I really think you should give The Promised Neverland, Black Clover, and Hunter x Hunter a look! I think with the Promised Neverland you'll get that deep thinking, questioning what happens next etc and you'll really enjoy it!

First Grade Sorcerer - Day

Sorry Montana, but Kenny was right about the backhanded compliment usage, although it seems like you understood at the end.

Sunshrine

My vote goes to Rurouni Kenshin the remake or The Promised Neverland Season 1 only.

Raul Iggynashow

Is Chainsaw Man not happening anymore? I’d be really disappointed not to see these two analyze the hell outta that group of weirdos.

Graham

Personally I’d love it if you did Vinland saga just for the character analysis 🧐 montana does

Eric

Best part of the reaction!

SouthCoast

Never thought I'd see a reaction paused for three minutes as people debate what "backhanded" means lol

Atticus Omundson

I'm pretty sure it's due to them equating so much of Lelouch's character to Light's, which is distorting their perception of him. A lot of—if not all of—Lelouch's guilt is visible right on the surface in this episode. He makes little effort to actually hide any of it, trusting in Suzaku's hatred and anger and grief to keep him blind to the truth, from looking any closer, though Suzaku still picked up on enough to realize Lelouch still isn't being truthful.

Amileen

I think y’all are hugely misinterpreting Lelouch’s character.

SouthCoast

i agree with all of this. i think another major giveaway for this guilt is the word choice he uses when confronted with Shirley's death. "...also my fault"

Eric C

Edgerunners will definitely make you feel a certain way. It gets my vote if Vox Machina isn't a option.

Bradley Hall

This episode always frustrates me cause I didn’t like him taking the brunt of the sin of the situation but Suzaku wouldn’t have accepted the excuse anyway

Justin Spencer

check out owari no seraph

John

I would highly recommend 86. Has 23 episodes, an emotional masterpiece with political/ethical/psychological topics for deep dive discussions you two always do. It also has scifi which would be a nice change of pace for you guys. Oh and Sawano (Attack on Titan) does the music :)

Ronald Bohne

9:08 Is it just me, or is it not normal to not count family members as friends? I have a brother and I wouldnt call him "my friend". My brother is my brother. Aren't friends always outside of family? Btw I really love the banter between you two. It's one of my favourite things in the videos.

Keyblade

Re:Zero is definitely an incredible show!

Robin B

Honestly thinking about it, JJK twice a week might be best since there’s a lot of info in that show and with both DS and ATLA live action happening this year too it might be overwhelming to start something new. That being said, it’s whatever’s comfortable for you guys! (If you do decide to start another anime, Mob Psycho is a lot of fun)

zzsaturn

A backhanded compliment is actually just an insult with some wit/pettiness involved. Depending on context it can be intended positively but most times it’s meant to insult the person

Kade Massey

When you finish Code Geass is it possible you can wrap up Chainsaw Man since you already watched the first 2 episodes and it's a 12 episode season.

Ramon Fax!

Though this is a middle-ground where could have explained his original intent along with the change of plans before things went horribly wrong.

Darthwin Wright

only part i think was homoerotic was princess schneizel's possible lover saying they have an unusual relationship

Fresh2000

Guys, please start doing JJK twice a week. Honestly would love to see you guys go through it more quickly. Great reaction as always!

Alex

Regarding Lelouch lying to Suzaku: Lelouch blames himself for everything, so this is his way of taking responsibility. He may not have intentionally ordered Euphy to slaughter the Japanese, but he still did it, and so it's still his fault. Plus, he knows Suzaku doesn't wish to hear excuses, and to admit that the entire SAZ Massacre was due to an accidental order, a (very poor) joke even, would, in Lelouch's eyes, count as a massive excuse. Not to mention how it might just rank as even worse an insult to Euphy's memory that her death didn't come about due to a grand scheme brought on by good intentions (freeing the Japanese) from the start, but that it happened because of an ACCIDENT. And Lelouch, without a doubt, knows how dearly, how deeply Suzaku has been clinging onto his horror and grief and hatred of what became of Euphy at Zero's hands, at Lelouch's hands. To admit to it all being an accident would also spit in the face of Suzaku's own feelings, as if making light of the whole terrible tragic situation, and Lelouch just can't bring himself to do that. As for Lelouch painting all his past actions and intentions in a cold, calculating light, from why he "ordered" the SAZ Massacre to why he saved the student council in the hotel-jacking and even Suzaku himself from being executed, by this point Lelouch is just wracked with grief and guilt. As you said in an episode past: Nunnally's been taken, Suzaku's been turned, Kallen is now a prisoner of Britannia, Shirley's dead, and C.C.'s memory has now been erased—he has no one left to lean on or to turn to. This is Lelouch at his lowest, and so the consequences of all his actions have never hit him harder. Essentially, this is his punishment to himself, for all the tragedy that he has wrought. And he absolutely knows it. NOTE 1: I'm going to add onto this: There's the fact of Lelouch's own immense guilt and grief over Euphy's death. After all, she is his favorite sibling, second only to Nunnally. And unlike Suzaku, Lelouch is the one to have killed her. He's literally the one to have pulled the trigger himself. To have set the entire SAZ Massacre into motion. As shown in R2E06, when Nunnally pleads with Zero to help her make the SAZ, "Euphy's dream", into a reality once more, he IMMEDIATELY flashes back to when Euphy did the exact same thing. Even the way they held out their hand in offering to him is similar, which is what triggers his flashback. And then there's how he backs away from Nunnally right after as well, something he is so very prone to do whenever something makes him uncomfortable. NOTE 2: Hell, Lelouch even says it: "So all the sin is mine alone to shoulder." The boyo flat-out admits to taking on all the blame. He's just fucking broken at this point.

Amileen

This episode is titled "The Taste of Humiliation." For Lelouch humiliation tastes like gravel, as in the gravel his face is pressed against under Susaku's boot LOL.

Raul Iggynashow

So I don't think it was even on the list of suggestions before, but I will continue to strongly recommend black clover for y'all. As much as y'all love deku, I know y'all would LOVE asta (the MC of the show) and enjoy making comparisons to MHA. That or Hunter x Hunter, another phenomenal show.

Jinchuriki87

Vinland Saga is also good

Zsolt Lengyel

I think you guys would enjoy the most are Re:zero or Made in abyss or Vivy fluorite eye's song or Parasyte: The Maxim any of those anime are worth watching

Zsolt Lengyel

So, on the subject of Lelouch taking all the blame: personally I feel it's less about embarrassment and moreso telling Suzaku what he thinks Suzaku wants to hear. And I mean, put yourself in Suzaku's shoes, which do you think is worse to hear? "The woman you loved died to further my plans to free Japan and take down an entire nation." or "Sorry bro, didn't mean to turn your girlfriend into a genocidal maniac and execute her. My bad."

No Consequence

lelouch is just someone who is willing to take all the responsibility, he sees himself explaining that euphy being geass as a excuse that doesn't cut it.

Fresh2000

It might be because I have gay brain but the conversation between Suzaku and Lelouch feels so homoerotic😭😭😭😭

Golden Witch Beatrice

Late question. What is a backhanded compliment? Take all the time you want to explain. Hehehe

Raul Iggynashow

Mob psycho is great, are yall planning on watching the CG movie?

Drunner64

Mob psycho next! It’s a tight, complete, and really wonderful story.
