Hello everyone,
I swear it's getting harder and harder to write lots of posts every month because since updates are monthly, there isn't ton of new stuff at every update (even if I think we're doing a good job at providing enough content every month.)
So you'll forgive me if the time between each post gets longer ^^'
First of all, the poll results. The sexy uniform won vs the classic uniform! (55% to 45%). We'll base ourselves on that model for the game, then (at Peak's greatest disappointment :x)
Next, there are elements we're working on that are more tied to polishing but that need to be done and that is accessory handling. Since it's a long process we're doing it one character at a time and Yuki will be the first one, of course. The goal is to have accessories that can be visible in the faceset well, be visible (right now, it's only the glasses), but also on the pixel character (if it's doable, we're not 100% sure of it for now, we're still working on it) and lastly, we're also taking that chance to be able to adapt the faceset to the current condition of the character (basically what they wear in terms of clothing.)
Until now, if Yuki didn't wear exactly what her faceset showed, either I removed the faceset or I addeed it anyway, but I don't like the non-coherence of it. Normally, after that update, if she doesn't have her jacket, for example, her faceset won't have it either. That will also allow me to feel more free in terms of clothing because until I was somehow refraining from having her change her clothes just because of that ^^' Since Peak had to redraw the whole clothing part of the faceset (to make them removable, they originally weren't) they were improved both in terms of lineart and coloring.
There are things we're working on that are not for this update either. But when it comes to R&D, we can't really start that stuff when we need it so I prefer deciding it beforehand. While I can't go too much into details, I'll just say that those concerns way to modify the skin of characters in different ways to improve the list of possibilities.
And lastly, of course, the main dish, as I mentioned in my previous posts: this update is about Akiko. I'm gonna explain a bit how the update will work out so it'll be spoilerish, don't read what's after if you don't want to be spoiled (it's only the next paragraph.)
Akiko's content will be divided in three parts. First of all, Yuki will need to "discover" a secret from Akiko that she'll find out thanks to memory shards. Discovering said secret will make her want to try and make Akiko admit it, but as you can guess, it won't be that easy. So you'll have a little quest to do it (that's the second part.) Third part will be the "main" dish. Where you'll be able to have Akiko do naughty stuff in specific settings. As you unlock more scenes, at some point, you'll be able to unlock a mini-game (no idea if I'll have enough time to implement it for this update) that will lead to other scenes. Among this whole series of quests, you'll need to unlock some skills in the tree for things to progress.
That's more or less the gist of it. Of course, if possible I'll also add extra scenes with Yuki that need to be added (there are still many to add.) As always, it will depend on the time the main part needs.
Lastly, I'd like to mention something that has nothing to do with SoVR but that has to do with my working pace. Normally after a release I take a couple of days to rest. This time, I took a bit more because I happened to start Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. After the release day, I played 10 hours a day every day :x So I took a bit more than 2 days of rest, but hell, when a game hook me up THAT much, I just can't do anything else. You probably heard about it now, but I won't refrain myself from promoting it here. This game is simply in my top 3 games ever. Period. It has everything I've been wanting in a game like this for years. The gameplay is neat, the graphics are neat, the story is awesome, the artistic direction is great and the soundtrack is probably one of the best video game soundtrack ever made. If you haven't played it. Play it. Do I say that because the game is made by a French studio? Hell yeah. For once I can be honest and proud at the same time :x Seriously, I keep watching streamers playing the game at key points just to see how they'd react. I've never done that in my entire life (I don't watch streamers.) Aaaaaaaaand, I'm gonna stop here otherwise I could flood my whole post with praise and love. Play it :x
That's all for today. I'll make another post somewhere during the month to give you a better idea on how things are progressing but that probably will be all until the release, sorry for that ^^'
See ya o/ (And play it)
