Sorry to bother you with that AGAIN, but you're still 25% to haven't moved to the new tiers. And you're so well spread through tiers that if I were to remove those old tiers right now, I'd lose 25% of my income right away. I'd like to avoid coming to this situation but I will HAVE to do it at some point so please, change your pledge, even to a lower one :/
Hello everyone,
Another day, another censoring. Ci-En (DLsite's Patreon-like site) has been forced by CC companies to remove problematic content. Just like they did with DLsite though, they don't ask to remove said content to the creator, but to change specific problematic words. The list is long and anything non-consensual is banned. As you can imagine, the consensual words are strongly leaning towards my games -_-
So not only do I have to stop showing previews including potential risky stuff, but I also have to stay as vague as I've ever been about the content. I hope you'll understand -_-
That forces me to talk about one thing in that post in addition to what I originally wanted to talk about: the changes I'm planning for future updates.
Considering the state of things, there is a chance that at some point I can't use western sites anymore. So starting the first version of Slice of Venture Remake, the game will be released CENSORED. This way, I'll be able to post it on Fantia (and to a lesser extent, Ci-En). Parallely, it will be possible to get the uncensored patch from Blue Axolotl official site. It's an extra step, but it's bound to be necessary. You have to realize that at some point, things might get SO dire that I could be forced to chose between censoring my games completely or not being able to upload them anymore. It's quite the terrifying thought but things are evolving in that direction.
So yeah, that's a pain in the ass, it will take extra time to upload updates because of the extra work of censoring everything but what can I say? If people weren't aware of the dangers of monopoly, now it looks like the right moment to realize it.
I'll try to lighten up the mood a bit with the real SoVR talk I wanted to have originally. And it's about our current work process. While things are going well, I won't hide that things are slower than expected on the image side. The colorist we hired shows promises but we're asking a lot of new things they've never worked on.
So we're currently in that situation: When there's something new to color, Peak needs to explain all the elements that needs to be done (with technical explanations). Then Peak and I go over all the corrections to do. In the same time, Peak and I are working together to decide about coloring style of elements that needs to be defined so we can explain them to the colorist. For example, for a certain kind of dicks, we had to create a reference chart with 5 different colors, from the side and the front, so that the colorist could based their coloring on it. We also make tests for veins, wetness etc... to see what can work and what can't. This is time invested that isn't used for drawing. But at the same time, it's time meant to save time through the rest of the development. And I won't hide that I'm glad we're taking this time because we're defining as much elements as we can (basically, every liquid goes over a sort of "rework" so that it can work as well as possible with the coloring style).
As a consequence, things are a bit tricky timing-wise. We have roughly one month left for the release and I have no idea if everything will be ready by then. Keep in mind that there's a possibility everything's good. I just can't certify it.
What I can certify is what you'll find in that version in terms of scenes. And this is the second part of my post. I'd like to take a second to explain how I envision the first part of this remake when it comes to H scenes.
In the original Slice of Venture, the player only had two days and one evening to play through everything. So I had to shoehorn as many scenes as I could because everyone would go back home after. Due to how the remake will be built, I'm not forced to fill that part of the game with so many scenes just because it's the only time frame in which I can insert smut. As such, I can make the game breath more AND remove content I've never been satisfied with in the original game. So YES, there will be less scenes for that update than in the original game (quite logical at the same time though. It took me around 1 year to complete SoV + 6 extra months for the v1.1 which added content while here we've started working on smut like 4 months ago) and YES some scenes will be completely removed. BUT, at the same time, there will be a mix of remake of already existing scenes (the ones I deemed the most interesting and/or relevant) and a few new scenes with completely different settings. Some of you WILL be disappointed that the content will be rather tame compared to what I usually do but I remind you that I'm bound by the shackles of coherence and the canon part of SoVR needs to follow rules so that it fits properly between SoVO and SoV2. Do not worry, the post-game content will be hard enough to compensate.
There is ONE thing that will be missing AND should've been there (so that will need to be added AFTER, in another update) it's the scene between Yuki, Ayame and their "hurt friend". There are two reasons it won't be there in the first update: We won't have the time to prepare it and even if we had, I still haven't decided yet how I'm planning this (angle, pics, content etc...) So that specific element is the only one that will be added after the first update in the canon part of the game. The rest should be present.
I'm sorry if this post sounds a bit depressing to some of you, but I really hope it's not going to make some of you run away. I wish I could show you some of the smut stuff we're working on but as you can expect, it wouldn't be a smart thing to do considering the current situation :/
I only ask you to trust me. The next time, I'll come around with pictures, I promise :p
See ya o/
