No even though all breathing forms originated from sun breathing they aren’t the same they are weaker for one thing. At this time tanjiro is the last known user of sun breathing.

Really 2 qualifications required to become one. Imo tanjiro deserved to be at least considered after the swordsmith village arc. Don’t want to spoil non manga readers though.

2023-09-12 02:22:18 +0000 UTCThere are certain qualifications to be a Hashira, though they haven't been laid out in the anime yet (Genya hints at one of the conditions later this season). It isn't just "the best" at a certain style, since new styles can be created from other styles.
