The Milk of Inhuman Kindness (NSFW VN Beta Test!)

Lemme just say. Never set a deadline for something you've never done before.

(Hoo, boy.)

Well, then! With that being said, I have big news! I've tried to keep it relatively mum, but I've been working on making a short, NSFW visual novel! I don't want to get you guys all too excited, considering it's very short and my very first attempt at anything like this, but I also worked very hard on it and got some great art from @Zanamaoria for it!

In this game, you play as a hunter who followed his prey a bit further than he probably should've. It's nearly dusk, and while you're deciding whether or not to hike home at night, a man from a nearby village stumbles across you. He offers to take you back to his village, where you can stay the night and head back home the next morning!

But you can only stay one night.

Something seems wrong, but... What could it be?

So this game isn't quite finished yet, as you guys are liable to see if you play it. The game itself is more or less complete, and I went through to fix some bugs I found to ensure it's playable to completion (a strenuous process for a visual novel, I know), but I'd still like your help with some things!

For one, I'd love it if you could let me know if you encounter any bugs playing through the game, any typos, or any issues with word-wrapping or text glitches. I'd also be incredibly happy if you could let me know how long it took you to "complete" it! I don't see it being longer than a half-hour or so, but I also more or less sprinted through the game itself to make sure I caught big, game-breaking bugs.

And finally, please let me know if you enjoyed it! I understand that this is a bit different from the things I normally produce, and I want to reassure you that this isn't going to replace my short stories. This is meant to be a supplement! And given that they're all going to eventually be released for free, this is, of course, a free post.

I'm going to try and polish two or so stories to put up before the end of the month, but please understand that this game's script was already around the length of one of my normal stories. Turning it into a game was an entirely different kettle of fish, and that aforementioned kettle of fish took up a lot more time than I realized.

Thank you so much for your support! It means a lot to me, and I hope that my first attempt at something like this is at least enough to entertain you once or twice! Stay safe and stay happy!

That explains it. This is currently only available for PC users, but the final release will have support for Mac users! I don't know if iPhones will be supported, but Macs definitely will be.

Mac iPhone neither will open

Lemme know what OS you're using! Are there any error messages popping up, or is it just failing to start?

Carol J.

I can’t open it

Yeah, and on top of the extra work and added complexity (which I would guess can pretty quickly go from linear to exponential when dealing with branching paths), new sexy endings would most likely also require commissioning more art, so I definitely understand keeping it simple and streamlined for now. Those were just idle first reaction musings. :)

Thanks so much for the time estimate! I was so worried this would basically take five minutes to finish, aha. I've gotten some notes about a potential quicksave setup, but the idea of a "controls" readme file is definitely something I'll be including with the final release. As far as the opportunity for alternate/"hidden" scenes, that's definitely something I want to do in the future! But for this test run, I think the idea of including branching paths was kind of ambitious of me, aha. Only one sexy ending in this one, unfortunately... But thank you so much for the detailed feedback! It means a lot to me!

Thank you so much! A lot of work went into this, aha. I'm glad it seems to have paid off!

One of the exporting options for the game was Android, so I'll make a version for Android users, too!

This is really cool! With music and background scenery and everything.

In total, it took me a little over 30 minutes to see all the endings (using the quickskip for already-seen dialogue after my first playthrough). First playthrough I chose ”Ignore” for the same reason I always try to rush the monster first in hide/escape style horror games. Gotta go for the clearly unintended route to see what happens! What happened was pretty much what I expected, though I must admit some part of me was hoping for a surprise visit from a sexy spirit or something like that... ;) Second playthrough I chose ”Investigate” and ”Freedom”, but this time I wasn’t trying to be contrarian - I really hoped Isabella would try to seduce the player character anyway and overwhelm his will. Alas, she was true to her word. Then again, everything in the dialogue (and even the name of the game!) did strongly indicate that she would be, so really I just felt more dumb than cheated. :D Third playthrough I went with the last choice that was left to me... it was ”the right thing to do”, after all! Gotta say, while I’m personally not that into suckling/nursing, that was still pretty hot. Also I loved the possible callback to The Daily Grind (”...and it’s as easy as that.”) I know it’s a common turn of phrase but the line’s been vaguely stuck in my mind ever since I read the fic.

TL;DR: Well worth playing and easily as good as a short story or two! First of all, the writing is obviously great (all around, but being the sucker for colloquial dialogue that I am, I gotta give special props for the villagers’ banter at the start!) The commissioned art of Isabella looks amazing, too! I don’t have much experience with VNs (I’ve played maybe three or four short western-made ones over the years) so I can’t give feedback on any deeper technical or gameplay aspects. The text wraps properly on my PC and I didn't spot any typos. One thing to add might be a short .txt file with the inputs? I mean, ”next” and ”hide dialogue box” are intuitive enough on both mouse and keyboard, but I can see someone easily missing both the menu and the quickskip. That would make exploring different choices a needless left-clicking or enter-mashing fest. Short descriptions of my playthroughs to follow below, as quick as I can copy/paste the rest of my post. SPOILERS, obviously.
