What is a home and what does it mean to belong? Gabrielle expresses that settling down wasn’t something she really thought about because she felt she already had a home in Xena. Explaining that belonging had less to do with a place you live in, and more to do with the people inside it that live with you. But Xena and Gabrielle didn’t live anywhere. They were gypsies that travelled. Stopping in tavern inns, Amazon villages or friend’s houses every once in a while. But, ultimately, their home was each other.  I liked Lin Chi even though he was just another guy that hit on Gabrielle to keep the network studio happy because they didn’t want her to be a lesbian. But I genuinely liked this one. He seemed to accept that Gabrielle belonged to someone else and was respectful of her wishes. He was deep and thoughtful and he spoke out about something that’s very important I thought. Bared his soul to her about why he felt he didn’t belong in the country he was living in. We’ll never feel like we belong in the world if we’re constantly at war with each other. If we just try to understand each other, or at least respect each other’s differences in policies and procedures, we’d do alright. ‘Cause that’s the only real issue we have. We do not understand each other, nor want to. Most of our issues, if not all, are ethical. Therefore, they could be solved if all parties in the argument agreed to disagree and put aside their stubborn beliefs just long enough to listen and to consider the other side’s opinions and philosophies.  It’s funny and also sad how I can look back on a show that was made in the 90's and still find the themes they talked about and dealt with relevant and resonant today. Then again, that’s just the magic of Xena. It was ahead of its time in many ways. There’s so much substance in it that you never get in any TV show today. At least, I haven’t seen one that comes close to Xena in that. As campy and silly as it can be sometimes, it’s got so much heart and soul in it. It’s true though. The message. Home isn’t a place. It’s people. People you cannot live without. GABRIELLE: “Xena, I’ll always love you, but I know I have to let you go. I always thought of you as my home and when you left… I felt so lost.” And as for ending a war with love. It seems cheesy to say but it’s all any of us really want at the end of the day. Violence and conflict to be resolved in compassion and kindness so we can all get on with our lives as we choose to live them and who we choose to live with because that’s what really makes the difference as Lin Chi said. Who we walk through the world with. An insightful thought. This episode was definitely much better than the first part of this story. Even if it feels anti-climatic to watch Xena just turn the army into stone instead of crashing and slashing through them. The sentiment stands out and I think people need to care more about that than about the entertainment of it all. Imagine if we could end a war with love. XENA: “Well, peace might be boring, but it's all anybody really wants.”

The only thing I remember about this episode is Joxer being blown up to bits 😆 it always makes me laugh... I think this one was even more forgettable than the previous Chin episode, a skip for me

I don't know if Khan was intended to be any particular historical Khan (Genghis, Kublai), but I AM fairly sure that the stone statues Khan's army turned into were meant to be the Xenaverse origin of the terracotta warriors of Xi'An.
