While I think that Amber "knowing" Mark was Invincible last episode was either A: Her lying, or B: Her being truthful, but unloading a huge bit of verbal abuse because she was so fed up with him lying, I think it honestly makes sense they'd try to make up after the whole finale fight. The entire reason Mark started to chose superhero-ing over his relationship because of the huge push from his father, a lie told to him that he must chose the superhero life because he's essentially indebted to his Viltrumite blood. He truly wanted to choose her again and again, but was always stopped because of Omni-Man's influence. Not to say they're a healthy couple, that's a whole 'nother can of worms.

2024-06-26 16:26:52 +0000 UTCi don’t know if this is a spoiler or not so somebody please let me know if it is and don’t read this if you don’t want to get potentialy spoiled : viltrumites were sent to conquer planets and grow the empire. one of the ways to do this was to create viltrumite hybrids and see what’s most compatible. and when it comes to viltrumites, humans are the most compatible. so not only was omni man raising another viltrumite to help take over the planet, but he was seeing if earth can be used as breeding grounds

Someone who thinks his powers and his "superior" biology means they're insignificant compared to him. *Mark* is Superman. Mark is, in every biological way, an alien as much as Clark, but like Clark he was raised as a human, with human beliefs and values and seeing himself as human even though he's actually not.

But Nolan’s job, to take Earth alone, is about as close as Viltrumites have to a vacation. It’s an assignment given as a reward to their most favored soldiers, and the planet is completely theirs to do with as they wish for 100 years. After which the Viltrumite will make preparations to assimilate it ahead of the arrival of an occupation fleet. Nolan really did, at least initially, start a family merely as recreation. Mark having powers does change things for a couple reasons, but those could be considered spoilers.

Omni Man was their greatest hero. Their icon. The one they relied on even after the guardians fell. How many will just willingly sign a peace treaty for advance aid from his planet nit realizing they're signing away their rights? If no one solves the guardians murder then the finale never happens. The world continues to build trust in Omni Man.

2024-06-16 22:56:21 +0000 UTCI think Nolan waiting for Mark to get his powers is more like he was hoping that Mark wouldn’t have powers, that way both Debbie and Mark would die from a natural human life span and he could just wait them both out before enacting the plan, because he didn’t want to involve his family. This whole episode changes when you realize that everything Nolan is saying isn’t necessarily him trying to scold Mark, but rather Nolan trying to convince himself that what he’s doing is right. You’ve gotta understand, Nolan’s lived for thousands of years, this is all he’s ever known for the longest time, and now he’s experienced personal growth while on Earth and thats really messing with him. I think the line “Yeah, yeah, your mother changed everything. She turned this from a job into a home.” is really important to think about.

2024-06-16 17:16:09 +0000 UTCSome fun context: Nolan is at least 2000 years old according to the official stuff, while he’s been on Earth for 20 years. 1/100th of his life has been on Earth and it has deeply impacted him but how can you turn your back on the last 2000 years? Nolan has almost certainly conquered many other worlds, how can this one be different? If this one shouldn’t be conquered, what does that mean for the dozens or maybe even hundreds of other worlds he’s had a hand in conquering? His internal struggle is my favorite thing about this show and I can’t wait for you guys to dig into more of it!

It's a 10 episode miniseries with a Fall/Halloween theme, so the timing would be perfect (if you were to choose it, the finale would drop on the week of Halloween).

2024-06-16 16:07:21 +0000 UTCOne theory I've heard (and agree with) is that during the last 20 years Nolan grew to love Debbie and Mark enough that he subconsciously didn't want Mark to develop his powers. He would've preferred waiting for Debbie and Mark to die of old age before continuing his mission, so they wouldn't have to see who he truly is (waiting 70 or 80 years wouldn't be a big deal for the Empire given their lifespan). Nolan was visibly upset when Mark revealed he got his powers back in episode 1. In that moment, Nolan knew couldn't put off his mission anymore. The part of him that cared realized he'd have to break their hearts.
