2025-03-22 22:57:46 +0000 UTCI don't understand how they didn't get that. It seems obvious that he was insane. They think the Immortal just decided to kill millions on a whim. They even say in the episode that "he started off good, his BRAIN WORKED BETTER BACK THEN". He clearly had a mental break at some point
Curtis Murphy
2025-03-21 22:00:11 +0000 UTCI honestly thought it was obvious that the Immortal in the future is INSANE. To him, his plan makes perfect sense. A King must be deposed, overthrown. A King can't just give up, it wasn't because he was "cowardly". That's why he wanted someone to beat him. To his Insane mind, his plan was logical. I think you guys have a bias towards the character. You were predisposed to ignore evidence and take the worst take on the characters actions. It happens with some people with shows. Its happened with me with some
Curtis Murphy
2025-03-21 21:58:23 +0000 UTCYou're opposed to Team Mark? Cecil IMMEDIATELY went to attacking Mark. He was heading to the White Room to get the Reanimen while he was talking to Mark.

2025-03-21 21:52:23 +0000 UTCTrue, but also, what did she do with them? 👀 Cause that was a NICE shirt Mark had on.

2025-03-14 12:26:48 +0000 UTCOne thing that was implied for why immortal went insane is he's a human who gained the ability of immortality. Unlike virtilmites who are an entire species built for it in theory.

2025-03-13 19:39:20 +0000 UTCFunny, Bulletproof WAS Mark's original name when Robert Kirkman created the character. Image Comics wanted the name to start with an "i", however, since the character would be the new face of Image Comics.

2025-03-10 13:53:44 +0000 UTCImmortal is actually one of my favorite characters in the series- this version is… bad like, really, REALLY bad and I’m not enough of a hypocrite to be on his side when I’m so strongly opposed to Team Mark in the whole Cecil situation but the character himself is just so interesting to me regardless of him kind of being a tool. I also think there’s more to explore when it comes to a person who has literally died as many times as he had when it comes to ‘sacrifice’ and what people should be willing to accept for the greater good. I think it makes a TON of sense to have a man character go has been dismembered at least once every season so far feel like ‘mere’ torture or that beating the Reanimen gave Mark is no big deal- he and Kate both have a warped perspective since they feel such impossible pain ALL THE TIME that they can’t relate to how rightly horrified the other heroes are over the Sonic device.

2025-03-05 23:06:38 +0000 UTCMost people don’t like him because he talks a lot but constantly gets beat up I don’t hate him but he doesn’t have anything that makes me like him a lot besides being honest Abe

2025-03-05 19:01:10 +0000 UTCalright i think the immortal hate is a little much. the one from our timeline isn’t even bad he just dislikes mark because of what his father did(which is understandable) he hasn’t even done anything worth hating him over

2025-03-05 16:13:53 +0000 UTCNot a bad idea, though I think Immortal's tussle with Omni-Man put a bad taste in his mouth. He honestly seems "spacist", with his still distrust of Mark and how he attacked Allen on the spot.

2025-03-05 08:44:38 +0000 UTCAll Immortal needs is a nice Viltrumite woman so he can at least have someone live forever with him lol poor fella

2025-03-05 04:35:01 +0000 UTCThey do feel bad for immortal but he is genuinely has gone insane that’s his only justification and when he has better solutions he doesn’t want to because it hurts his image so there is only so far pity can take him
Braden Jackson
2025-03-04 12:31:35 +0000 UTCWow that’s such a leap but go off king. Also I think Jinx and Jayce and Victor and Reiner and Aoyama and Zuko at the very least would qualify as characters we had sympathy for. Also Immortal did INSANELY bad things to his planet killing millions because he didn’t have the courage to end one life. Pretty cowardly

2025-03-04 04:01:19 +0000 UTCYeah just don’t judge immortal’s actions in the way you would judge a stable persons, he’s got a warped perception of honor and cowardice, has watched everyone he loves die, ruined a planet that someone he cared about left him to protect, the power to the people bit etc. he is quite literally insane, so I can’t help but feel bad for him. He’s obviously not making logical choices because he can’t seem to anymore

2025-03-04 03:23:48 +0000 UTCSame here. The way he spoke matches how Rudy speaks. Rex's VA did a good job emulating that.

2025-03-04 02:26:27 +0000 UTCThe reveal at the end explains a lot about the Empire's actions so far. 1. Sending only one agent per planet for takeover, instead of full-scale invasions like they used to, because they were "spread too thin". 2. Kregg giving Nolan the chance to return to the Empire. 3. Anissa being ordered to keep Mark alive, even though he's still sided against them.

2025-03-04 00:33:43 +0000 UTCI also don't agree with the slander, but I personally wouldn't place him at #2.
Juan Solo
2025-03-04 00:17:23 +0000 UTCI can't help but feel bad for King Immortal. Anyone who could've helped him when he started to lose his mind was already long dead. The only person left was Mark, who (from his perspective) abandoned him. In his broken mind, committing crimes against humanity was the only way Mark would come back, and it'd give Mark a good reason to kill him (it's odd that future Mark never showed up after centuries of war on Earth). Present day Immortal has been killed twice by someone he considered a friend, and then saw said friend's son go rogue and threaten Cecil. I really can't blame the poor guy for being the way he is.

2025-03-04 00:14:58 +0000 UTCI liked the immortal in season one and the eve special but in 2 he became more and more of a A hole then in 3 was just to extreme I don’t think he is bad but nowhere near the top

2025-03-03 19:20:42 +0000 UTCAlso the reason it can drive immortal mad but not viltrumites is because your entire species ages with you while every friend immortal had died after a while and individual as a immortal is hell but it is doable if others age with you that’s why o believe immortal learned to be nicer to mark

2025-03-03 17:48:17 +0000 UTC1:04:50 - Well the two time travelers say that Immortal ruled well for a long time, and then started to slowly deteriorate. Given he mentioned having hundreds of wives it means he probably ruled for a lot of centuries, maybe a couple millenia, who knows? He was probably a good person for most of it, but immortality surrounded by mortals probably ate at him until eventually he snapped. He says Mark was the blessed one, because his family also survived with him and yeah, it sucks to be the only immortal person, but if you have others around you who you can share your lifespan with it's not nearly as horrible. Though I do have to wonder wtf happened to the Mark of that timeline, why did he not come back to Earth after Immortal snapped?
David Bodor
2025-03-03 17:45:15 +0000 UTCI mean, when he came back he wasn't mass killing people right away. My only point was that it takes time for his mind to diminish so he might need resets.

2025-03-03 17:32:46 +0000 UTCMy thought process was that immortal lost his mind from the pain he goes through and the only things he remembers is the honor he use to have so he couldn’t kill him so he tried to bring his mark back thinking he wouldn’t let the world suffer so he could kill him it’s a pretty dumb logic but he did just go insane
Braden Jackson
2025-03-03 17:32:24 +0000 UTC6:30 Bulletproof and his costume were the original name and costume of Mark during the Design phases of developing the book. The conversation Mark has with Art about the costume needing to be more Iconic was a real conversation Robert Kirkman and Cory Walker had while developing the character. His /original/ original name was Kid Cosmic, then Bulletproof, then finally they settled on the name Invincible.

2025-03-03 17:15:04 +0000 UTC34:59 - It makes for a better legend for the people. The king cannot quit line refers to this too. He wants to be overthrown violently and then the power going back to the people so that the people feel like the revolution was successful and serve as a foundation myth for the new society that the survivors will build, to ensure another king or dictator does not rise in his stead and any who try will meet the same fate as per the myth of the Immortal king. If he just quits then there'd be squabbles about who gets to rule and new kings popping out left and right. At least, that's his justification.
David Bodor
2025-03-03 17:12:06 +0000 UTCIt's ritualistic here, but it's also practical. So far from what we've seen, the only way to kill the Immortal is by decapitation, so your options are physically pulling it out of the neck like Mark does in this episode, or slicing it off, and a Viltrumite is strong enough to do that with a karate chop.

2025-03-03 17:11:59 +0000 UTCBecause of Viltramite genetics, a half Viltramite generally presents as almost entirely pure-blooded, however as with both Mark and Oliver the hybrid species do show some unique traits. It seems that the human genetics gifted Mark with a sort of adrenaline boost that can allow him to close the distance against stronger Viltramites in moments of high stress. We have seen this many times so far in the series ( the flaxans, the fight vs machine head, and angstrom).

2025-03-03 17:06:03 +0000 UTCTo be fair to Immortal, he said he had hundreds of wives, if you give like ~80 years at tops per wife, then that would be 8000 years at the very least, most likely far more

2025-03-03 16:49:43 +0000 UTCI agree with them both doing a bad job with that and I agree with you more but the reason Cecil can’t teleport out of the pentagon is because Sinclair is there so mark could just take him by force

2025-03-03 16:33:03 +0000 UTCMy hope for Immortal is that maybe he needs a reset every 100 years. Like, if you chop his head off and he heals again, maybe his brain is fresh again from the regeneration. If his powers worked like that, it could be a potential solution.

James Jones
2025-03-03 16:08:17 +0000 UTCI think it was perfectly reasonable for Cecil to get to a place he would feel safe. Cecil was ready for a convo with mark in his office and mark made it perfectly clear he wasn’t going to calm down so he moved to a safer place for him. Also the reanimate didn’t just dog pile mark the second he walked in, they only grabbed him when mark continued to make advancements on Cecil. Not only for superhero’s but anyone, when someone is angry proximity is a threat, plain and simple. When the 2 enter the white room they have a healthy distanced, mark advances on Cecil, one reanimate blocks his way, doesn’t touch mark, just puts itself between the 2. Both continue to talk with no problems. Then mark tries to advance on Cecil again, one of the reanimate grabs his upper arm. They don’t attack, push, or try and throw him away just stops mark for going towards Cecil. If you wanna say mark was in complete control of his emotions when he slammed his hands on the desk without breaking it, this is pretty much the same thing. Cecil controls the reanimate and he isn’t attacking mark with them, that’s when’s mark makes the first attack, “killing” the first reanimate, idk if you can call it killing since it’s basically a remote cyborg. It was a tense convo that mark came into hotheaded and messed it up, and continues to mess up, attacking Cecil when he shows up to the missile base, and then smashing his way into the pentagon. Cecil hasn’t been aggressive this whole time and only uses measures to protect himself and his facilities but mark keeps coming back to poke Cecil because he has the strength too.
Big Fuze
2025-03-03 16:03:50 +0000 UTCSmall detail about viltrumite executions, they behead the victim by slicing with their hand as we've seen Omni-Man do, especially to Immortal when he killed the Guardians in S1. In this episode before the execution was interrupted, the viltrumite executioner prepared his hand to do the same to Nolan, implying that Nolan has either done executions like this or felt like Immortal was worthy of their tradition in S1.
Scythe
2025-03-03 16:00:57 +0000 UTCThey asked if Battle Beast could survive in space. Apparently, while he can survive, he can't actually breathe or fly around in space, at least as well as Allen or Viltrumites. He just . . . doesn't care.
H-Bomb 24
2025-03-03 15:59:23 +0000 UTC10:33 - To be fair, it's not like Mark would ever not fight to defend Earth, so no matter his relationship with Cecil, they're still on the same side.
David Bodor
2025-03-03 15:56:33 +0000 UTCThe thing with viltrumite longevity is that it affects all of them. So unlike Immortal they don't outlive their fellow viltrumites by centuries.
David Bodor
2025-03-03 15:45:47 +0000 UTCI'm not sure the affect of immortality is the same between Immortal and Mark and other Viltrumites. It's natural for Viltrumites, but humans aren't meant to live that long, so him being so far gone tragically makes sense.

blue_haruki
2025-03-03 15:21:23 +0000 UTCKenny's totally right about the blue and black suit for Invincible being a parallel for Peter having the symbiote suit which was the alien that formed with Eddie Brock to then become Venom after Peter and the Symbiote separated. They both symbolize darker emotions/behaviors/times for the characters. Even in modern comics, when Peter is not with the symbiote, he still dawns a fabric version of the black suit for darker moments as Spider-Man compared to his red and blue classic (for example Peter assaulted kingpin in prison while wearing the cloth black suit).
