Subspecies: Ruby Basarios

This months winner is the ruby basarios! The ruby basarios is the CR 14 version of the CR 6 basarios. The distinguishing trait of the Ruby Basarios is the presence of vibrant pink crystals that emerge from its back, indicating a notable divergence in its diet compared to its standard rocky counterpart. Its tough shell boasts exceptional durability, offering formidable protection against harm. The creature can propel crystals from its back through a rhythmic shaking motion of its body.
While the ruby basarios isn't too different of a monster in the video game, I feel like pushing it to a CR 14, giving it legendary actions add a lot of utility to the monster. Either by poisoning creatures in melee range, or possibly putting them to sleep. This is in addition to giving it a more consistent ranged attack with its Fireball action.
