Ok.
Ok. Ok. Ok.
So I did the whole rough first draft of Letters From Space Camp, right? (My memoir about going through the Intensive Outpatient Program at the mental hospital in 2019)
Before my agent can pitch it to publishers, I need to actually draw up one of the chapters all nice and finished as an example of what the entire book will look like, so the Big Wigs will be like "Yes, we definitely want to spend money on this book because the art looks clean and professional, not dashed-off as fast as humanly possible because you were just trying to get everything down for the super rough first draft."
Months and months (and months) ago, I agreed that I'd edit and re-draw the chapter containing Day Two since it's got a good mix of all the elements of the book: humor, sadness, collage, etc. After many (many) months of avoiding it, I have finally begun Doing! The! Work!
Here is the original first page of the Day Two chapter:

Aaaaaand here is that same material, drawn up nicer and given space to breath across two pages:

(That's my actual Progress Record sheet I filled out that day!) I struggled so hard with that hand. I redrew it multiple times and finally based it off this reference photo of my hand:

I still might take another bash at redrawing it :-/
There's 13 pages left of the original chapter! Seeing as I couldn't even redraw the first page without doubling it, it will be interesting to see how big this chapter balloons now that I can rework everything π¬
Wish me luck. I'll keep you updated.
