Reading the comments and I’m a little confused…I thought someone would’ve pointed it out but I thought the shrine aspect WAS canon in the show?? Isn’t that what happened when they went to crescent island then avatar Roku took over Aang’s body just like now? That was the only time we saw a past avatar take over and it was because he was at the shrine…I may be mistaken tho idk..

2024-05-25 09:55:49 +0000 UTCFor me it feels like the same as when it went from Avatar to Korra. Same essence but different shows. I think it’s largely unrealistic to expect an exact 20+ plus show. As far as the shrine rule goes that doesn’t seem far fetched for me. Considering he only was taken over by past avatars a few times in the actual show it doesn’t seem detrimental.

It feels like they've taken away from the characters too much. Yes, sokka was somewhat sexist...but that was part of his character growth to meet the kyoshi warriors and realize he was mistaken. Then this lazy ass "Gran Gran gave me the scroll" I'll keep watching the reactions as y'all release them...but I'm not hopeful it's going to get better... truly sad!

2024-03-20 23:14:28 +0000 UTCMaybe we shouldnt take everything for 100% true. Kyoshi could be wrong and Aang proves later that it is possible to talk to them anywhere and anytime. Would fit ATLA imo. I doubt that there are shrines for every single avatar that existed.

2024-03-20 03:50:57 +0000 UTCEh, I'm... not a *huge* fan of most of the changes this show made. I don't like the shrine aspect, either. I will say it seems like they're bringing in some of the stuff that wasn't talked about until the finale in the original show (when Aang summons the past Avatars to get their advice while he was stuck on the Lion Turtle), and I do kind of enjoy that they're setting that up earlier. But, at the same time, the shrine aspect isn't a good addition in my opinion since it'll get contradicted if they choose to include any of the scenes where Aang talks to Roku in seasons 2 and 3. He can't simply go back to the shrine every time Roku calls him.

2024-03-20 02:21:10 +0000 UTCI like that they reference the previous Avatars extended histories from the novels but wish it took more advantage of the material released after ATLA. It would help the show distinguish itself if it was brought up when relevant like Kyoshi’s personal struggles that reflect Aang’s current struggles or how the Kyoshi warriors perceive the fire nation in relation to Rangi one of their founding influences being a firebender.

2024-03-19 16:53:38 +0000 UTCtbh I didn't really like how Katara just got the waterbending scroll essentially handed down to her. I would have been fine if she just never had it at all and learned basic waterbending from watching Aang (who's technically an airbending master) move. It would tie in perfectly with the idea that all bendings are connected and techniques can be learned by watching each other.
