Keenan Taylor's Tales of Kaimere is an incredible speculative evolution project that really needs more attention. I have really been enjoying Kaimere and its creatures for a while, so I decided to create fan-art for this universe.

I got in touch with Keenan for a species to illustrate. He sent me the Ba'khar, a huge, spinosaur-like descendant of megaraptoran theropods which evolved independently on this world.

For posterity, megaraptorans were predatory dinosaurs which used well-developed hand claws to hunt.

I studied megaraptoran skeletons, Keenan's original art, and produced the composite collage seen above. The Ba'khar is preying on a giant armoured coelacanth-relative, also a native of Keenan's incredible speculative universe.

Then it was drawing time! I went to a cozy local cafe, and just drew, drew, drew...

I then scanned the drawing, here is the cleaned image.

While adding the screentones, I also drew in a big stork to highlight the Ba'khar's gigantic size.

Finally, I painted the drawing using "Kyle's Real Oils" brushset on Adobe Photoshop. For realistic colours, I always use a diverse set of reference images and use the eyedropper tool to pick up colours.

Final colourised version - I replaced the stork with character silhouettes.
Thus ended another great creature drawing - a work of fanart instead of a commission this time. Thank you all for your support on Patreon, and beyond!
