UNEDITED: Xena Warrior Princess 4x21 Reaction

Comments

Hmm… maybe it’s just me then because I’ve never had intense relationships like that with my family or friends. Only ever romantic partners. Besides with Xena and Gabrielle - it’s kind of all 3 in one. Familial, friendship and romantic. They’re kind of each other’s everything. Which makes sense considering they’re soulmates.

Girl4Music

I think that depends on if you rank the intensities of love differently. I dont. For me romantic love, familial love, friendship love is all an equal level of intensity /importance...They're just different kinds of love. I would 'die on the cross' or put my life on the line for my best friend, my family, and for my lover all the same.

The thing is… It wouldn’t be healthy if wasn’t a romance. If you just see them as friends and nothing more, that can actually be very unhealthy. They’re just far too intense with each other if it to be anything other than romantic love between them. You’ve got to ask yourself the question. Would you die on the cross with your best friend beside you? Dying with you?

My absolute favorite Xena Finale (let's be honest- it was the real finale). I've heard others say Gabrielle going absolutely beserk for 30 seconds and slaughtering a dozen soldiers is the Greatest Love Declaration of all time. This woman is willing to completely abandon all her beliefs for Xena...woah Idk if it's healthy, but presently, they will ALWAYS choose eachother.

Girl literally said “Er no, Gabrielle is Xenasexual. She won’t kiss anyone else.”

Girl4Music

Yup haha

TurnK

Especially considering Renée refused to kiss anyone on the lips after a certain point unless it was Lucy.

Girl4Music

Oh I definitely didn't see the romance part lol. I just meant I remembered him trying to separate them for evil plot purposes. Renee and Tim trying to play up a romantic thing was actually shocking and funny to find out

TurnK

I mean nobody really saw the romance between them apart from Renee and Tim who intentionally tried to play a romantic kind of thing. It doesn’t work though. Gabrielle’s type is warriors. And women.

Girl4Music

“I wonder what’s going to happen next. That was basically the finale” They do things a bit differently this season. Kinda like Season 4 of Buffy. There’s a coda. Also Renée wanted to direct so they gave her the bookends episode.

Girl4Music

Yup. Looked like a finale but nope. How does the show go on from here? Just wait! If you thought you'd seen crazy before... I love how Xena is the instigator to major events in history. "E tu Brute?" All Xena 😂. This was a sick finale! I felt bad for Xena and Gabrielle when Xena's back was broken and Gabrielle gave in to the violence, but damn I love to see Gabby fight! ...Confession, I was so suspicious of Eli during my first watch that I had this whole memory of him in my head for years that he was somehow a bad guy who tried to separate Gabrielle from Xena like Najara. Obviously that didn't happen but I really thought it did lol.

‘The Ides Of March’. How do I even begin to talk about this episode and specifically the scene of Gabrielle going batshit berserk in all the effort to save Xena's life? I mean how much love can you hold for a person that you would give up absolutely everything to see that they make it out alive just to be faced with the fate that they won’t and you’re absolutely fine with it and calmer than stone? And when I say everything - I mean EVERYTHING. Gabrielle gives up everything: A home A career A family A daughter A queenhood A philosophy A sense of self A blood innocence Not to mention… her very own life. Imagine the love and loyalty and dedication that you would have to put in to the relationship between you and them to do that. It’s almost unhealthy and abusive if not for the fact that the person wouldn’t let you do it anyway. But you just throw caution to the wind in love for them and die on the cross with them. Pure selfless unconditional love. It’s insanely romantic what Gabrielle does in this episode. This was such an astounding declaration of love at the highest possible calibre that I believe this is what ended the slow burn between them and they finally became an officially committed couple. Yes, at the point of their deaths because that is SO Xena and Gabrielle. That's how deep and intense their love story is. I honestly believe their love for each other was consummated at the moment of them dying together. I think it's the perfect moment. It's 100% when and where it happened because these crazy people do not declare their love in words. They declare it in action. They declare love by saving each other's lives.

This is one of the best episodes. ... Wait, were you shocked by Julius Caesar getting murdered by Brutus and the Senate in an episode called The Ides of March? You flunk history AND English Literature. Kidding. ... To get very clear, Xena was lying to Brutus; Caesar was NOT going to have him assassinated. So, the climax is Caesar and Xena indirectly murdering each other. ... It was certainly nice to see Callisto again. She DID break the rule about not physically harming Xena, but what are you gonna do? ... Gabrielle lust for blood returns. 😁

This episode is a work of art, it should be framed and put on display in the Louvre 😁
