Enjoy! next ep Thursday!

Oh absolutely, it's realistic. Just not necessarily a good reflection on Enji.

Noboi

I will say, I've handled things very similarly to Natsuo. It's less about constantly arguing, and more about not wanting to be anywhere near these kinds of situations. It's less that we want to do it and more like these kinds of things aren't exactly things we want in our lives.

Noboi

I do think he has some condition, but I don't think it's autism tbf. Although that's very much open to interpretation. I've seen he shows signs of being a narcisist and even being a sociopath.

Noboi

honestly i think endeavour has autism he shows alot of signs.. also there is a thing that peoples quirks do effect their personality like with bakugo and shigiraki as prime examples

chris

I hate that the scene with Endeavor and Touya is supposed to be sad and bittersweet and I'm here like...damn Endeavor be thicc tho

Revin MacGrath

I think it's important to note that characters are often molded in personality by their quirks! Bakugo is explosive because of his quirk Todoroki shoto is often passionate in a very reserved way (Half hot half cold) Endeavor is very fiery! Tokoyami is very edgy Not everyone is like this, but it's a common theme

Aaron Ly

Natsu was making a point when he said "what happened to our big brother Toya", not asking a question. The audience is to believe Toya is dead. That's not a Spoiler

💥Katsuki BakuGONE💥(Kacchan)

Kacchan: you march in the & tell her we aren't & never will be friends! Me: all I hear is love. Lmao

The reveal of Freeze fawn and flight

If I grew up in a toxic household like the Todoroki siblings, I think out of all of them I'd probably handle it the most like Shoto. I wouldn't hang it over Endeavor's head for the rest of his life because I do believe if there's a will, there's a way to change, and part of me would be holding out hope for that. But I damn sure wouldn't allow either of us to forget or act like damage wasn't done. Arguing, harping, and pointing fingers all the time like Natsuo, would actually fuck with my mental health. And trying to place a bandage over a stab wound like Fuyumi wouldn't work for me either because I feel like that would make things forced and awkward.

Kenny needs to play the All for One theme music whenever Montana spots Big Chicken

Ricky Bobby

Also, the plural for "bison" is "bison". Come on, Kenny. I'm not trying to sound like that guy; Tenzin literally said it in that very episode. 😅

H-Bomb 24

Just my opinion as someone 100% caught up with the anime, It really wouldn't have been a spoiler to just tell Montana he died. That's explicity what the show wants to convey to the viewer. those shrines are incredibly common in Japanese households for their deceased relatives, so any japanese person watching that would automatically know this person is supposed to be dead. So telling her hes dead wouldnt have been a spoiler. It's just a cultural difference there that kept her from realizing he's supposed to be 100% dead

Renn.88

The look to camera with Toyas Shrine was perfect lol I love how Kenny reacts when he knows the spoilers

Ashley Twigg

I don't think the "what happened to our big brother Toya!" was meant as a question. I think it may have just been on the end of the list of things and Natsu was stating it without being specific

Endeavor is one my favorite mha characters the way I see him he’s a man blinded by his drive to be number one which ruined his family and now that he’s number one he sees the damage. In the dream he doesn’t see himself at the table because he knows he’ll never be there he’s done to much damage to them but he wants to be better so he tries even though he can never undo his wrongs but he tries anyways to be better then the monster he was.

Lord Boke

@Kenny, TOTALLY understand that, my partner is in a similar situation to Montana (granted, the details are probably much different) so I don’t want to diminish her feelings or reaction to the content. I agree that his behaviour isn’t correct, and the Endeavour story is more than just him realizing what he wants to protect, it’s being faced with your past and accepting the consequences of them. For spoilers sake, I won’t explain any more of the progress the todoroki family has made, since there are probably some patreon folks that haven’t caught up, but I’m really looking forward to seeing how you guys comment on the accountability aspect. Also happy to chat more privately if you’re concerned the space that I started with this thread is harmful in any way. I’ll just say: My stance on Endeavour is, I think he’s a terrible person not worthy of redemption, but is one of my top 10 favourite characters on the show, simply for how Horikoshi has written him as a person.

Danny C

The orange chicken rant was one of the most unexpectedly relatable things Ive heard in a while. The ratio really does exist lol

Deiondre0

@trixie I think the nature of the show made it more reasonable to make it a bit of a gag. But narratively, it’s still problematic. It shows some of the old endeavour peaking through, where the more realized endeavour starts to show closer to the current season.

Danny C

That came to mind as I was typing. 😅 Still, that was a WHILE ago. A little after I first found and subscribed to you guys, in fact.

H-Bomb 24

Haha do u not remember when we missed filming the entire episode with the baby sky bisons?

I think him being upset on not being texted is so ridiculous considering how bad of a father he was/is, he’d be lucky if any member of his family still wants to talk to him after what he’s done, so being all butthurt he’s not being texted is just showing he does not understand just how bad he was, and how valid his family is in not talking to him. Montanas dad did the same thing, and I can say from real life experience it’s the equivalent of being slapped 20 times in the face, then the guy goes in for a hug and when you reject him he’s like “what! Good dads hug! Why aren’t you accepting me!” Which is just so incredibly ignorant to all the slaps and damage they caused. That’s where Montana is coming from, and it’s pretty simple to understand

The scene with Deku and the food was so funny to me when I first saw it because I happened to be watching Food Wars at the same time as this season. (They were both airing on Toonami at the same time.) Food Wars is, well, it's NOT a show I think you should react to, but it's also known for its over-the-top reactions* to and descriptions of food. *As in, the food is so good that it LITERALLY knocks the socks *and everything else* off the people who try the food.

Gestrid

I thought the text scene was done as a comedic gag like they usually do when endeavor exclaims something and bursts into flames, the side kicks even point it out the shoto shouting is getting worse. Even the way its presented at first that hes so proud he was able to get his contact info with fuyumi is goofy, really playing up that out of touch dad trope.

TrixieTurner

I honestly never saw it as anything more than Endeavor wanting to try to be a good parent. Good parents want to be a part of their children's lives. My own mom, from time to time, will simply text "hello?" if I haven't yet answered her back. It's admittedly sometimes annoying, but I know it's nothing more than her wanting to be a part of my life.

Gestrid

Both of those can be true! Him not being understanding AND not having common sense. The scene is supposed to be frustrating to watch, because Endeavour is, for all intents and purposes, a “villainous” figure to a “heroic” character (shoto). We’re almost never supposed to be on Enji’s side, but we’re given moments to root for Endeavour. That’s the other part that makes the whole situation complex. Not black and white, but RIDICULOUSLY grey

Danny C

Tbf, Endeavor's texting thing is pretty frustrating. Like, it feels less like Endeavor doesn't understand social situations, and more like Endeavor is just ignorant and lacking in common sense, which is something that becomes more obvious with his character going forward.

Noboi

The texting scene comes up a lot in the discussion, so figured I’d give how I saw the scene. I feel like we expect endeavour to be completely understanding of social situations, when we can forget that he’s also a character growing in front of us. So when he gets upset that shoto isn’t answering, we immediately think “oh this is classic endeavour being a jerk and neglecting how his kids feel” when in reality, I don’t think he actually knows how to feel in this situation. Should he feel frustrated that his son isn’t open to his teachings since shoto has grown up? Or should he be more understanding and give him his space to come around eventually. What I like about his dream is that it recontextualizes his response. He wants to be a proud father and teach his son everything he knows in order to help him be who he wants to be (like he should have been when shoto was younger) but the dream shows you that he’s beginning to understand that he may not deserve to have that role. Or at least, he doesn’t deserve to ask for that role, it can only be given to him by shoto. As the todoroki family plot continues, I hope Montana sees (which I’m sure she does) that endeavour is also growing, and not just his kids and wife. It’ll be interesting to see what she and Kenny discuss as more info gets provided, as with the texting scene, things get recontexualized.

Danny C

Love the reaction. The next few episodes are gonna be so great for discussions!

Alex

Kenny’s impression of Montana as deku is too perfect

Seth

Montana: is he praying? kenny: 👁 👁

Butthead faxe

I totally think it is loool

Danny C

I hate that I don't understand the joke lol

Noboi

Honestly, Natsuo handled that dinner really well considering how traumatic it likely was for him.

Noboi

You guys have had mic problems in the past, but camera problems is a first. 😅

H-Bomb 24

🤣🤣🤣

H-Bomb 24

Bakugo's, "What the crap? Why the crap?" never fails to crack me up. 🤣 Also, yeah. Fuyumi's the sweetest. I'd like it of she met more of her brother's friends. 🥰

H-Bomb 24

She is so real for the big chicken

Haley Mather

I am very interested in Montanas opinion on the next episode. I would beg for a double upload, but I don't think the topic is "hype" enough to justify it :b
