Another setback (hopefully the last)

Welp, after 4 months, 3 bios updates, 2 windows reinstalls, several virus scans, stress tests, drivers updates and countless hours wasted researching what could be wrong with my PC i concluded that i'm not wasting a single second more trying to tame the broken chip the 14900K is. So i issued a warranty claim and pc goes back to the store tomorrow. They said that if they don't have any more i9s in stock they'll refund me and they said they have none in stock right now. so if that ends up being the case i would change to a Ryzen 9 9950X which (which with mobo swap included) would be just 50 bucks more.
Hopefully that would be the end of my missfortunes and setbacks with this pc.
Fear not, as i'll keep on working on the other pc. might have to delay bela's animation a bit as it's quite a heavy scene and i'm rendering it in 4K. I'm assuming that this warranty adventure would take arround a couple weeks.

So i'll be focusing on:

Viewer tier:
- This short loop for Xmas
https://gyazo.com/1613e0f608eb53d8e1bf164cae401131
And a new year's wallpaper engine wallpaper like last year's widowmaker one

Hard worker tier:
- Neytiri and jake models (that i'll also make public so more people will be able to use them. Meaning more Na'vi R34 overall)

Student tier:
- Daz to blender porting tutorial
I finally learned how to propperly do the whole process and cover all potential aspects and issues we could come across when porting a model from daz.

If the PC comes back quickly i'll put it to continue rendering the bela animation.
(i'll render a bit on the other one while i sleep, but the new PC's 4090 is more than twice as fast as the other PC's 3090 so progress on that would be quite slow on the old pc)

Another setback (hopefully the last)

As an engineer I’ve flip flopped between the brands over the last 😮 27 years, but I’ve not been recommending the Intel cpus for a few years now. The 14th gen debacle and how they’ve dealt with it is just poor.

For real, the moment it came to light that Intel knew and still proceeded to produce them knowing there was a massive defect in their chipset is mindboggling. As a result of that, their stock tanked and they lost billions. Like the cost to not sell a defective item would have been far less than what they chose to do. Corporate Greed knows no bounds. Their own stupidity in this wiped out Billions of their companies worth over night and took a massive hit to their public perception. I really hope the store just lets you swap to the Ryzen chipset and mobo. Get that piece of mind knowing you wont have anything further to worry about.

damn, glad you decided to swap the GPU man. but yeah idk why companies keep doing stuff like this. i'm assuming they make some losses balances and they conclude it's worth it. but holly shit. this has been an absolute pain in the ass. i was super excited to get this pc (which btw, let's not forget the goal and only purpose of it was to make longer stuff i could render. mostly the tifa animation) and it's all been a huge disappointment. i really hope that the store can offer me a good solution and not just a "here's a new i9"

I don't blame you, even if they have a swap out available for the 14900k I would just swap to the Ryzen 9 9950X. Knowing that Intel knew there was a major defect in their chipset and still proceeded to take it to market shows they do not care about their product nor the people buying it. The safe bet would be to just swap the chipset / mobo and be done with the issue. Thankfully the Ryzen 9 9950X is an insanely good CPU and worth the extra 50 bucks. I remember battling with my Power Color 6900 XT Red Devil Ultimate. Every single driver update made playing anything hell. After almost a year of battling it, I gave up and swapped to a 4090 and have not looked back. I will never deal with an other Radeon GPU again. The Ryzen CPU on the other hand have been insanely solid and amazing for me. I 100% recommend them and the fact that Intel has fumbled on 3 generations of CPU makes the recommendation even easier.
