2023-12-31 04:35:58 +0000 UTCIts worth noting that the Hashira have known nothing but absolute malice from Demons, they have every right not to trust Nezuko

2023-07-23 15:02:54 +0000 UTCIt does indeed. I used it just recently to watch the new Demon Slayer episodes as they released.

2023-07-18 02:36:55 +0000 UTCI don't think it's a big deal. It's not like knowing someone is Rank 7 and their technique name is a twist but it's good to know overall. But yeah not knowing Flame Style doesn't ruin the show.

2023-07-17 23:41:32 +0000 UTCYeah totes people don't have general conversations in 6 months. It can be shooed away but it's definitely another bit of a plot issue
Peter Amet
2023-07-17 23:30:34 +0000 UTCDoes that work. Fumigation here just says it's shut down and to use crunchyroll so I'd assume it's the same in the US?

2023-07-17 23:29:12 +0000 UTCAs a side note: the Hashira switching tunes as soon as the master comes out, isn't them being fake. They are showing the utmost respect and following proper edicate when the master shows himself. This says more of the master than the hashiras, but also shows that they are willing to put aside their priorities for the corp

2023-06-22 12:53:30 +0000 UTCI like how you talk a lot about the Hashiras and their qualities as leaders just as much as you do with the actual master. I think it's an important theme in the show and one of the things that this show really excels at. I think it does it better than MHA even though it's something MHA puts more emphasis on in its story.

2023-06-20 01:56:11 +0000 UTCI use Funimation to watch demon slayer dub, it actually labels the Hashiras names and style. It also tells you the number rank of each demon

2023-06-18 08:13:08 +0000 UTCWell I just mean like put it on and only watch for the breathing styles like not watch the whole episode

2023-06-18 04:34:25 +0000 UTCShinazugawa (Dude who stabbed Nezuko) is voiced by Kaji Tang who voices Gojo from Jujutsu Kaisen and Osamu Dazai from Bungo Stray Dogs (a show I think y'all would really enjoy as it is very deep and touches on some psychology issues vaguely!). I absolutely love his voice and could probably recognize it anywhere!!!

2023-06-18 01:43:38 +0000 UTCI can understand your reasoning, but with tanjiro being too fucused on getting stronger (and worrying about nezuko), plus with urokodaki being very distant (as mentioned previously due to his students dying), it's unlikely that it would have been questioned at all. Sure, tanjiro may have wondered how urokodaki got as strong as he did etc, but he only trained with him for 6 months before he left him to train alone.
Tom Horne
2023-06-17 23:08:56 +0000 UTCGood points. I was more just going off the fact that he was a former hashira himself, and giyu is a current one. So seems it would have just come up randomly at some point. (Like maybe tanjiro asking him about his experience as a swordsman or something)
Jinchuriki87
2023-06-17 21:41:39 +0000 UTCPrecisely. Even judging up to this point in the show, to avoid any spoilers, its clear that nezuko is a rare case as was pointed out by giyu in episode 1, as well as urokodaki and tamayo. Speaking of tamayo, her and yushiro are also "good" demons, but you need to remember that yushiro was turned and trained by tamayo (and requires way less blood than a normal demon). So that means there are 3 cases so far up to this episode of "good" demons, and the hashira have only just learned about nezuko in this episode / last episode. Considering they have been fighting them for many years at this point and have probably seen many people die, including comrades and friends, it's understandable to be resistant and even straight up in denial about the situation.
Tom Horne
2023-06-17 21:35:04 +0000 UTCMaybe, but in fairness to him, urokodaki only trained tanjiro to be capable of fighting. It was made very clear that he didn't have faith in tanjiro because all his student's kept dying in final selection and urokodaki had given up faith. So him not telling tanjiro everything about the corps is understandable. Even after tanjiro comes back, he only tells him about blood demon art to help tanjiro understand and help him survive more, anything else such as rank would be told at final selection (which it was)
Tom Horne
2023-06-17 21:28:26 +0000 UTCyeah i’m not worked up about it! the breathing styles were just important to know in the episode haha

2023-06-17 21:26:12 +0000 UTCKenny is looking into it, probably to see if there are any sites which show subtitles for japanese text in a dubbed version of the show. They won't be able to watch the show subbed for various reasons. And if he is unable to find a solution, people are able to tell them in the comments any details missed (like Nathaniel Wanner in this one for example)
Tom Horne
2023-06-17 21:24:49 +0000 UTCUnfortunately, they can't watch the episodes in sub, even if its just one off episodes. They've mentioned it previously, but due to their nature among other things, they just can't focus on the show and read subtitles at the same time. I know they said that they struggled with the AOT trailer which was in sub and had to rewatch it multiple times, meaning that a full episode would be too much, especially just to catch a few details they will find out later
Tom Horne
2023-06-17 21:20:42 +0000 UTCI think the hashiras dub voices are great as well as the Aot scream( I prefer the English scream way more than the Japanese) I watch every anime in sub first as it comes out first and still prefer the dub on most anime, obviously if you’re first language isn’t English I can understand the dub not necessarily being your favourite but that doesn’t mean that there are not a lot of superior dubs especially in this day and age. So many anime that I watch in sub just don’t elicit as much emotion as the dub for me personally ( so try take into account that some reactors videos might not be as good if they watch sub instead of dub because they won’t like it as much as you)
Oran Chapman
2023-06-17 19:49:55 +0000 UTCI wouldnt call the hashira fake. They all stay tru to their personalities but they also show absolute respect for the master and are sure to be on the best behavior for him
Zen Reacts
2023-06-17 02:21:51 +0000 UTCThey have said they both have auditory processing issues so sub isn’t an option. I find the dub for this show to be pretty good, especially as we get into season 2 it improves a lot. I think they’ll enjoy it just as much if not more than the sub!
Casey Turner
2023-06-16 22:19:44 +0000 UTCSorry really but those voices of Hashiras do not match somehow very nicely. It is not to the intensity level where you can watch AOT in either voices except Attack Titan's scream which is shit in Dub. This is coming from a person who had to watch English movies for over two decades using subs(lacking spoken english skills) with similar problem as yours where I miss the scene more while reading subs and then have to repeat scenes. But I overcame it because of fact that English movie do not sound good in Hindi dub, and Japanese Animes(most) do not sound good in English dub. If you can try just one episode in sub, maybe Mugen train as most of it is less speaking more action.

2023-06-16 21:04:06 +0000 UTCThe Hashira's response to the situation might seem a bit extreme at first, but I believe that their behavior is perfectly reasonable, considering the circumstances. I think that it's important to remember that Nezuko is the first demon (that the Hashira are aware of, at least) that has ever exhibited this kind of behavior. Also, as Shinazugawa pointed out, eradicating demons *is* the main objective of the Demon Slayer Corps.
brina_kitten
2023-06-16 19:53:27 +0000 UTCIn hindsight of watching this again, you would think urokodaki would've at least mentioned what the hashira are to tanjiro while he trained him. Haha
Jinchuriki87
2023-06-16 17:12:17 +0000 UTCI’m curious to see if anything will change in regards to which Hashira they want to find out about once they see their breathing styles

2023-06-16 17:08:00 +0000 UTCFYI, if you're looking for a website that'll translate the onscreen text, Funimation does exactly that. It doesn't get any brand new shows anymore (it's a long story, but Funimation's owners, Sony, bought Crunchyroll and made it their primary streaming service over Funimation), but it still gets new episodes of shows that already existed on the site before Sony bought Crunchyroll. It's actually where I've been watching even the newest episodes of Demon Slayer and Attack on Titan.

2023-06-16 15:33:24 +0000 UTCI was confused why it didnt list breathing styles, I'll look into a version that shows them!

2023-06-16 15:33:12 +0000 UTCLove the introduction of the Hashira! Also love you analysis of the master's leadership. You guys are one of the few people I've seen explicitly point it out. They respect him but they're not scared of him, which is so important. The subtitles kinda screwed you over, the text that accompanied them with their names should have also included their breathing styles, with 'Breathing Style' + Hashira and their full names. You should already have this information from watching the episode, but since you don't, I explain briefly in the order their text appears on screen, unless you went back and looked or it was explained by someone else. You talked over it but the Hashira are the 9 highest ranking demon slayers in the corps. All 9 are present. Kyojuro Rengoku: Flame Hashira. Passionate/Enthusiastic dude with the fire color palette. Tengen Uzui (Oo-zoo-ee): Sound Hashira. Kept talking about flare and vibrancy. Kanroji Mitsuri: Love Hashira. Kept talking about how cool/cute everyone was. Himejima Gyomei: Stone Hashira. The one with the beads and kept crying. He said 'Nami Amida Butsu,' a Buddhist chant. Tokito Muichiro (Moo-ee-chi-row): Mist Hashira. Airhead, not really focused. Obanai Iguro (Ee-goo-row): Serpent Hashira. One with the snake. Giyuu Tomioka: Water Hashira. You know him lol. Shinobu Kocho: Insect Hashira. You've also seen her from the end of the spider mountain arc. Sanemi Shinazugawa (Shee-nah-zoo-gao-wuh): Wind Hashira. Stabbed Nezuko a bunch.
Nathaniel Wanner
2023-06-16 15:28:54 +0000 UTCyou guys really need to get subtitles for the text on screen because you missed all of the hashiras breathing styles this episode😭😭
jolly
2023-06-16 14:59:19 +0000 UTCI think if you watch this episode in SUB it’ll tell you their breathing style, cause when we get introduced to the hashira, when those title cards pop up, it’s supposed to say both their name and breathing style! But if you want I can tell you who has what breathing style!
Ashley Garcia
2023-06-16 14:54:24 +0000 UTCA lot of dubbed anime (including Demon Slayer) unfortunately just forgets to go back and add the subtitles for any Japanese writing in frame. Just like how Rui's eye didn't have the "lower 5" subtitle in episode 18

2023-06-16 14:53:14 +0000 UTCIs anyone gonna mention their breathing style was mentioned when the hashira were introduced...?

2023-06-16 14:48:05 +0000 UTCI think the subs for English audio just leave that out.
Tyler Jacobs
2023-06-16 14:46:14 +0000 UTCi thought it was weird that you turned on subtitles for the Hashira names but didn´t look at the breathing techniques they have, or you just didn´t want to know

2023-06-16 14:39:43 +0000 UTCMatthew Mercer does voice both this character and Levi, along with way too many other character to list. I know you mentioned D&D recently. He also DM’s for Critical Role which might be worth lookin into for you. Not for a reaction series but just some great D&D and storytelling. They turned their first campaign into an adult animated show on Prime called The Legend of Vox Machina. That one would be a fun reaction series!
