New Faction: The Helix Commission (2 new Backgrounds)

Hi Everyone, 

Here is this months faction and I think the last one I am going to be doing for the time being. I feel like we covered the core of monster hunter with the Hunter's Guild, Wycademy, and Royal Scrivener's. Then we expanded into the darker side of the lore with a poachers faction. Now we have a faction that isn't necessarily evil, but their beliefs don't align with the three core factions of the world. That faction is the Helix Commission.

Who is the Helix Commission

The Helix Commission is dedicated to studying and experimenting with the creation of hybrid monsters by combining two different species. They believe that these hybrids could have incredible potential, both for scientific understanding and practical application. Their ultimate goal is to create new, more powerful species that could be harnessed to benefit humanity. However, this research is considered illegal by the Hunter's Guild and immoral by both the Royal Scriveners and Wycademy. Despite this, the Helix Commission continues to work tirelessly towards their goal of creating hybrid monsters that can benefit the world.

One bit of lore I added is that the Helix Commission may be responsible for the creation of some of the subspecies found in the world. Though I didn't name any specifically, this could potentially explain why some of these subspecies have unique abilities and characteristics that make them different from their regular counterparts.

However, it also raises concerns about the ethics of creating these monsters, and the potential dangers they could pose to both humans and the ecosystem. Which I think adds a lot of potential to story lines involving this faction.

Creating the Helix Commission and the idea behind it

The helix commission isn't an idea that I came up with myself. This one was actually created over the years of my MH Patreon campaigns as my players made jokes in the discord. Namely Mike_and_Ike and Legendaryfear. Whenever a picture of a hybrid monster was posted in a channel there was always a joke about how another one got let out of its cage. It grew from there and when they suggested making it a faction I liked the thought of it. So between myself and them, and a few other patrons we created this faction and I am extremely happy with it.
