That's not how a perception of time from a vastly extended lifespans works Kenny

Zen Reacts

you guys are not being understanding at all of the situation Nolan is in lowkey. He is completely emotionally desensitized that even to show this level of sympathy and acknowledgment of his wrongs is INSANE for someone who belongs to a population of genetically supererior beings who are bred to have no emotion, no remorse, etc… from his POV he literally was married to Debbie and had Mark as a son for what feels like a few weeks probably, and he STILL acknowledges that he loves them and admits he was wrong, turning on his entire civilization.

Team Outbreak Paintball

Nah you’re 100% right

Team Outbreak Paintball

The Black Hole scene should help illustrate the absolutely terrifying power Nolan has. Consider what it meant as a method of suicide, that it would take falling into a black hole for him to die. And then for him to have the strength to pull a spacecraft out of that gravity pit with no issue.

Jacob Blackstein

You guys gotta remember that nolan isnt human he was alive for hundreds of years before meeting debbie hes bound to make some “mistakes”

AtomicEgg

This might be a hot take, but I’m gonna be honest here. I’m kind of baffled that they’re expecting emotional intelligence from a practically immortal super being that has been indoctrinated since birth to be the way that he is. Honestly, it’s a miracle that he’s even as emotionally intelligent as he is, to recognize what he did was wrong and that he’ll never be able to go back.

Reminds me of my high school phobia. I'm left handed and the staples that held booklets together would be poking out - I used to take pages out often from them - so whenever I had to write with my left hand on the right side, my wrists would be right above the sharp pointy end of the staples and I always had this dumb fear of accidentally resting my wrist on it and poking a hole through my veins...absolutely irrational fear, it's just a staple, but it bothered me a lot, I'd try to move the ends back down whenever I'd take out pages.

David Bodor

he experience's time much faster

EndSoul995

The thing is while it is manipulative, it's all true, he's hiding nothing from him, all he is doing is telling him how things are likely to go

Gerardo Mendez

well not really considering years of marriage to him is like a day in the grand scheme

Nolan's redemption is going to be a major uphill climb on a smooth wall. Definitely agree there. However, I think how he is feeling is definitely understandable given his current internal crisis and just as warranted as Debbie's. Debbie has to live with the reality that her husband killed heroes and people alike in cold blood, and nearly killed their son all in a plot to conquer earth in the name of his people. Nolan has to live with himself. After all he did and the fact that he's feeling more like a human, he may not show it, but he's got to be tearing himself part in his head.

I can answer this, it’s actually anything involving wrists like that that makes her look away. Injections, what Donald did, how Power used her blood manipulation to make a hammer in Ep 2 of chainsaw man, all of them are worse for Montana than the train scene in this show

Letts React

If anything it should then take him longer to get over his wife since he experiences time slower

Letts React

I’m so glad you guys realized that not only was mark viewing them as inferior and just bugs but so were you

Bryan

Awww cmon now Montana, You've watched Attack on Titan, with time you've managed to get desensitized about alot of violence and gore because of that and Donald cutting his arm to check for Blood was enough for you to turn your head? 😂

I love her braid weapon so much I was in love fr fr it’s so badass

Also, throughout the whole season, Mark is slowing becoming more of a warrior like his father. He was fighting with himself of trying not to be his father, Cecil says “your father said the same thing”, Debbie says “you’re not your father” and Mark yells “why would you bring that up then?” Then he comes to Thraxa, views the thraxans as a lower life form (like ALL VILTRUMITES VIEW EVERY RACE), sees his father genuinely cares about thraxans just like Mark cares about humans, his father asks him why does he care when he sees the dead thraxans only for Mark to remind him that’s how he should’ve felt on earth, and then Nolan telling Mark to fight like Viltrumite & stop holding back

Alvin Everett

Yup. From a layman's point if view I can easily see him being kicked out for that. It might be too cynical but it almost feels like entrapment. Like he planned it. Probably didn't but yea.

It's always so interesting to see the reactions to Omniman showing Mark the bug wife and the new baby. Like most people react with -gasp- how could you move on so fast? While me I'm like well remember Time is a weird thing for his race considering they live a hell of a lot longer than humans.

Devon P

I’m studying to be a counselor now and taking a class on group therapy, and yeah it’s like group therapy 101 to not meet outside of sessions, or if you do, to not discuss what goes on in sessions outside of them for confidentiality. That scene is a great example of why.

James Jones

1) Nolan wanted to off himself, as we see him going towards the black hole. He never wanted to go to the Thraxan planet. 2) Nolan is defying the Viltrumite empire by being on Thraxa. Saving the Thraxans, being crowned the monarch because he lives longer than them, having a family he could tell the truth to, etc; This is Nolan’s first time doing something not under Viltrumite rule. 3) If Nolan apologized, it would be out of character in that moment. Viltrumite soldiers are trained to not feel sympathy and view everyone else as lesser than them. Because he’s lived for thousands of years, he still fights with that (he grabs Mark by the throat and asks “Why do I feel this way about them? They’re weak,” then tells Mark “if you don’t hold back, we all will die,” and his last words are “Read my books”). 4) You are way off on why he said “Read my books.” You will see why in a future episode

Alvin Everett

One thing that deserves clarification regarding viltrumite-human procreation is that genetically speaking, the children are almost entirely viltrumites. It's not a half-half situation it's more like 99.9% viltrumite 0.1% human. That's why the empire auditions and accepts them same as they would any other viltrumite, if they are strong enough then clearly they must be "pure". Procreation with species that result in children that aren't "pure" viltrumites are not allowed - Mark's brother is purple, so he's further from being a viltrumite than Mark is. That's why he wouldn't even get an audition, he'd just be exterminated on the spot. This gets at the whole nature vs nurture argument of it all too, because despite Mark being almost completely a viltrumite genetically, he's still very much a human.

David Bodor

I think we can’t forget omniman’s upbringing and that he was basically trying to kill himself in the beginning. There seems to be way too much malice and emotional intelligence attributed to how he’s handling merging mark with his new family like it’s some light yagami scheme. He didn’t even seem aware of how much his family on earth would impact his mission i don’t think he was thinking so far ahead with his new family. Given that we see his tears when he left, he likely just wanted that feeling of family again knowing it’s likely he won’t get his family on earth back and then the reality of his situation with vitrum dawned on him later…just like on earth when he had mark with debbie and delayed his takeover.

Veya

We don't expect him to be emotionally intelligent, but we can be disappointed/call him out when he isn't, not being taught how to do that doesn't excuse doing terrible things

Also to play devils advocate Nolan couldn’t go back to Earth like ever he already burned bridges with his family can’t come back and say “hey I’m sorry for almost killing our son and calling you a pet” so he started over in a different world being a better person mind you idk how his people found them and it’s shitty that he didn’t leave the planet before they did come to maybe save them but about the kid and stuff I kinda understand him

Mason Scott

Thank you so much for remembering my comment about the Debby didn’t disappoint

Mason Scott

I feel really bad for the half brother and the rest of the Thraxans, but god Omni man is such a Jackass for dooming them all to a Viltrumite attack, and then asking Mark to help.

Big K

“I was lost when I left earth… so I decided to bang this random cricket”

I love the cut from omnimans new family to debbies mirror of his earlier scene.

Daran Tung

I'm actually glad Nolan didn't apologize to Mark. It wouldn't have felt genuine and stuff. I also think Nolan is using his soldier training and culture as a company mechanism. Probably an unhealthy one but Vertimites are pragmatic to a fault. And thjs is the only pragmatic way to help his new family and it's messed up but he can't deal with that aspect right now and maybe he'll never be able to. Not saying he's a good person at all. But I get his point.

With regards to the therapy discussion I think a major part of it is he broke the rules of the group by letting it know who his partner wae and then by himself decided she wouldn't be welcome to the group. Olga also had her husband killed by Omni man and she is having a different opinion. I'm not saying it isntbvalid of him to have it. But Debbie is just as much a victim of Omni Man as he is and whether she us allowed there should bot be his decision. I can understand the person who runs the group mogjt agree with the position and tell her that or might not. Either way I expect them to handle it much more professionally and make sure Debbie has an avenue to get tbe help she needs

If elmo or big bird showed ultimately I may follow them ion a crazy adventure. Mote out of curiosity than belief. Like ehat the heck are they up to

Tapped the refresh button more than Omni tapped Andressa. (Sorry I had to)
