had a meeting regarding the Dragon attack. As such Syngorn isn't native to the Fae realm. This is further confirmed as the Satyr (forgot his name) said it just appeared and isn't familiar with the City. Also, I'm not sure if it's your type of show, but I'd love to see you guys react to the animated K-pop demon hunters movie on Netflix.

Teib _21

Makin' my Way is easily one of the best songs in Vox Machina. Pike's inclusion and the Southern drawl really make it stand out.

HBelmont 24

That should come once they wrap up season three, imo.

HBelmont 24

Praying for Dr stone sometime after the shows were watching

💥Katsuki BakuGOAT💥 (Tobio)

No pressure but it would be awesome if you guys reacted to the new Mighty Nein trailer which is the show telling the tale of Critical Role's second campaign. Maybe with the next episode or something. Either way I hope you guys react to the full Season 1 when it airs in November.
