Next Update Talk

Hello everyone,


We're slowly but surely coming back to the usual pace with the team and with it, I've laid out my plans for this month.


As I mentioned in the previous post, I'm switching Akiko and Keizo content because finishing Keizo's quest is important to unlock more stuff in the future. So during this month, I'll be focusing on that.


But I'll talk about that in another post. This time, I want to talk about something I've been delaying for some time because it wasn't high on the priority list: Soul Mate.


I didn't get any feedback as to whether or not people enjoyed the game so I don't really know if adding it was a good idea, but now that it's here, gotta make sure it plays properly.


So we're going to try and use this month to also improve Soul Mate in any possible way.


I have no idea if we'll manage to do everything that is planned because most of it is code-related and will depend on the ability of Hime to be quick about those points, but I'd like as many points as possible to be done.


What are those improvements we're talking about? Here's rough list of the elements I'd like to improve for the next release:


- Add new cards (And not 1 or 2. I've realized that there's a big problem in card repartition so there should be a real gap between the amount of cards accessible during the base game, and the amount of cards accessible during the post game.)


- Add new AI behaviours. It's pretty tricky to do, but right now, there are only 3 AI behaviour and I'd like to see if it's possible to increase that amount.


- Redo the UI. Notably the Play Mat.


- Change the card selection screen. If you have several times the same card, show it on a single line, have a preview of your current deck, have cards ordered by number etc...


- Add new NPCs. That's the biggest point. Right now, there's almost no one to play against except the homeless in the hideout. I'd like to add at least 4 or 5 new players.


- Add new rules. For those of you who played Triple Triad, you know that the rules "Plus" and "Same" are the core rules allowing you to win against someone who has better cards. So we'd like to add at least these two.


- Add animations. Flipping cards, card selection at the end... Make things a bit more lively.


- Add SFX. There's currently no sound in the game outside the BGM so I'd like to add some as well.


As you can see, there's a lot of things to do, and I don't think we'll have the time to cover everything, but we'll do our best to do as much as possible.


That's all, I didn't mean to make a huge post, just explain the plan for Soul Mate. The next post should probably be about Keizo's part.

I do think the side game is a fun time and worth doing. I would maybe suggest adding some sort of incentive to winning those matches? Obviously with the homeless there was a scene if you lost, but maybe something if you win? A pin-up style picture, or a scene lead by the girl. I realize there is already a lot to do so not sure what exactly you can add as a reward but something like that would be fun.

Welp, except the nightmare I can see testing the code, I really like it as a side-game. Like for the spanking, between all the re-start I lost it a bit (after the third time I stopped farming all cards and just test it for bug and got on); but if new stuff is added it could be the time I get back into it........ maybe after the 2sd-3rd patch that is xD (dont hate me Hime <3)
