Gon could have died in the hunter exam or due to cancer and he wouldnt know about it. If your dad neglects you and abandons you but then comes back after a decade and goes "oh but i did it for you! Here's a super vintage car i bought you. And I never called while i was restoring the car bc uhhhhhh, i had to really focus ;/ Good thing you're still alive. Sorry i was never there for you but the car is super cool and worth it tho"

But regardless, that is very far in the future and not worth really thinking about right now.

But I'd also say that out of the three of them, Deku and Tanjiro are still the most alike. Gon is still the one that stands out for reasons that become clearer as you watch.
