Oh what hilarous fun! I know this one isn't ever on top of anyone's lists, but I do love the things it does give us. The disguises and the performances are hysterical. 😂 And it really is all for our guy Auto, anyway--who does get a little bit of closure on his past. Just think of it as another funny romp before the crazy finale.

2024-10-25 21:17:40 +0000 UTCOh it was definitely Xena. There’s absolutely nothing romantic between Autolycus and Gabrielle at any point. So they really can’t use the heteronormative excuse that it was Autolycus kissing Gabrielle. Autolycus has absolutely no interest in Gabrielle. He has more interest in Xena. So therefore, unless he was letting Xena use his body so that he could kiss Xena (which makes no sense whatsoever), then you can’t use it as a heterosexual explanation for ‘The Quest’ kiss. It was Xena kissing Gabrielle. 100%. Honestly the deniability factor with people who claim Xena and Gabrielle aren’t romantically interested in each other is borderline delusion. ‘Vanishing Act’ is such a bottle episode. Most of the creators/cast/crew hate it. And you say it would be bad if you didn’t have Xena. Imagine if you didn’t have Lucy in any capacity in this episode. Her accent and Fran Drescher impression is the highlight of all of it. And Ezra and Myopia’s competition. I love Season 3 to bits but honestly this is the worst episode of it. It’s a dud plotwise.
