Hello everyone,
I wanted to make a small post about the planning ahead.
First of all, in case you're curious, here are the results of the poll I posted two weeks ago.
So the release of the next update of The Hunter 2 will be in January. I'll make a full post about the brothel update don't worry. There are just some gameplay elements that we're still adjusting (I modified some a couple of days ago because we coded everything and at the very end we realized that one thing wasn't working the way we wanted so I had to find a solution to fix it: meaning changing a part of things already done.) Don't misunderstand me: the reason it's taking so long is because we've done things, then undone things then redone things etc...
It was pretty challenging but we're finally seeing the end of it. At least on paper. Now there are still things to code (notably the whole creature side which isn't done yet.) But at least, we now exactly what to do so it should be much quicker.
Anyway, that wasn't the purpose of this post. I just wanted to tell you that I'm conscious that things are slower than they should. The last release was SoSEL at the end of September so there will have been 4 months between two releases which is way too much.
While it's true that revamping the brothel and adding all the tidbits we added took time, it shouldn't have taken SO long. And I'd like to avoid leaning towards the path of some developpers who end up releasing one update every 4 months with what I can pull out in one month in them.
So here's the thing. For the moment, I have absolutely NO IDEA when I'll be able to go back to Slice of School. But I might talk about the game in another post in the future. So for now, my mind is completely set on The Hunter 2.
After this big 0.25 release, I'm planning smaller updates that will be released more or less monthly (I don't want them to be strictly a month apart but all in all, I'd like to wrap them up in that span of time.) This way, I'll be able to release content more regularly and you won't feel like waiting ages.
I already have enough content planned for at least three of those updates. So if things work well, you'll have the big update in January and then one update of the game in Ferbuary, March and April.
Ideally, I'd like to start working on the SoV3 novel during this time. Not necessarily write several chapters, but I might see if I can find a way to illustrate it a bit without it being as constraining as it would be with a game. So those are the two things I'll be focusing on for now.
Lastly, I'd like to mention something about Fanbox. For the moment, nothing changed on my side BUT, The Hunter (the first one) has been removed from Booth. The mail says they won't give the detail about the removal of the game so I can't know for sure. But there are two possibilities: Either it's just because it's 3D and in this case, it sucks, because it means I might have to be even more careful on Fanbox. OR, and I really hope it's the case, it's because the game was uncensored. In that case, yeah I plaid guilty. I put it up there thinking "oh well, we'll see" and it lasted 3 years (it's been there since the release on October 2019). The removal of the game doesn't really bother me (I sold 26 units in 38 months so... yeah x) but I wanted you to know about it in case things change about The Hunter 2.
That's all for now. I hope you spent a good time for Christmas and I'll see you next time for The Hunter 2! o/
