Don't know if it's too late to add to this, but there's also the contrast between how Mei Mei and Nanami view children. Mei Mei is both grooming her brother and willing to use him as bait and sacrifice him in order to win a fight. While Nanami has said in season 1 "I am an adult, you are a child, I have a duty to prioritize your life over my own".

And his technique is "Blood manipulation" a hereditary Technique of Kamo Clam. Same as Kamo Narotoshi (the arrow guy from TODO school) Giving a new dynamics for Yuji being part of the same bloodline as CHOSO and the Arrow Guy.
