General Patreon Update + My first PF2e Stat Block (help name it)

Hello Everyone,

I decide this first post should be available to everyone on the patreon while I am figuring out how to make this new content. For many of you in the discord, you already know that my plan is to continue to release 5e content for as long as I can. When that time comes, I will be transitioning over to a new 5e adjacent system (should be close enough for you to covert the monsters to 5e yourself fairly easily).

In addition to that, I have decided to also move into Pathfinder 2e as well. With this transition, I am moving towards an inspired by MHMM and AGtMH. This means, that the stat blocks will be inspired by my 5e stat blocks, with new names, new art, newish lore. This also means potential rename for weapons, items, and locations.

This is going to take some time to do, mostly due to the fact that I have over 300 monsters to create art for before even having art for races, weapons, and other things. I am going to go as fast as I possibly can and will provide the patreon updates on stat blocks that you could use with the original MH tokens until art is created.

In the image attached to this post, you will see my first PF2e stat block. One that was inspired by the Mizutsune (level still subject to change). For those familiar with PF2e please let me know if anything seems out of place. With this new stat block I am looking for a new name for it. I am attempting to create names kind of how they created the names in the video games (taking words, translating them into another language and meshing them together). I have some great suggestions already from some patrons in the work in progress channel of the discord, and I would like your suggestions as well or your thoughts on some of the potential new name for this creature.

Those names are:

I am personally a fan of Ma'ramsimsune (I read it as Ma'ra-Sim-Sune) with a slight change in lore to its bubbles giving a more vibrant iridescent coloring that some might view as a sort of water color paint look.

Things I would like your help with:

For any of this, you can reach me by commenting in this and future posts, send me a direct message on patreon, or in the patreon discord by @me or direct message on there if you prefer.

I want to thank you for your time and support, and I hope you all are excited for these new steps as much as I am.

Ah, fair enough!

water in 5e does bludgeoning as well, it is more the attempt to separate damage types from the video game from the physical damage. It may end up as acid again or ill see how creating two new damage types may effect the game or the monster if they are used in a non MH game.

I think for a very high pressure stream, though, you could make a solid argument for piercing, instead. Or maybe even Bludgeoning (Versatile P)

One thing I'll note is that in PF2E, a lot of water attacks do bludgeoning damage, rather than "water" damage, which isn't a (predefined) damage type. (See https://2e.aonprd.com/Rules.aspx?ID=340 ) I think the idea is the water pressure is more like an impactful force: https://2e.aonprd.com/Spells.aspx?ID=1055

Cool concept! My vote is Ma'rasimsune. I think that name best sells "Mizutsune relative species".

Let me try to find my notebook from school and see if any of my old ideas still hold up.

I agree with Ma'rasimsune or Shuisune

Just to throw in my 2 cents, I think pf2e is a far more enjoyable game from a combat perspective. And for a game centered around fighting big enemies at high levels pathfinder just makes more sense. And I really do appreciate you doing work for the system <3

I know the 5e version super well. I can usually tell if something is off on a creature's CR just by looking at it. When it comes to PF2e, it is a different world. Their instructions on building monsters is not as in depth as 5e, and uses tables with minimal connecting math to other parts of its stat block. My experience from monster creation in general I think helps me in PF2e balance my monsters to ones of equal level in official PF2e content. When it comes to fun, I can't say which is more fun. I can say each has its own pros and cons. 5e is comforting and easy for me, where as PF2e is currently straight chaos that I believe I understand. That Mizu stat block took me probably 3 hours to make, due to flipping back and forth and trying to remember what certain tags do. I will get faster as I do more though.

In your opinion when making this version compared to the 5e, which one did you have more fun making?
