There is no connection. Just made by the same studio so they were able to do a little Easter Egg. It is a great show, though!

Imani Brooks

Also, Light only lost because of someone else's actions, imo if he didn't rely on someone else, he probably would've won since, like near said, he didn't think about a fake notebook. So his downfall was due to one person's bad judgment Also this show and manga came iut early 2000s and for that time this was INSANE and the lore behind it just added to it too. Like no one knew who the author's identity was, it was kept a secret, and in the DVD box there are a few extra scenes that hint of Light's shinigami form

First Grade Sorcerer - Day

About the mid-episode credits, once they ran out and started re-showing the original rules, it was actually a reminder and fore-shadowing of the episode, like how death note users can neither go to heaven nor hell, it was a reminder about Light for when he dies

First Grade Sorcerer - Day

i just want to say that if you didn't catch it Misa Misa was jumping of the building, you don't actually see it but she's standing on the other side of the railing and i would make cents since she said she couldn't live without light. just saying anyway love you guys this was a great show.

There is ONE (1) good live action adaption of death note and that’s the first two live action Japanese films. The CGI is totally bunk but the way they adapted the story to fit into two films is so interesting. I’m like Kenny; to this day I’m so obsessed with Matsuda and the fact that he was the one to stop Light in the end. It makes rewatching Matsuda’s earlier scenes in the beginning the show so much more interesting. I always thought it was the ultimate culmination of Matsuda sympathizing with Kira’s cause of killing people who do wrong for the greater good, but foiled against Light and proved Matsuda was the good guy with that ideology and the means to do harm all along. The question posited at the beginning of what the “right thing” to do when put in the situation Light was at the beginning of the show can only be answered when you have one person with the means who does harm and one who has the means and does not. In my own interpretation of Death Note, Matsuda is the proof that Light was never a good guy to begin with.

slightecho

If you want more light and L they have a show called death parade set in a loose connection to death note it’s pretty interesting

Eric

Well at least Light got to drop his mask for once lmao

NICK FROST

I feel Death Note has been my favorite reaction so far. It just had so much to analyze and talk about which is why I love your reactions. Maybe Attack on Titan might surpass Death Note based on how it ends but we'll see. Super hyped for Code Geass. That's going to be another amazing series you'll have to use your brains for. Plenty to analyze like Death note. Once that's done I'll recommend other anime that would be perfect for you. This was honestly an amazing journey. Thank you for this reaction. Thank you for this channel. This channel is my favorite youtube channel believe it or not. Hope you guys do this for many many years to come and expand the channel further.

Keshan Fonseka

Very nice, please watch L's funeral and L's monster speech

Mikey

You guys really need to react to two clips that add to this series. L’s funeral and L’s monster speech. Their very short like 2 minute clips but they add a lot to the series and both are on YouTube dubbed in english

Mortis

So I would like to once again say to you. You need to watch 2 clips of this show that are available on YouTube. L’s funeral and L’s monster speech. Both are on YouTube in dub and they really add to the series.

Mortis

I love the ending of Death Note. Seeing how Light ends is truly fitting for his character. I feel like a lot of people don't realize this, but Light's character is a Hubris character. He is always destine to fail due to his own ego. Seeing him try to justify his actions like he is a god but only to be reminded from a child that he is no god. He is only a man, or as Near put it; a crazy serial killer. It's poetic that how he was reminded he was human by getting shot and dying. Very poetic and I can honestly write essays about this series. I am so happy you guys enjoyed it just as much as I did! Can't wait for the next series.

BB.Creative

Fyi, it's strongly implied that Misa Amane committed suicide (the final scene where she's standing on the edge of the roof). Overall, fantastic series reaction!!

gogetassgk

can't believe it's over already... I remember being so happy it started :'D

bluemilk

THANK YOU SO MUCH for reacting to Death Note- ya'll are amazing and I love the reactions, but Death Note made me so incredibly happy that you reacted to it. Death Note is obviously my favorite anime of all time. I used to think it was slightly sexist, and I mean barely honestly, especially compared to other animes. Having rewatched it I actually have changed my mind (I also was watching Code Geiass at the time and might have confused some scenes from that one for Death Note somehow lol) the fan service scenes were barely anything (but honestly, it was cheap to include them at all especially for such a smart anime), and I was just mostly mad that Naomi Misora died (but makes sense since she was too smart), and on re-watch I realized that her husband, though not the most progressive language, was just scared for her safety since he later calmed down and told her what happened on the bus. Also, it sucked watching so many women fall for Light's charms, but so did the men around him to be fair. The fact that he cried out for the women he took advantage of and hurt was a bit of justice on top of watching him lose his cool in the end as well. For me, this anime is still my fave and a 10/10 :)

LadyBee

Never Said that other people can’t like the show ?

Big Fuze

Light couldnt kill Mello because he never saw his face

Sadri

I don't think Light actually regretted all he did, i believe he just regretted getting caught and he was really about creating a new world cause he was "bored", that's what he told ryuk the first episode

fatou

Misa killed herself by the way , that's way she was on top of the tower

fatou

I don't think he knew what Mello looked like, especially since he got the burns on his face.

Drunner64

Personally, I see light not taking the time to kill Mello as a giant mistake. He knew his real name (Mihael Keehl), knew how to spell it thanks to his father and had plenty of time. Even if you argue that light was under super suspicion, once light was able to speak to Takada and Mikami through notes, he 100% should have removed Mello. He even goes as far as to tell Takada to be on the lookout for him, and must have given her his real name (since she never got the shinigami eyes). The only thing that light wouldn't know about is Matt, but even then, Matt would be a complete wildcard as far as anything goes

Tom Horne

Would highly recommend checking out the manga version of Light’s death. It’s better and more fitting IMO. The anime changed it significantly.

Wade Kruse

PLEASE watch L's monster talk and his funeral

Leonel Colina

She also closes her eyes before the camera pans away, which could be interpreted in any number of ways (both literal and symbolic).

Merfhew

It's an interesting conversation about who won, given that Light was caught out because of Mikami's mistake and his own arrogance, but I would submit that those trying to catch Kira never murdered anyone to do it while Light played fast and loose with literally anyone he wanted to get his way so one of them definitely wins in terms of the moral higher ground.

fr0st

And yet, one could argue that Light's failure to consider the potential risk of Mikami making a mistake... as a mistake itself.

Merfhew

pleeeeaaaase consider reacting to cowboy bebop

Carl

YOU HAVE TO SEE L’s MONSTER TALK AND L’s FUNERAL!!

Near didn't outsmart Light, Light totally outsmarted Near and knew ALL his plan that was perfect, even Near admitted that Light was going to win if not for Mikami mistake

Sadri

To be honnest i was rooting for Light the entire show, no matter if you liked him or not he is one of the best protagonist ever.

Sadri

Check out the alternate (fandom?) ending / what happens to Light after his death.

Michal Kubán

I will miss this :(

Zftgftgg

Oh god here come the L fanboys angry saying the rest of the show they disliked. Who cares Lets react enjoyed the whole thing and were here for them not you complainers.

KP

Anime ending was much better and thats why they changed it and the author approved it.

KP

Light wasn't outsmarted do you guys even pay attention to the show? If it wasnt for Mikamis screw up Light kills everyone there and gets away.

KP

This will forever be my favorite anime

Brenda

I personally prefer the anime ending.

ElsesSum

Well, Letts React, it's been interesting.

ElsesSum

I always took Light's behavior at the end of the show as him reverting to the very childlike mentality of "I did x bad thing and now I'm finally facing the consequences so I'm going to cry about it and suddenly feel bad." They deliberately stopped making his eyes red as he was running for his life and he looked terrified. I think in that moment he was genuinely wishing he could go back and live his life before he got the notebook and regretting everything he had done (even if he still believed in the goal of Kira and the new world) and I always took him seeing L in his dying moments as him finally realizing that L was the only true friend he ever had, as much as he never saw it that way when he was alive.

Troqie

Light saved the world but the world never forgave him for that, rest in peace Light 🙏

Dartz0023

I know you guys dont really have a format for reacting to manga but when you guys get the chance on your own free time you should definitely read the 2 separate one shots that take place after the ending. One takes place about a year or two after Light’s death and then the most recent one takes place in 2020! They’re both insanely good and are a fun little extra bit of content to see the world light created after his death.

2nooby2 Idol

Also wanted to add that light said “if he doesn’t get caught than he is justice, but if he’s does he’s a murderer”. However, when he does get caught he tries to justify or run away. I thought that was very interesting as one could argue, he never really believed what he said.

MangaReader03

I loved when shows reintroduce the over arching theme at the end of a series. During Kira’s speech, he asks everyone if killing him would be the right thing to do, and ofc he gives his reasons with global crime rates decreasing, etc. At this point, competition is thrown out the window. The main theme is looped back to L and Lights first confrontation when both claimed to be “Justice” but with different definitions.

MangaReader03

it’s crazy how the anime is so different from the manga. the vibe each of them end with is so different from one another. ryuk is literally such a savage in the manga when it comes to Light’s death, on top of that in the manga there is a whole “post kira” chapter a year after Light’s death.

msbreadloaf

Wasn't really outsmarted but still lol

Bradley Hall

Are you guys gonna watch the extra scenes from Death Note relight? Also while I feel Montana nailed alot of this show I tend to agree with Kenny, Light loved the game, proving himself better but I always felt it was just a way to prove to himself he was right. No one else could/would have done this it had to be him. To maybe quell any self doubt deep inside but all that truly mattered was a better world that's why he talked so much about it in his last moments. Back to the wall.

Bradley Hall

plleeeaasse consider reacting to cowboy bebop

Carl

“I find it interesting Misa lived this whole time” actually that final shot of her standing on the edge of that tower is implied to be her preparing to jump. Don’t know if it’s ever been confirmed, but it’s heavily theorized since she’s standing outside the railing on the very edge

Angel Hernandez

The ending is packed with so much poetic imagery and music. It gave me the classical tragedy vibe I used to study in literature and theatre with the unhappy but resolute ending, and Light's hubris coming due. This show is brilliant, and this reaction series was fun!

Chavy

That would've been awesome. The manga ending makes a bit more sense as to what Ryuk had told him in the beginning which also was kind of poetic in its own way.

William Morales

I love how pathetic Light is in his episode after being outsmarted and outed as Kira. I would have preferred to see Light arrested, tried, and convicted for his crimes against humanity. Giving Light, the worst criminal on Earth, the due process he denied so many others and successfully dealing with him without an extrajudicial execution would have been the ultimate fuck you to the ideology Kira represents.

Doctor Babylon

React to L funeral

Tyron

I am still confused about Near using all of L's knowledge. Because when L died, all the information was deleted. So what information had Near? EDIT: I googled it, and it states that Near started from scratch.

Keyblade

The anime doesn't mention that Ryuk tells Light that there is no heaven or hell for anyone. All humans die the same and there is no god to send them to any place. Everyone goes to mu (nothingness).

William Morales

Seeing Light's mind crumble in the end is a weird mix of satisfying and saddening. Light is a terrible person, but I can't help to feel bad for him. At the same time, it's very satisfying seeing his evilness finally be his undoing. And the catalyst for this satisfaction, for me, comes specially in the fact that he decided to gloat, exactly like he did with Naomi Misora back in the beginning. Having his pride and arrogance be one of the final nails in his coffin is just perfect. I also disagree with Kenny, I 100% think Light Yagami does not feel guilt over his victims. I think that in the end, he feels an existential kind of loss, as his identity is shattering inside him. He is finally seeing himself exactly as he is. Not as a God or as a Savior, but as a small and weak human that happened to stumble upon the Death Note. Death looming over his shoulder finally made him realize that he is nothing more than that.

Lucas Barros

Adding to the chorus I'd be interested in you, or you guys reading the final manga chapter. That alone is interesting but you could watch trailers of all Death Note films (Japan and Netflix) and then end (pipe dream) with a hey if you do X we might watch the movie. A final Death Note bonus video would be super cool and your first look at manga and anime characters in love action all in one! Kinda like the FMA bloopers!

Peter Amet

I just feel like near swooped in and took over , with L it would’ve been much more satisfying if the series ended with his death or L catching light

Big Fuze

I don’t think light felt guilty for killing anyone, I agree that being shot gave light clarity from this trance of evil as he’s calling for takada… like why doesn’t he know she’s dead? Light only cared about being superior to everyone around him, I mean look at the amount of people he killed to prove to himself he was doing the right thing. If they wanted to express lights guilt I don’t think they would have used L but someone like his father. I think it showed L standing while light is scared lying on the stairs and dying to show light finally being bested and that’s what light was afraid of always. His ultimate motivation was to cure his boredom though, so he enjoyed competing with L as it gave him something to focus on.

Odd Thomas

You guys should read the manga panels for that (maybe in video, *wink wink*), but the interaction between Light and Ryuk in those final moments it's really great.

Lucas Barros

Not only that, but L was about to figure out the 13 days rule was fake so, without Rem, Light would've probably been in big trouble back then.

Lucas Barros

Greatest anime of all time. I don't get the critiques of the post L episodes. It was honestly perfect. Light's mistakes came from his ego built from years of literally being a god after L died. And using all of L's investigation and data, Near and Mellow added the period at the end. Everything was perfect

Lexi Browning

I don’t know if it needed but I know that you can find somewhere the pieces of scenes or manga panels (I’m not sure) where Ryuk meets certain someone in shinigami world so you maybe would want to check it

ABRIKOS102

Thank you both of this wonderful series reaction! Now that the reaction is finished I gotta say: I love that Kenny kept thinking Matsuda was gonna side with Kira all the way until the end 😆

James S

Personally, I just watched until episode 25, and then just watched episode 37 just to see Light get what was coming to him.

Fukkyu Bisch

Tough ask, but you guys should read/react to the last chapter of Death Note; it's after lights gone and Ide and Matsuda talk about the world.

ChiePet

I do wish we had some final scenes with Light’s mom and sister.

Salad Dressing

I just feel like the thing to remember is that Near got to use all of L's knowledge, so it really wasn't just L 2.0 taking down Kira, it was L's discoveries AND Near's deduction, which I feel like just shows what L could have done if Rem wasn't there.

Letts React

WHAT wow that would have changed a lot

Letts React

Thank you all for watching this incredible series with us! Truly was a thrill ride from beginning to end, and we can't WAIT to show you all what is next for the channel!!!

Letts React

something i dont like about the ending compared to the manga is that they didnt make light beg and cry that he didn't want to die when his name was written in the book

Nerains

Personally I greatly dislike the ending and It should’ve ended at episode 25 and after that episode I was super hyped but once they introduced near I basically lost all interest. Because after this massive challenge that L presented was invalidated because here is L 2.0. All of it just left a very sour taste in my mouth from this otherwise amazing anime .
