v0.29 Log #1


Hello everyone,


Time to start talking a bit about what I have planned for v0.29.


There is one major piece that covers most of the v0.29 but it includes different elements.


Basically, v0.29 will revolve around the new creature to hunt (finally!!)


Originally, I had planned a list of creatures to implement in the game, but some smartasses dug into the game files and spoiled the list as soon as v0.1 came out. It pissed me off quite a lot (especially considering it was on F95), and I decided to not only delete any future element in the game that I would've written in advance in the database but also to change that list because I disliked the idea that everything was written in advance. As such, I decide the new creatures to implement in the game on a whim, without any prior thinking (at least not as far as 10 updates in advance.) For this update, I made a choice quite some time ago, making sure to not let anything leak about it. I'll reveal it in another post where I'll focus on it, but that's not the goal of this log. This one is more to explain the global lines and I'll go in detail in the posts afterward.


While I don't plan things to develop this way for every creature, in this particular case, it's a massive scenario block that will revolve around the new creature.


Now keep in mind that by "massive" I mean "heavy in game time" not "heavy in main plot progression." Because as paradoxical as it sounds, there will be a way to skip a good portion of the update if wished. And that reason is simple: for the first time in the game, you'll have the possibility, for a specific amount of time, to play as another character than Kaya.


To be more precise, you'll play a huge flashback. This flashback will be told by a new character and you'll play as this character during your exploration. The flashback is meant to be roughly half of the update and will be skippable (of course, if skipped, scenes will stay locked but it's more for replay purposes and the possibility in the future to ask for fresh saves, at least you won't have to do it everytime :x)


The whole flashback will focus on corruption of the new character. Since the focus won't be Kaya, it will be possible to enjoy a full corruption curve from the beginning to the end :)


Kaya, on her side, will have to go there to hunt down creatures in the same place but in the present. This whole part alone represents the majority of the renders I've been working on recently. And I haven't finished x)


Of course, there are also plans to keep improving the brothel (notably by implementing missing animations like Halcyon's ones with the dogs) so that everything on the first floor is finished by the time v0.3 kicks in.


There will also be visual combats improvements to make things better (both in terms of character "animation" and UI), and normally, if things go well, there will also be the implementation of the Alpha version (both for the zombie dogs and the new creatures) which allows the player, under specific circumstances to fight a more difficult combat in order to rack up more tokens than usual.


There are also many small tweaks to improve things that I'd like to do but I'd rather mention them once they're done than mentionning them and not having them because of time constraints ^^'


The good thing is that this time around, except this post, most other posts will come with preview pics so I should have enough content to keep you entertained until the release of the v0.29.
