TH2's Future updates talk #1

Hello everyone,


Time for me to talk a bit more in detail about what's to come in TH2.


First of all, I need to warn you that unforunately, even if major bugs are found, I can't provide patches anymore as I have started working on content update and it will break your saves if I provide patches with WIP content.


Among the possible problems some of you are facing I already know that some people build two beds instead of one during the brothel tutorial, locking them from getting the nurse outfit. This is something that will be solved in the next update. Sorry for the trouble :/


So what to expect for TH2? I'm planning three main posts this month. The current one will explain the big lines behind the serie of updates that will lead to the v0.3. Then my two other posts will focus on v0.26 content precisely (One focused on the brothel, and the other on the rest of the game.)


So what's in store for the series of updates coming up?


I've already mentionned some of it in a past post (the one where I detail the content of each future update.) One of the main goal is to (finally) set the game on its final tracks so that the fundations are really finished and that future content is just more content and not continuing to work on making the base stand.


In order to achieve that, the brothel is of course the core element that will get updated throughout those updates. I'm quite satisfied by its current state and I hope the final result will be great :)


Brothel aside, those updates are also the occasion to polish everything that needs to be polished in the game, and oh boy... The list isn't short. One of the most frustrating thing about TH2 is searching for elements that you never find (I mean visual elements.) 3D is nice and all but it doesn't create UIs and stuff like that. And I lose A LOT of time because of that. Let me give you a single example: The quest trigger (the little windows appearing when a quest starts.) There's nothing right with that. It's ugly, big, unfitting, bothersome because you need to wait for it to disappear... I'm so unsatisfied by it that I didn't make it appear in recent quests (yeah, spoilers, it's not a bug, I'm just too ashamed by this piece of shit :x). So I spent several hours trying to find something fitting (I wanted something a bit animated since we can implement animations in RPG Maker) but I found nothing. So it's a double frustration, here: because not only did I lose time searching for something I didn't find, but also, I'm stuck with that bad-looking window for the moment... And that's just ONE of the many elements that are planned to be polished :x


And the third element to focus on will be to add "filling" content. By that, I mean more conversations and lore content linked to the characters. There will be a specific gameplay element that will be added sometime during those updates that will allow the player to spend time with an NPC (Biserka, Tambara, Sasha for example) in order to learn more about them or trigger quests or trigger H content. The way it'll be coded will allow me to keep that whole "the girls are whoring themselves outside" without having to create thousands of conditions if I want the player to have specific conversations with the characters.


Another thing I want to start implementing (and it's time to do so) are Sexual EXP locked scenes. Ever since the beginning of the game, those stats are useless. After all, it's logical, I can't really lock the player from scenes right from the start of the game if I know the game will need several updates before the values raise to a big enough value. While it's still the case (most of the values don't go over 10 for the moment), I'll have to start implementing those limitations. Replaying SoV2 for the patch made me realize how it can become quickly ridiculous if not handled properly. The fear of lacking hardcore content at the beginning makes you end with requirements lower to fuck a Zebra than an old man x)


Until now, I've bypassed this problem by putting Kaya in specific situations where things are forced (through drugs with the frog, because she has to compel in Lost Town etc...). This twist can't be used forever. So right now, I prefer making things differently. Basically, the really hardcore stuff will be handled by NPCs and Kaya will have to progress normally to become naughtier and naughtier. It will start with Oswald. I have two scenes rendered for him. But one of them is really hard so I can't put it in the game right now. The other one is hardcore too but more "easy to accept" by stats limitations, so it'll probably be integrated in the game through the next updates.


And Kaya's "global rank" will now just be scenario-related. It won't unlock stuff per se. You'll increase it naturally through the main scenario. Only the sexual experience can lock you out of scenes. Also, considering that it's possible to miss points (for example, the scene with Nathalie at the very beginning of the game is limited in time), I'm planning to make more than 100 points available throughout the game so that people can reach the max of every stat even if they miss missable content.

Through the following updates, I've planned an integration of girl in the brothel every two updates. So between v0.26 and v0.3, there will be 3 new girls. I think it's a good pace, but at the same I don't know if I'll keep it forever as technically, the more the game advance the more you'll have to convince reticent women so the quests to hire them will be longer ^^' But we're not reaching those yet and the following ones still are more or less easy to convince :p


And finally I'm sure you're all wondering "when the hell is he integrating new creatures?" That's the big thing. Integrating a creature isn't as quick as integrating a new girl. Because it means that you have to do all the combat-related stuff (all the skills x number of clothes for renders). So it's longer. Now I'm aware that it's been long since the zombie dogs have been integrated. And the next creatures will arrive pretty late (v0.29). But normally, if we reach v0.3 and the game looks like it's supposed to be (meaning there won't be extra updates to keep on polishing content), the creatures that will follow the second one should arrive faster.


With everything taking shape, I'm starting to see a pretty clear line that leads towards the end of the game development. I'm not saying it'll be soon (it won't be), but with v0.3 I will have implemented most of the things I want and if I were to implement something else that is quite big, it would be a completely side-dish element (card game anyone? 8D).
