2024-10-22 10:44:23 +0000 UTCFun fact about the Hazbin hotel Logo. If you look closely there are symbols hidden in it that represent each of the main 7 characters. The apple at the top for Charlie, the antlers next the apple is Al, there are webs for Angel, hearts for Husk, gears for Sir Pen, a needle next to the hearts for Nifty and the middle black line is a spear shape for Vaggie.

2024-10-06 21:02:23 +0000 UTCYeah, and in the pilot he shows up moments after she calls Lilith and leaves a voicemail saying she needs help. And, Alastor's backstory is that he arrived in hell and had power seemingly from day one. He used that power to bring down a bunch of overlords. Husker says he's on a leash. I don't know why a lot of people in the fandom seem to be completely oblivious to what, to me, seems completely obvious: Alastor is Lilith's cat's paw, she empowered him to remove overlords who might stand in the way of Charlie's dreams, and is forcing him to help Charlie. That doesn't seem to be subtle or mysterious to me in any way whatsoever; Lilith has been the elephant in the room since literally the very first scene of the first episode, but *so many* people (not Kenny!) are blind to that entirely and instead prefer to take Alastor at face value, hearing his part of the song in this ep and thinking "Golly, Alastor sees Charlie as his daughter," when he's clearly just doing that to rile up Lucifer.

2024-10-05 01:38:40 +0000 UTCThought that absolutely just bored deep into my brain and will not leave for a long time I'm sure. Lucifer and Alastor need a cover of Loathing from Wicked. I have a MIGHTY NEED!

2024-10-04 13:19:26 +0000 UTCIt gets complicated when looking at the origins. Them being 1 person is the modern depiction. Satan is only mention a very few times in the Bible and Lucifer only once. Neither mentions implies they're the same person and Lucifer is more a metaphorical way to refer to a specific unnamed king and the planet Venus (often called the morning star or light bringer during this time period). Satan is not an evil character in the old testament but is in the book of revelations.

2024-10-03 12:39:33 +0000 UTCThis is just my own interpretation, but I think the Lucifer v Alister rivalry is analogous to the "new money" vs "Old Money" dynamic, like in the Great Gatsby. From Lucifer's point of view, Alister is no better than any of the other sinners, he's got wealth and power, but at his core, he's still just "one of the poors in a fancy suit." From Alister's point of view, Lucifer isn't meaningfully wealthier or more powerful than him, but he'll never show Alister the respect he feels he deserves for "working his way up." It's not completely that, Luci clearly cares more about the relationship with his daughter than Alister, but they both are just using her as a trophy to fight over, until Luci and Charlie have their duet and Luci comes around on what's really important to him.

2024-10-03 02:37:06 +0000 UTCThis isn't a spoiler or anything but if you remember during thw first episode charlie said she hasn't seen her mother in 7 years. Then in the next episode vox says Alistair has also been gone for 7 years. Soooooooooo do what you want with that information

2024-10-02 13:03:32 +0000 UTCI think that in some takes of this religion, Satan and Lucifer are one and the same, but in this universe, and some others, Satan is a separate entity from Lucifer

2024-10-02 00:45:17 +0000 UTCI certainly think there was a war between heaven and helk in the past. This is usually in scripture and hell lost the war. It'll explain a lot of things here. Heaven wanting to make sure it never happens again, lucificer seeing too many people die in war so accepting any measure that keeps charlie safe.

2024-10-01 15:09:17 +0000 UTCLilith supposedly thrived in Hell, whereas Lucifer sunk into depression so it's obvious why the two split, but I have to wonder where Eve is in all of this, because Lucifer supposedly tempted her too, so is she in Heaven or Hell? Could it be that maybe Eve is actually Charlie's mom? Maybe Lilith ran off way early to form her demon army to rebel against Heaven, hence the exterminations, and Lucifer was instead with Eve.
David Bodor
2024-10-01 06:49:39 +0000 UTCOh also one thing people kinda forget. Yes, in this version of the mythology Lilith came first, but Eve does still exist, so there's a bit of a mystery as to wtf is going on with those two. We heard in ep1 that Lilith and Lucifer fell in love, but when both were punished, unlike Lucifer, Lilith thrived in Hell and created some sort of an army? Possibly the reason the exorcists come down every year to prevent an uprising? Not sure there, but Charlie mentiones his mom and dad split, the assumption is that Lilith is his mom, but also where is Eve? Lucifer tempted Eve first and gave her the fruit and then she shared it with Adam, so is she in Heaven or Hell and what's her relationship with Lucifer like?
David Bodor
2024-10-01 06:44:23 +0000 UTCThe fruit of knowledge of good and evil is often viewed as essentially giving humanity its free will, which is an interesting point, because Lucifer in this case was punished to only ever see the people who do the worst with the free will he gave them. No wonder his spirit was crushed.

2024-10-01 02:20:25 +0000 UTCpossibly. and continue spoilers I also think its possible he was watching to see if she needed the help. Deal or no deal, Lucifer just took part in the battle. the king of hell was fighting the army of heaven. That is a declaration of war or at least showing that he is no longer staying out out of it. it certainly can lead to escalation of the conflict real easily. Lucifer's inaction is seen as a negative and in ways it is, but it was also keeping some semblance of a truce. not much of one but full out war between heaven and hell will look a lot different and be a lot more costly for both sides.

2024-10-01 02:05:36 +0000 UTCOh this just made me think of something related to the finale. So Spoilers. . . . . . . So in the final fight he only shows up after Razzle/Dazzle gets killed and people kind of joke about it because he says in his song how he charges a sacrificial lamb. But I wonder if the deal he makes is literally just that he won't/can't interfere so long as no hellborne are killed during the raids. Despite Adam attacking the hotel directly, it is still only sinners being killed at that point, but the death of one of the goats would be the angels explicitly breaking the deal and harming one of the hellborne, which would give him leeway to interfere since the contract would be voided.

2024-10-01 01:50:02 +0000 UTCFun Fact! At around 2:01 you see a bunch of family pictures, including a teen emo phase Charlie and a younger Lucifer wearing a similar suit to what Charlie wears now. She really does look up to him!

2024-10-01 00:37:56 +0000 UTCThere are a few theories on Alastor’s “leash”. Also, just some lore that gets spelled out a little more. There are different entities for each of the 7 Deadly Sins that I don’t believe are really spoilers. Sin of Pride: Lucifer Morningstar. Sin of Wrath: Satan. Sin of Gluttony: Beelzebub. Sin of Greed: Mammon. Sin of Lust: Asmodeus. Sin of Envy: Leviathan. Sin of Sloth: Belphegor.

2024-10-01 00:12:00 +0000 UTCEver since I started to watch HH I always liked to look into Alasotr's behavior in this bc you might think it's out of character for a former serial killer and current overlord to care about something, but a serial killer like Alastor can fool people by acting normal but sinister thoughts captivate him. With many killers, they don't do anything without an ulterior motive that benefits them or puts a new victim in their line of sight. After all, according to his song, he is the equal opportunity killer. Oh, and the producing screams of overlords on the radio I feel like he did the same thing with his victims when he was alive, he would kill someone wait for their missing person's report to become public, and then announce that report on the radio for all to hear something to help him reminisce about his kills.

2024-09-30 19:59:49 +0000 UTCLucifer is far more powerful than Alastor and its the main reason he was so antagonistic towards him. He doesn't like that someone who doesn't even register him in their radar as a threat is on what he sees as his territory
Lucky
2024-09-30 19:45:49 +0000 UTCI have a theory about who Alastor is bound to, but it's only supported by the black tentacles, green light, and other similarly minor and background things. I wont say until you've finished season one. It's less likely to be true than the popular theory, but imo, far more interesting.

2024-09-30 19:03:46 +0000 UTCLucifer really is a bit of an enigma. My persona current theory is that maybe, Lillith (the Mom) had something to do with the rift between Charlie and Lucifer. Like, don't misunderstand me, I think Lucifer has depression and/or ADHD and those things make it really hard for him to keep up lines of communication (as someone with exactly that problem, I feel that) and this is what leads to their long non-communication, but in the flashback, we do see Lillith take Charlie away from Lucifer, just as he is about to show her his ideas, to bring her into his orbit. CHarlie said in the beginning of this episode that her parents split. i wonder if Lillith said something like "He/she really doesn't wanna talk to you, I think he doesn't care/she blames you" to both of them, facilitating a wedge, where none had been.

2024-09-30 16:14:56 +0000 UTCMy own take on Alastor's reaction to Lucifer is rooted a bit in some of the lore that got dropped by Word of God, but without spoiling that, I think it's telling that Alastor got famous for murdering powerful Overlords, but is also on good terms with other Overlords, particularly Zestial. Specifically, I think it's telling that the ones he works *with* are the ones who actually take care of the people under them. My theory is that Alastor, while absolutely a psychopath, is kind of Dexter-like in that he knows he's evil, he revels in it, but he directs that evil at *other evil.* Those who have power and misuse it. The Overlords he killed were the same ilk as the Vees, Husk was an Overlord that maybe didn't himself hurt the souls he owned but *did* waste his responsibility to them by gambling them to worse people, and *Lucifer* is the most powerful man in Hell and just shuts himself away and does nothing with that power. Meanwhile Zestial and Carmilla clearly both care about their responsibilities, a later character we meet that he's friends with is absolutely top notch leadership, and Charlie, however idealistic and naive Alastor sees her, is actively working to make Sinners lot in afterlife better. Anyway that's just my two cents on it.
Ferret
2024-09-30 16:14:11 +0000 UTCLucifier is the strongest in hell among all the circles of hell (pride, wrath, etc.)- he is the top dog. I think both of you are unto something as to why Alastor is acting "out" around Lucifier. I'm not sure either, but I like both those theories you had :) I legit look forward to each next episode reaction =3

2024-09-30 15:28:38 +0000 UTCPossibly. There's a theory he could have adhd or autism with ducks being his special interest. Depression by itself can also explain it though just thinknits another interesting theory.

2024-09-30 15:11:20 +0000 UTCLucifer is just a typical case of depression, especially in men. Forgetful/scatterbrained, avoids contact with loved ones, and so on.

2024-09-30 15:07:03 +0000 UTCBasically he's trying to protect her from the most traumatic event of his life. He is a bit irrational how he goes about it but trauma responses are not natural. He was kicked out of his home by his family just because he had different ideas and saw flaws.

2024-09-30 14:52:39 +0000 UTCThe trailer for the second half of Helluva Boss does seem to suggest this, but since we have only the one line of dialogue from him so far I'm not sure we can say so for certain.
Kyle MacDonald
2024-09-30 14:49:51 +0000 UTCLucifer's depression is pretty key to why he didn't want to help Charlie. It's not thst he doesn't want her to be sad. He doesn't want them to break her the way he was broken. Lute also says in the first episode that the only reason hellspawn aka Charlie and other demons born in hell are not destroyed like sinners is because of a deal Lucifer made. They can literally kill her in heaven if they want. So it's both not wanting her hopes and dreams to be destroyed the way his were that led to the depression he's in as all he does is see the how bad people uses his gift of free will and for her own safety.
