He's a normal guy whose job is protecting the world from superpowered threats, and the only way to do that is by being ruthlessly pragmatic, but he does that from a position of actually caring about the people around him. He'll make the tough choices, but he doesn't necessarily *like* making them.

Hence why the Immortal, Monster Girl, Samson, and Bulletproof are all part of the Away Team. Robot has a full body power armor and Eve can create full body armor at will, which is why they are also going.
