I always thought it was fairly obvious Muzan would want to Kill the leader of the demon slayers and ensure his bloodline can't continue to rally the other demon slayers in the future. Never occurred to me there could be a theory that he could have been a Battery of some sort.

2024-08-06 22:18:39 +0000 UTCRemember last season (first episode) when Muzan got angry at the Upper Moons for not being able to find the Ubayashiki family? Doma (UM2) responded saying something along the lines of "tracking not being [his] specialty". That's very likely the reason why Muzan decided to promote Nakime (who's already in charge of the Infinity Castle), rather than find/make a demon. He needed a demon with abilities that specialized in stealth/recon, and Nakime happened to be the right one for the job.

2024-08-06 17:24:00 +0000 UTCI'm pretty sure at some point last season (I think ep 1) Muzan said that the only reason why the Demon Slayer Corps has always bounced back from being destroyed was because of the Ubayashiki family's survival. Kagaya has been the load-bearing beam holding the Corps together. He's also the only reason why the Hashira get along with each other as well as they do.

Remember he is the leader of the entire corps...and countless generations of warfare have always placed large emphasis on trying to take down your enemies leadership as a means to cripple your enemy as a whole. Add to that the corps has, after I believe over a 100 years, been able to take out SEVERAL upper moons fairly quickly, he's probably feeling the pressure to do SOMETHING to slow the corps progress!
