Ambriosa Inhabitants' Preview

This is the very last batch of render-only I'll show you for the game! Just like with the creatures, there won't be a 100 Yen version here. I'd like to take the chance of that post to explain a bit more how Ambriosa is supposed to work. After all, I don't plan on giving much informations about those characters. You'll get to meet them all in v0.1 of the game, so might as well keep a bit of surprise :p As you already know, Ambriosa will be the other big place of the game. Unlike the village it'll be a town, and as you can expect, the different parts of the town will be unlocked as the game's (and its development) progresses. Considering Ambriosa, I had to face a dilemma: Considering some characters needed to be modeled (mainly those who'll end up in a scene, be it H or not) did I have to model them all every time I created a new part of Ambriosa? Normally that's what I'd have done. If there are 25 NPCs and 10 of them are planned to be used in 3D I need to created them all right now. But that creates two problems: 1) It kills work balance (Creating 10 models then none for a few updates isn't balanced in terms of time spent on said creation) 2) I can't tailor the character based on my needs (eg: the quests they're linked to). To be more precise, I first need to write a quest before modeling said characters. But all those quests won't necessarily be in the next update either. So I'd be modeling characters based on nothing but a vague idea and might end up giving them a different look and having to redo them completely once the quest has been written. That's why I chose a path that might surprise you but which is the most coherent to me (and the one avoid the traps of working twice on the same thing.) Basically, outside of the characters that will have a quest that AT LEAST starts in a version (it can be a long quest cut in several parts so updated through different updates), all other characters won't have a 3D version (nor even a custom pixel version since this one is based on the 3D look.) That means that some characters who'll appear in that first version will have a certain look (let's call it an "NPC" look) BUT, considering they'll have importance later (once their quests are implemented), they'll completely change their look between two updates as they'll have a define look over the NPC look (Because yeah, just because I haven't implemented some quests, it doesn't mean they're not written. I have to balance the time to do everything.) If it's a bit hard to understand don't worry, everything will go smoothly. Just remember this: the 5 characters above were designed because they're linked to quests. As such they'll have at leasts facesets in their game (or more if there are renders invovling them.) With that idea in mind there are also houses that will be locked for the moment but will be unlocked as the development progresses and I implement new characters/quests etc... So each part of the town will have new elements to offer through the updates (just because an update doesn't have a new part of the town unlocked doesn't mean there won't be new stuff to see in Ambriosa.) I'm currently about to be finished map-wise and there are already 35 maps in the game (Even SoV2 didn't that much at launch (only 28)). That's why you'll understand why I'm not unlocking ALL the houses in Ambriosa from the get-go ^^' Here are the full size pics: https://mega.nz/#!Alk1ACYJ!wIneGvlIa4JZ6QxBMz4Xw1UsN_Vizj66Yzv6WnaBcI4 Anyway, that's all for today, starting next post, I'll show you stuff about the game itself!

Glad you enjoyed the first game ^^ I'm doing my best to make sure this sequel is better. Hopefully the first version will be released at the end of this month if we manage to do everything we've planned in time :p
