Also, as was mentioned elsewhere, there was an attempted Xena remake several years ago. I was dreading it for several reasons, and when it got stopped, I wasn't crying over it. Then, when the pilot script got released online, and I found out what the show was going to be, I was so relieved that it didn't get made. What they wanted to do to Xena was really bad, and what they wanted to do to Hercules made me almost physically ill. It was so hateful and offensive, aside from being what would probably have been straight up bad TV.

If they did do one I hope they do like a young Xena like they did with Young Hercules. But I don't think they would be able to remake the magic and authenticity of this show

2024-12-18 22:13:39 +0000 UTCAside from some absolutely grotesque transfemme/drag caricatures (yes, I know it’s a 90’s show and you should expect this kind of thing but it’s still Xena who got transgender representation so right in one episode - no excuses) this is a very fun episode. I love seeing the cast/crew have fun. I miss that about TV shows today. As for your comment about a reboot. A couple of years ago they were going to do one but it got scrapped. Don’t know why. Likely because nobody actually wanted it without involvement from Lucy and Renee and the original creators/crew but that’s just my personal guess. I can tell you no one was upset that they never went ahead with it. They don’t get everything right (see my negative comment up top) but they’d never be able to redo the timeless magic of this show. It’s an absolute cult classic show.
