In the words of their creator, these creatures "have no real organs; instead possessing a reservoir of liquid magic that extends below from the brain cavity in their skull, which is their only bone..."
Accordingly, I drew the body in water-soluble ink, and sprayed it with alcohol to give it a plasma-like look.
When cleaned, these lines took on a really strange and ethereal consistency - one which mere digital brushes could not attain.
